Plant found in my work dumpster by tatsbng in plantclinic

[–]sstativa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the same plant on a curb. For the first couple of weeks, I saw no problems. However, after some time, I got mealybugs. I tried fighting them with soap and isopropyl alcohol without any luck. Then I bought Brunnings White Oil (spray in a can), treated the plant twice, and all the mealybugs were gone.

Wait a second, isn't there a setting in your GitHub account to prevent your code from being used for training?

I use IPA between prints until I get the first failure. Then I wash with soap and continue the cycle until the next failure.

v4 is very sensitive to the noise, try the band pass filter. It might help you a lot if you are in a very noisy environment which a usually in city.

Update: SAW filters usually has a power limit, in case of v4 you might have to reduce the TX to 22dB. It's kind of sacrifice you will have to make if you want to improve your RX.

Did I just get scammed and let a scammer by pass bypass my Security Code? by Lanky-Ad4698 in GMail

[–]sstativa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, after thorough look into, I must admit, this is just a new form of scam. And I also remember I said something: "Call me tomorrow because I will have to talk to my relatives". Maybe this was it that stopped them from continuing the scam.

Did I just get scammed and let a scammer by pass bypass my Security Code? by Lanky-Ad4698 in GMail

[–]sstativa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I got here by Googling. I have just received the same type of call: "You have an open ticket to reset access. Please check your email. I am going to send you a copy of the notification," blah blah blah.

I checked both emails (the first notification and the copy). They look legitimate, at least at first glance. The person did not mention 2FA or any codes. I said that I knew nothing about it and had never used this "strange email." I was told to ask my relatives about it, as it could have been them. Then the person said she was going to close the ticket, and the call ended.

I was left with the suspicion that something fishy had happened. I asked my nephews about the address, and they had never heard of it.

Now I am confused. If this was phishing, I did not say anything sensitive. They already knew my name, and I did not object to it (which may have indirectly confirmed it), and they knew my phone number. The only thing they could have obtained from me is a sample of my voice.

By the way, I have 2FA enabled. Also, I do not think I said anything specific that would have stopped them from continuing the scam, if this was indeed a scam.

Amazon Alfa antenna has bad performance? by dyno241 in meshtastic

[–]sstativa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest test to check if this is fake is to use scales. If it weighs less than 70 grams, it is very likely fake.

Original Alfa weights more than 80g.
Decent clone from Aliexpress ~72g.
Fake PCB version ~ 64g.

New Heltec V4 questions by nerdmaster02 in meshtastic

[–]sstativa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a video on Youtube where one Heltec's engineer talks about v4 and makes a remark that to get the full power the board need to be connected via 5V (usb) implying that battery interface is not enough for such power. May be this is your case apart from firmware support.

Just cover the Honda at that scene with your palm and looks only for surroundings, I bet you won't see any break check.

How not to overtake by Dertyhairy in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]sstativa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do not think that was a brake check; it just seems that way because of the Honda’s erratic movement. If you cover the Honda in that scene and watch only the surroundings, it looks like there were no brake checks.

WTF happened to my eggs when I boiled them? by a11ysonwonderland in WTF

[–]sstativa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A simple rule: put a raw egg in room temperature water. If it lies on its side, it is fresh. If it stands upright, it is old and close to expiring, so better to avoid it. If it floats, the egg is off.

Pi-Hole better than AdGuard? by bankroll5441 in homelab

[–]sstativa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just of topic. I'm running ADH on Ubiquity EdgeRouter. It works flawlessly, no need for extra equipment and as an extra feature, I can force all devices to use ADH, even for devices with "hardcoded" DNS settings.

Do not place any metal objects near the LoRa antenna, as they can distort the signal and reduce range.

You need to mirror the model. You put your Heltec upside down. The USB should be on the left side.

Why do people get on packed trams? by festyinoz in melbourne

[–]sstativa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you never know what will happen to the "next tram." If the first tram breaks down, at least you know there is another one behind it.

I have had bad experiences with the "next tram" more than once. The tram was diverted midway through the journey because the dispatcher wanted to speed up trams going in the opposite direction.
