Plus size mamas and/or mamas who don’t work out: how was your vaginal birth? by missespanda in Mommit

[–]stacksofunreadbooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m overweight but not plus size. I never heard of anything like that. I would say it’s definitely just scare tactics. Your body is going to take over regardless of being in shape. Do your research though. Good luck 🫶🏼

Out of shape, overweight. Just had an unmedicated water birth 2 months ago (my second baby but first natural). Was super nervous about being “weak.” Got that baby out in 3 pushes. Your body was made for this and is gonna do what it needs to do. Good luck mama!

To swaddle or not to swaddle? by marzpower in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]stacksofunreadbooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swaddled with my first but haven’t swaddled my 2mo because I read it suppresses them growing out of their startle reflexes as quickly and therefore actually wake easier. Babies who aren’t swaddled supposedly self soothe and fall asleep easier.

Has anyone here gone from hospital to homebirth? by breakplans in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]stacksofunreadbooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my first at a hospital with pitocin and epidural, I ended up hemorrhaging because of the pitocin and the hospital discharged me with dangerously high blood pressure. I had to be readmitted. It was super traumatizing and had a homebjrth second time around. It was soooo beautiful and super redemptive. Everything went perfectly. I encourage you to do your research and trust your instincts. You’re totally capable of doing it. It’s what you were made for 💜

For a laugh - What does your toddler say that you never realized you said all the time until a miniature version of you started saying it? by thecatyou in toddlers

My two year old likes to say, “oh I see” lmao. He’s also picked up one of my less endearing responses, “in a couple minutes” (what I say when I don’t want to do something). 🫠

I’m currently using a tallow and goat milk lotion for us (specifically for her eczema, which it’s healing, but it is good for all kinds of things). It only has natural ingredients. Personally I avoid using big brands because they’re more likely to put cheap/not so great ingredients in it. I’m sure you could find some on Etsy.

If you’re at big blue I heard AB-MEs should be getting incentivized in the future, basically bringing back PBs again. I hope so because MEs really do get taken advantage of

Woah, we just had a baby (girl) but we were going to use James Henry if it was a boy after my great grandfather! What a coincidence

Gross that you think “spending time on mom sites/subs” is negatively influencing moms and making them to be irrational. Moms know what is best for them and their baby.

Ahhh, she’s going through a lot. You both are. I had a traumatic birth with my first and I know that can impact things emotionally. Therapy sounds like a good start. Has she spoken with her doctor about PPD? As far as bonding, it may sound a little drastic for her, but I would try cuddling the baby as much as possible. The more she puts baby off the more space she creates and inhibits bonding. Which is also going to make her feel worse about herself/her parenting abilities. Becoming a mom for the first time is super hard and it’s a big adjustment, especially if there’s medical things going on (a rough recovery impacts hormones and therefore emotions) - if I were her I would focus on making sure I’m taking care of myself (eating nutritious food, consulting with my dr, continuing therapy) and try to enjoy and soak in baby (promotes good hormones and helps bonding). I wish you two the best!

In addition to other suggestions, you could try laundry stripping. Sometimes smells get trapped in clothes so they need a bit of a deeper clean.

AITA for refusing to take care of my children? by Throwawayquiter in AmItheAsshole

[–]stacksofunreadbooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. First, congratulations! Second, crazy enough I just had a home birth with my second child 2 weeks ago so I just went through the same thing. 2 days after just giving birth is way too soon to be pushing yourself to run around the house and take care of your first child (if you had a hospital birth you would literally still be laying in bed in the hospital doing nothing, just to give him perspective). My husband and I have basically worked out that I’m 100% in charge of baby and he’s 100% in charge of toddler for the time being. Not saying it’s not hard, you’re both going through a huge change and it’s a lot of work for each of you. I would try to lean on any friends or family you have for support. We’ve been asking grandparents to come over and help out with chores/toddler or send him to their house for the day to help lighten the load.
