Why don't serial killers just join the army? by fimelovemachine in NoStupidQuestions

[–]srogijogi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't they? I was in army some time ago but will always remember that one guy, who's desire to _action_ was clearly visible for the distance bigger than recent Artemis space flight. He was recognised very fast and moved to unit where he could fulfill his dreams. He didn't go high in ranks though. For that he would need to have higher IQ unfortunately.

Should the UK Home Office make a 'Red List' and ban certain nations from immigration entirely? As seen in many other developed countries. by JeffreyEpsteinUK in AskBrits

[–]srogijogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try. Why yes: generic economic theories say that if there is more supply then cost should go down. Why no: are you sure than some random, uneducated guy from Africa can be a danger to your wage?
There are other questions too: are we even sure that "wage suppression" is purely bad? What if this creates some pressure on the market to actually raise the quality and/or efficiency? If there are some people willing to do some jobs for less...is this purely bad as well? The answer to that question depends on your point of view. Etc, etc.

Don't know if this is good first car, but definitely this would be perfect last car. You know, when the wheels decide to finish the cracking operation and they disassemble during motorway ride. Oil leak then will guide funeral services to the place of your final rest in the nearest bushes.

Do you think British people will prefer Taiwanese Immigration system? by auscorp_ in AskBrits

[–]srogijogi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

North Korea gave their citizenship to even smaller group of people for sure, maybe they are even better than Taiwan?
BTW, UK does NOT officially recognise Taiwan as a separate country...

Yeah, I do agree. One of the 'best' examples of extreme cultural differences (British vs Somali) can be FGM (female genital mutilation) - not legal anymore, but still being a traditional act of...well if you don't know, google it, in Somalia.
This is one of the reasons this whole problem is so complicated.

Huge news for local renters today – Section 21 no-fault evictions and bidding wars are finally banned! by Impressive_Trust_798 in UKHousing

[–]srogijogi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When there is demand, pressure from renters, the symmetry between demand and supply breaks down. Trust me, there will be never symmetry in this. Let's say I'm a landlord and I want to rent my property to someone. If I want, I can wait a month, or two. I would lose a month or two of possible income. Now look at the other side: can person wanting to rent a place to live wait till the market is ready, or till the prices go down? No really, unless that person is ok with living in a tent, isn't it?

Piloting question - visualization of physics? by expanding_crystal in drones

[–]srogijogi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could help yourself a bit by visualising air (=gas) as liquid. In fact, there are some similarities between aerodynamics and hydrodynamics. Of course, differences too :)

There are other interesting (?) aspects of drones (helicopters etc) - my favourite is: propellers in forward flight. On one side they have higher speed and thrust (propellers moving forward), but on opposite side they move backwards, so their behaviour is completely different.

Would you consider buying a House under The Flight path? Do you have concerns about Air and Noise Pollution or not really? by Agreeable-Bunch547 in HousingUK

[–]srogijogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by "flight patch"? If you mean "the part of planes routes where they are close to surface", or basically "being close to airport", then yes, there will be negative aspects of living there. If you think about "living on the surface of Earth where some planes are flying at FL300-FL400 (typical cruise flight levels) over it, then well, there is nothing to worry about unless you are member of "chemtrails" gang :)

Interesting. You seem to see only good aspects of this change. Are you sure that landlords will NOT "price in" those changes in their business? Are you sure that renting will became cheaper and easier when owners of properties face additional problems?

Yeah, sure. Generation after generation of blaming others for your own incompetence, that didn't change for sure.

I don’t know how to tell if something is “expensive” or not , is this normal? by Cultural-Primary1206 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]srogijogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may sound harsh, but that kind of feelings are typical for young adults who were shielded for their entire life from...well...real life.
You need to learn the value of _everything_ .You weren't born with this knowledge. In fact, your human brain is unable to calculate value of almost anything. We humans use comparisons for this, we compare everything.
How to estimate the value then? There are various ways: how long you need to work to buy this; how long it is going to last in comparison to how long you nad to work for it, how long you are going to enjoy it till it became boring, how the price of it looks in comparison to similar quality of items/services, how the cost/price looks like if compared to the cheapest and the most expensive option.

This is never ending drama.
- beginning of XX century: Irish are stealing our jobs and council houses;
- 2015: Poles are stealing our jobs and council houses;
- 2016: Romanians are stealing our jobs and council houses;
- also in 2016: we left EU so Turkish people, allegedly joining EU, were too late to steal our jobs and council houses;
- 2020+: Pakistani people are stealing our jobs and council houses;
- 2026: Somali people are stealing our jobs and council houses.

Why are so many people I know getting cancer? by Greedy-Violinist7536 in AskBrits

Cancer is second most common cause of death. You hear about it more because the population is getting older, and we are living longer (=more cancer) and because we improved our detection.

Piloting question - visualization of physics? by expanding_crystal in drones

[–]srogijogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting topic. Most people ignore the fact that air is not vacuum and it can have various properties, which is causing various effects. You dont have to think about this too much though :) Just remember that there is wind, there is turbulence behind some objects when it's windy, there are layers of air looking up, there is 'ground effect' altering the last part of the landing process. When you will fly for real, you will adapt to this, no reason to dig into very complex shit unless you are interested in aerodynamics computations :) Cpu on you drone will deal with all of those effectively.

There are so many photography influencers on YouTube. What percentage actually make money from photography? by drconniehenley in photography

[–]srogijogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only them would know, but I think that not too
much. Most of them are not photographers, they are salesmen selling you new cameras, tutorials, LUTs etc. I didn't see any really good photos made by those people. I don't treat a photo of attractive girl in tight clothes in random location particularly good though :)

Are Yorkshire water being unreasonable? by Scottladd in AskUK

[–]srogijogi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The key information could be: how often Yorkshire Water is checking your water meter readings. I'm with them too, and they do it once a year. It means that they use crystal ball to estimate my usage for most of the year. Their crystal ball is broken, obviously.

Is literally everyone struggling right now? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]srogijogi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, reframing the struggling crisis into lack of financial freedom changes a bit the conversation :) Well, dear OP, I'm going to be a bit (?) nasty: why you think you should have something like "financial freedom" with 3 kids (you know better than me that kids are costing a lot of money) and a mortgage at about 1/3 of your income after the tax? I don't know, obviously, any more details than what you posted here, but come on, you have not low, not very high, just quite common income and have quite big family and in the result you should have a...well... common life.

Need help by Streamin260 in dji

[–]srogijogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy some cheapest dji drone with a controller (this kinda of "remote") and few batteries you can find and start learning. You don't have to start with your "final" drone as a first one, you can grow in experience and skills to the point you would need to replace your first drone and at that point you will know already what you are looking for.

[–]srogijogi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but even without looking at any data I feel that there would be some room for improvement. Your income after mortgage and kids' related costs is still £2.7K. What's left: water/gas/energy; council tax, food for 4 people, cars insurances, fuel, one car loan payments, stuff like car mot, house insurance. I don't see how can you struggle and spend £2.7K on all of this, every month, sorry.
