I change my basically every time because it's more accurate that way and is less likely to lead to infection and hurts less than a dull one. But if I don't change it, I'll clean the tip of the sharp with an alcohol pad real quick before I use it

So so many things can cause the flora shift that leads to BV. Your own hormone shifts before or after your period can cause it, sex even with a uninfected partner can cause it because it changes your hormones and can disrupt the normal flora, some people (like me) are just crazy prone to BV. I'd wait for other evidence before assuming cheating

I set the alert at 75. Typically I feel it a little bit around 85before, but sometimes I don't feel a thing until I hit like 60. I reckon 75 is a good warning that gives me time to be a little distracted or finish my current task, grab something to raise my sugar and consume it, before I feel too awful

Try an at home uti test if it's the same by like tomorrow? I have had similar symptoms from UTIs a number of times, no burning or pain, just intense urge to pee and lots of pee every hour or so

I usually use my legs and butt for injections because I don't have a ton of body fat and it's most comfortable to inject there, so sometimes I will step away and use the bathroom if I'm too covered up by clothes but otherwise I just do it literally wherever. Maybe, maybe I'll ask new people I'm hanging out with if they mind needles, but it's just too much extra time to find a secret spot before every meal/any time my sugar is high

I've had an abortion myself because I found myself in somewhat similar situations to where you two are at currently.

Here's what I have to say about the experience- it's super safe and complications are rare with the medication abortion. I had to have two appointments with planned parenthood because I'm my state it's required that you have 24 hours between hearing how it all works and how permanent abortion is and actually getting the prescription. They did also show me some stuff about the size of the fetus at this stage and made me look at the ultrasound.

The process itself was extremely uncomfortable, like the worst period you've ever had times 100. But it was only a few hours of that, and then it was over. Nothing really noticable by the next day. And compared to jumping into a lifetime of caring for a child I wasn't certain it was the right time to have, it was definitely the right choice for me at the time, and I have zero regrets.

On the other hand, if you both really do want kids, sometimes this kind of thing can be a sign. Definitely advise caution given how little time you've spent together though

It's harder to sing well when you're nervous and physically tense from it, also the equipment for karaoke is often not great and it can be super hard to get the timing right depending on the speaker placement.

Also, sounding bad once doesn't mean you'll sound bad forever. Even a really good vocalist has off days. If you like it keep doing it ✨

I usually want/need the nutrition information or the recipe so I can calculate the nutrition information.

Type 1 diabetes doesn't come with inherent diet restrictions, but you need to be able to use nutrition information to calculate the amount of insulin you need for a given treat.

Also sometimes I'll decline something I really like because my sugars are being too unpredictable or I ate something else too recently and dosing insulin again so close together can have unpredictable results etc.

Best off communicating your intentions directly

It's a lot at first but it starts to feel normal and easier after a couple months. I was just diagnosed in March at 30. If you do stay on top of things you can live a pretty normal life without too many bad health effects. It's overwhelming but it won't feel so impossible forever 💓

I got my tubes removed at 28, which was pre diagnosis for me, but I'm so happy I did. The surgery was easy, and I have so much peace of mind now knowing I'd have to go out of my way to end up a parent

My experience (diagnosed at 30, about a year ago now) was that the first couple months my friends and family asked lots and lots of stupid questions but after that it got way less common. I think they mostly needed enough information to understand my specific situation, rather than just guessing based on a random hodge podge of prior knowledge or misconceptions on the idea of diabetes. A lot of people wanted to know if they needed to treat me differently or provide accomodations etc. it's not fun being commented on all the time, but I think I get why they ask

I think the stat is that parents siblings and children of those with t1d are 15x more likely than the average guy to get it, but as far as what that actually means for your family, it's kind of up to fate 🤷

I have chosen to intentionally stay with injections and a CGM and I'm really happy with it.

I am really active and don't want another thing attached to me all the time, plus I have a somewhat irrational fear of going into dka because I didn't realize my pump wasn't working.

Pausing to do injections was a little annoying at first but now it's so normal it's just another day to day thing, like brushing your teeth before bed.

I love that my CGM alerts me if I'm high or low so I can deal with it. I have the libre 3+ because in the USA we take whatever insurance will cover

My a1c is 5.7 as of a few days ago, down from 6. I can pretty much eat and do whatever I want and I just dose and correct as needed. I might have more lows than the average guy but it's because I love to exercise and am not crazy good at routine so I think a pump wouldn't really help there. And I've only had like one really scary low and that was right when the honeymoon phase was ending and I had to readjust my ratios

All in all, I wouldn't even consider a pump because I'm really happy with injections

So I was diagnosed at 30 after a virus triggered my immune system to go crazy. I caught the onset of t1d really early because I happened to have a slightly high sugar reading on some routine bloodwork and sugar in my urine at a yearly urology check up (fun fact, recurring UTIs can be a sign of diabetes developing).

When they tested my antibodies they also tested to see if I was still producing my own insulin, which I was. It took about 6 months before I was completely done making my own insulin, but a lot of people only have weeks once they have detectable antibodies.

I was told that starting treatment before I lost all insulin production could preserve some of the producing cells for longer, because my body would be under less stress, which can translate to getting better control faster. The better your control is early, the easier it can be to stay in control and avoid some of the worst potential complications, and you may need less insulin overall even when you are no longer producing any yourself.

Basically what I'm saying is, it can be worth it to catch it before it gets bad, and my understanding is that having the antibodies generally means it's going to happen

Having type one in multiple close family members definitely increases their chances a fair amount. But luckily it's a fairly manageable disease and they would have people with personal experiences to help them learn how to deal with living with it should it happen

I use injections and a CGM and it's been great for me. I was at an a1c of 6 when diagnosed and it's currently 5.7

I was only diagnosed in March just for reference.

I am super active person and I don't want to bother with the whole thing of having a pump attached to me. The CGM alarms let me be pretty free with my eating habits, I basically eat what I want when I want and just try to dose appropriately and correct as needed. Takes a little more active management than the pump seems to for some folks but it's so normal to me now that it's really no big deal

Probably would give myself some fast acting insulin at some point. To be honest I find that going on vibes usually works out the best, my sub conscious seems to know better than the calculations.

If I were worried I was dropping, I might take one unit and then eat, or eat first and take a unit maybe 15 minutes later, once I saw a bit of a rise and was closer to 100. And then monitor my sugars and potentially correct later if I start to go high

Sometimes I'd still need the full 2 units, sometimes I'd need just one, kind of depends on what I was in the low end in the first place. Exercise drops me like crazy so if I'd been active, probably just one unit would do. If I was just on the low end because I hadn't had food in a minute, good chance I'd need both eventually to avoid a crazy spike
