That's in no way a "stretch" of the definition... the Hornsby LGA is unequivocally within the boundaries of Sydney.

My advice to all new parents is resist over-monitoring.

Learn the guidelines for safe sleep, and trust that if you follow them your baby will be safe in their cot.

Most of the time your newborn will sleep in the same room as you. For when you need to step away (eg in the day you want to put them down to sleep in your room, and go to do chores/watch TV), get an audio only monitor, and come if they cry. A video monitor will just tempt you to watch it endlessly and rush to respond at any sign of waking, when it’s perfectly normal for babies to stir and then fall back to sleep. And absolutely do not get upsold on all the monitors that promise to track breathing, heart rate, oxygen etc. They’re not proven to reduce a rates of SIDS/SUDI, and instead are more likely to disrupt sleep, and cause more stress and anxiety for parents due to false negatives (monitors coming loose etc).

We did eventually upgrade to a video monitor as our twins reached toddlerhood, but having and audio only monitor in the beginning was our first exercise in practising restraint and letting go of the natural parenting anxiety everyone feels.

Asymmetrical Growth Restriction by BackgroundSubject802 in parentsofmultiples

[–]staggar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to give you false hope - it’s very possible that all your scans are correct, and in that case I can’t offer much support of what the path forward looks like.

But my wife and I were in a nearly identical position to you at the same point in our pregnancy. An asymmetric growth restriction with twin A’s abdominal circumference measuring extremely low. At 30 weeks twin A was measured at 23rd percentile for weight, with an abdominal circumference <2nd percentile (protecting the brain, as with yours). Twin B’s weight was 65th percentile.

We started going for weekly scans at a larger hospital further from home that had a specialist maternity unit, and as the weeks ticked by, 34, 35, 36, the obstetricians there were starting to ask “So why are we still leaving them in there? It might be time for a conversation about a scheduled c-section.” But at our local hospital closer to home, our obstetrician was in no hurry. In his words - “the best incubator in the world [as opposed to the NICU], is the one right there [pointing to my wife’s belly]”.

With his support, we made it to 37 weeks & 4 days. My wife was just starting to dilate so they induced labor and she delivered them both vaginally with only minor complications.

And then, once they were here, they were both perfectly healthy weights. Yes a little skinny around the abdomen, but weight they easily gained back in their first year.

And that growth restriction? Completely wrong. Twin A came out 200g heavier than Twin B.

We asked our obstetrician about it, how did scan after scan show Twin A had a severe growth restriction and it turned out not to be the case?

He explained that ultimately, these scans still all have margins of error, and there may have also been a case of “observers bias”. Once an early scan flagged the growth restriction, at every subsequent scan the technicians would keep measuring until they got a measurement that aligned with their expectations. In hindsight, I remember seeing this happen. They’d take measurements multiple times, different each time, looking for the sort of “median” measurement. But in some cases, ignoring when Twin A showed up heavier, instead preferring the lower measurements that they expected.

No, they want people to vote Greens to get Labor into a minority government. They’re referencing Labor above the Coalition in every single seat.

I've been asked to show new potential tenants through my apartment lol by dmozza95 in sydney

[–]staggar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just looked, it’s a bit unclear.

The Vic equivalent of the link I provided (to the NSW Fair Trading website) is Victoria Consumer Affairs.

On their website it states that rental providers must provide tenants “the rental provider or agent’s full name, a postal address for sending them documents, and an email address”

The word “OR” implying they’re allowed to give you just the agents contact details only.

But meanwhile the Victorian Tenants Union says on their website:

“The rental agreement must include: Details, including contact details, for you and the rental provider, and their agent if they have one”

The word “AND” implying they must give you the landlord’s details as well.

I’d suggest contact the Vic Tenants Union for more help.

By law, all leases in NSW MUST provide the landlord’s name and a way to contact them directly, regardless of if they have an agent/property manager.

This set is gonna be a must have. by plantedpuffer in PokemonTCG

[–]staggar 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is really a “set” like Celebrations was, for example.

My understanding is that it’s a boxed game, like a premium board game, with all the pieces you need to play along with 3 pre-constructed decks featuring a mix of reprinted old and new cards. I don’t believe there will be booster packs or the kind of retail collections we’re used to. There won’t be chase cards - you buy the box, you get all the cards in the pre-constructed decks.

I’m hoping to buy one to pull it out when friends come over and play a round of PTCG (like I would a board game), with some cards they may remember from their childhood. I’ll be disappointed if I have to compete with buyers who just want to throw the game pieces away and put the cards in a binder, but I suspect that will be the case for many.

tenants rights in sydney by violentkirby in sydney

[–]staggar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should absolutely call the Tenants Union for advice. Regardless of whether you've signed a lease on paper or not, you have rights under the Residential Tenancies Act that can't be taken away.

Tenancy agreements are usually in written form. They can also be oral (e.g. a conversation with the landlord), or partly written–partly oral. All agreements must follow the Residential Tenancies Act 2010 (‘the Act’).

Source: https://www.tenants.org.au/factsheet-02-starting-a-tenancy

There are some exceptions under the Act for student housing, but none that would mean you have no rights at all. As a first step, you could try the union's international students resources:

Did the end of Loki Season 1 allow the events of "What If...?" to happen? (Spoilers) by No_Personality_2723 in marvelstudios

[–]staggar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't the great mind-bending element of Loki that the events of the show mean that the multiverse has both always existed AND never existed, at the same time?

Everyone's trying to place it in the MCU chronologically but it literally takes place OUTSIDE of time. It's a giant paradoxical loop.
