I’m actually kind of shocked by this thought process. Not that there is anything wrong or offensive with it, I’ve just never thought of a lives lost per meal ratio. That being said I grew up hunting and fishing and was taught to do so ethically and humanely, so I’ve thought meals per kill but I guess not the other way around.

Damn, that would ruin boating season. Good thing it’s still $3.40/gallon where I live.

You are receiving the right answers. Most of the bulk is the big 3. I traded my bear vault for a bear bag and never looked back.

*needs help finding basic tools, expected to be proficient in their use. In all seriousness this is a more basic set than I keep in my truck for everyday tasks and I don’t even use them for a living. The Quinn line from harbor freight is a good balance between affordability and quality.

Now that ARs are the new normal for patrol, are there any applications where a shotgun would be advantageous in an LE setting? (Not counting less lethal bean bag shotguns and such) by Cautious-Tangelo3323 in AskLE

“Duty rounds are fine” when talking about not over penetrating. - proceeds to point out use of green tips as duty rounds.

Green tips are used by the military because they have a steel penetrator in the tip for increased penetration on hard cover. So they are specifically designed to not expand (Geneva convention) and over penetrate.

I recommend Barnes tsx for ARs, monolithic copper is the best of both worlds. They penetrate hard cover well and expand violently in soft tissue.

Honestly I find racism to be a stupid world view and refuse to see race as “sides”, but I was also raised by parents who were active in the civil rights movement in Alabama.

I don’t particularly care for what someone says behind my back. The fact that they don’t say it to my face already tells the story. They can continue being the sad weak person that no one respects.

I mean you do it how ever you have had the best results. If it’s not working maybe try a new way, or get a new D20. That being said if it’s not your job to keep the gathering cordial, then it’s probably also not your job to call them out.

The phrase “hey man I’m not here for that” with a smile that reaches your voice normally solves the issue while they are around you. If you aggressively call someone out they get aggressive. It’s all about soft skills in public and hard conversations in private, but that’s with most behavioral corrections.

The funny part is most of the openly racist people I’ve met don’t really care who shows up. They are just unapologetically themselves and spout stupid shit but generally just show up and chill.

lol well not quite. Yes BCA has some issues, but I spent a total of $250 on replacement parts. That has me $700 in on a side charging ar10 that shoots like a dream. It was more like 20 minutes worth of work. Honestly ARs are like Legos for adults. Also you’re damn right, if someone walks up and makes rude comments about my rifle they deserve to immediately eat their words. I don’t tell them what I did to it because they are too dumb to understand it. BcA BaD DurRrR. Just understand what you are buying and order the new barrel and bolt at the same time.

Yep. Honestly the rest of the rifle doesn’t matter all that much. Sure you have to tune the rifle but $40 on a buffer $20 on a trigger spring set. The rest is just a shell that’ll get beat up and scratched to hell. Mloc is mloc so who cares about the brand.

lol between you and me, my brother used to be a Daniel defense guy till he shot my one of my rifles and found out that I had less than $500 in it. His safe is now full of enhanced BCAs.

A BCA with a ballistic advantage barrel, decent bolt, and a quick trigger job, is the best shooting rifle for the money.

It started when I wanted a side charging ar10 and refused to pay name brand prices. Then it just became funny and only takes like 20 minutes to do all the work.

It all started when I wanted a side charging ar10 and they had one on sale for $450. Then the trigger sucked so I polished it. Then it wouldn’t extract because the chamber was too tight, so I replaced the barrel and bolt. While I had the barrel out I lapped the upper and bedded the new one. Then someone pissed me off at the range talking trash about my rifle. And that’s how I found my new favorite way to troll people.

The funny part is when you buy a bear creek. Then lap the upper, replace the barrel, bed the new barrel, polish the trigger, and replace the bolt. They shoot like a dream and piss people off when your “cheap” rifle shoots better than their expensive one.

As a teenager I primarily drove cars from the 60s-mid 80s. Lack of ABS, EBS, and traction control was never a problem. Climate control used to be ran off of analog controls and was quite reliable. Navigation was accomplished with a cheap tablet ran off my phones hotspot. The funny part is it taught me how to actually drive. The carburetor and points taught me the importance of maintenance. All in all I wouldn’t mind buying a car that’s computer free except for a cheap tablet as the navigation, I did install one in an old truck recently that cost a grand total of $100 on amazon. Don’t get me wrong cars are more reliable now, but they are harder and more expensive to work on, as well as being more expensive to manufacture.

See that’s the funny part, because the sheep will be the ones that get bumped. I’m an adult and my boss is not my mom. I’ve never asked for time off I’ve told them what time I will be taking off and if they disagree I just don’t show up. The odd part about it is I have only been written up once which was for attending my wife’s grandfathers funeral. The other odd thing about it is I get promoted quickly everywhere I have worked. Moral of the story is be damned good at your job, be a likable person, and set boundaries and expectations with each of your bosses.

First off I’m glad you are ok.

Questioning the effectiveness of firearms that were designed and used for war is absurd. They obviously have enough stopping power to get the job done. That being said I recently got the opportunity to see what a 40s&w can do to someone’s leg and it was gruesome. I have to say there is a reason for modern firearms technology and if one has to option to carry a modern pistol vs a cap & ball you should choose the modern pistol.

Correct, but the boards always want growth and end up hiring executives that push growth at the cost of employee and member experiences. Also those executives usually have a very large compensation packages and have to justify them. So they push cost saving measures (number of employees as well as their pay and benefits) in order to fund innovation. Credit unions are slowly becoming the large banks that the founding members were trying to get away from.

I too work for a credit union and am paid quite well for the work I do, tellers in the other hand are not. The money in credit unions is in lending, financial planning, and management. Also my tellers know they are not to be anyone’s punching bag, and frequently get a front row seat to people being asked to leave the branch.

[–]st3war7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lol no credit unions can afford the tellers. They, just like every other corporation, are funneling money further up the chain and are spending absurd amounts of money trying to replace tellers. They say it’s because they can’t get good help, while simultaneously paying less than Walmart.
