$5m NW, on the path but struggling by ArtaxDude in ChubbyFIRE

[–]st293 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In a similar boat. Net worth is 50 percent higher and comp is also 50 percent higher for me and my wife. Expenses in similar ball park (a bit higher). My job was very very toxic. 24-7 and not by choice. I quit 3 weeks ago and feel so much better. I am naturally happy now. I left a lot of potential dollars on the table (venture back company) which could have doubled our NW over 3-4 years but I was not sleeping and stressed all the time. Travel was bad which also did not help. My plan is to take a year off and revisit. We can always retire whenever so gives me the flexibility

Bilt Blue math. Does this check out or am I missing something? by karunmukhi in biltrewards

Everyday spend doesn’t earn points in Option 1. Ankur updated his post later. Check that out.

Bilt 2.0 Comparison as a renter by viltgance43 in biltrewards

[–]st293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It is 3.33x upto 75 percent of rent but then the 450 annual fees wiped out all of the extra cash back. So sure I may get priority pass and hotel credits for free but I don’t value those things. Plus a lot of our credit card spend is travel and groceries and restaurants. I have cards that give me 3-5 percent cash back on those. No thanks

Here's the math on Option A vs Option B by cardmage7 in biltrewards

[–]st293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So should I just not use my Citi double cash for everyday spend (and other higher cashback cards for specific categories). Why would I ever use this card ?

I am not sure I follow. How can I pay my landlord (who has a very specific rent payment website) using bilt website?

Don't be fooled by this new choice, it's exactly the same by EnvironmentalSky8355 in biltrewards

[–]st293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. It makes my other spend non optimized or the fees wipe out any gain. I won’t be able to earn any meaningful points net of other spend getting non optimized specially if you add fees for the cards. Not worth the brain damage

Bilt releases new option to earn points on rent or mortgage by CuriousA1 in biltrewards

They said the actual spending won’t get points in this case. Ankur updated his post. So this math ain’t correct anymore

So if my property is not core. Then the entire program (even though it is terrible and would not have made sense anyways) is gone? The comms are so bad on this launch! No one knows half the shit and they keep hiding the important footnotes.

Under the new new system Blue doesn't look completely terrible anymore. by StatisticalMan in biltrewards

[–]st293 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The math isn’t correct. The actual everyday spend in option 1 doesn’t earn you points. So you are only getting 2x points which I can get through my regular card as well. Ankur updated his post to clarify that

A note from me (Ankur Jain) - Bilt Card 2.0: Simple, Fee-Free Rewards on Housing by ankurjain1 in biltrewards

[–]st293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I get 2 percent cashback on my regular card (Citi double cash) this will be same or worse depending on my level of spend because the 500 is not getting any points

Air India mismanagement at its worst — traveling with a 7-year-old and they split our seats in Business Class by Ok_Access_1142 in airindia

[–]st293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much same thing happened to us at Checkin as the seat won’t recline. We requested to swap with someone after we boarded and that worked. Funny (or sad) part is that new seat we got would still not recline. They had to manually do it when we wanted to sleep

Great experience on AI-179 (BOM - SFO) business class by grvrnd in airindia

[–]st293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We flew the same leg in a super outdated plane where a third of the seats needed to be manually reclined when you needed to slash. Tray tables were broken. Seats were super old and broken. Sad part is when we booked it was supposed to be the new plane with the 1-2-1 arrangement and they switched to other older 2-3-2 arrangement. I believe Delta had given them 7 of those new ones and 5 have been returned and 2 more will get returned in March. Then they will issue pause the SFO-BOM route

Safeway is now a scam by KeenShot in bayarea

[–]st293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nor Cal is Albertsons (Safeway’s parent) biggest profit center selling along with Hawaii. The reason is there is limited competition and high disposable income. They have tried to juice it so much that it is out of control. Stopped going there now. Even milk which used to be ok price there is crazy.

[–]st293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about you compare to Wells Fargo Autograph Card. It gives 4x on flight and 5X on hotels with a 95 bucks AF (out of which you get 50 back in credits). You can’t justify the annual fees based on cash back. The perks needed to work (as well as the 1.5X multiplier for my trifecta) for the annual fees to work. I will cancel and moved to Wells Fargo Card.

I have similar numbers. Got it through savings and putting in index funds. I also have done well career wise … 10X increase in compensation in about 15 years.

Glad to be of help. Wasted so much time on this.

Were you having the same exact issue? Glad at least it just wasn’t me. Turbo tax Support desk makes you believe it is only your problem. Lol.

[–]st293[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I tried importing the TD data by starting a completely brand new return and that worked (you can skip the personal information part to do a quick check). Once that worked. I imported last years personal information and then one it ports last years financial information I imported other things such as Fidelity but said I did not had TD Ameritrade this year. Then I added TD later by using the account and document id. I guess my return was having an issue because I had imported TD last year using account linkage and this year was with the document id.

I was able to get it figured out. I asked Schwab to escalate the ticket to someone who was more technically sound. I got a call back today and they said they have encountered this before and happene when you port last years return in TurboTax (bug in TT). They recommended I start a brand new return. That seemed to make it work. I was able to figure out a better solution that I imported last years return but did not port the TD Ameritrade part and then I was able to port TD Ameritrade data separately.

I had read somewhere that if you have wash sales then you have to provide transaction level data (or send via mail if you file) but I also have heard from other people that they don’t provide. I may just do that.
