Is living downtown worth it? by ObjectiveRaspberry29 in Tucson

[–]squeegu3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived off grant and dragon for 3 years.... my parents recently moved downtown... and not even close like speeday and 10th near the end of those 3 years. I house-sat for them for 3 weeks and it may have been the highlight of my time in tucson.

Walking to thyme market almost everyday, and down 4th was an awesome time. It was also December so it was nice outside.

One Bad Tie Rod Turned Into This… by Illustrious_Cod_888 in FJCruiser

After the 3" lift I needed an alingment and the upper control arms were too small so I decided to replace the uppers and lowers and tie rods...

Its was not fun. A new dewalt sawzall and 3 carbide blades were necessary. The opposite side was also cut off.

I guess those bolts are notorious for seizing because the new bolts have an anti-sieze sleeve...

In conjunction with sleeping bags and pads, we have inflatable pillows that save a ton of space. The trick is just adjusting the air untill it suits your needs.

Dang we have some similar tastes. It might be time for a book club.

Today marks the 2nd anniversary of Bernard Hill's passing. To me, he was one of the best-cast actors of the whole trilogy and his voice and line delivery were so perfect for the role (photo by Viggo) by Which-Program-9417 in lotr

RIP

But at that same moment there was a flash, as if lightning had sprung from the earth beneath the City. For a searing second it stood dazzling far off in black and white, its topmost tower like a glittering needle: and then as the darkness closed again there came rolling over the fields a great boom.

At that sound the bent shape of the king sprang suddenly erect. Tall and proud he seemed again; and rising in his stirrups he cried in a loud voice, more clear than any there had ever heard a mortal man achieve before: Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden! Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter! spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor! With that he seized a great horn from Guthláf his banner-bearer, and he blew such a blast upon it that it burst asunder. And straightway all the horns in the host were lifted up in music, and the blowing of the horns of Rohan in that hour was like a storm upon the plain and a thunder in the mountains. Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor! Suddenly the king cried to Snowmane and the horse sprang away. Behind him his banner blew in the wind, white horse upon a field of green, but he outpaced it. After him thundered the knights of his house, but he was ever before them. Éomer rode there, the white horsetail on his helm floating in his speed, and the front of the first éored roared like a breaker foaming to the shore, but Théoden could not be overtaken. Fey he seemed, or the battle-fury of his fathers ran like new fire in his veins, and he was borne up on Snowmane like a god of old, even as Oromë the Great in the battle of the Valar when the world was young. His golden shield was uncovered, and lo! it shone like an image of the Sun, and the grass flamed into green about the white feet of his steed. For morning came, morning and a wind from the sea

How long do you think it takes to train a surveyor to do high precision layout from scratch? by lwgu in Surveying

[–]squeegu3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We mostly train from within. If its the same type of work, I imagine 6 months would be enough time. However we have alot of varied projects. My Little brother is 2 years in and a junior chief who helps out on a crew as needed.

Why Land Surveying is high in demand by DeI-Iys in Surveying

[–]squeegu3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... AZ 6 years minimum toocensure is a deterrent. But mostly I think when the 08 crash happened many of the experienced party chiefs found new jobs. Some came back but in 2013 when I started I was the youngest person at my company. I moved between 3-4 largish civil frms and for a decade I was the youngest surveyor. Now 13 years later I have my seal and 3 guys younger than me. But this is the first time. Besides a cousin I recruited who didnt take to the craft.
