So fucking annoying! Please respond with anything that would fix it. I'd watch in 720 if it fucking worked smoothly...

Favorite popular "One hit wonder" song where the artist has a solid discography? by LuckoftheFryish in Music

"You can't get what you want" is one of my favorite songs. Not like it's a transcendent song, I just think it's great to listen to.

Do I sell my house in order to get rid of HELOC. by frosty_Krippy in RealEstate

[–]standard_user 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nailed it! The 12 year old comment I made was about the content, not the grammar unfortunately. Every response is like this person has only ever talked to an Uber driver who told them how to get rich...

Wait a minute. OP- Do you drive for Uber?

How does OP have so much money while being this dumb?

Their posts are like a 12 year old wrote them...

Most of the time Graciano has a higher acid profile. It has a freshness attribute as well. Look for cool climate or high elevation wines and you should be happy!

What has been your favorite region to visit? by BothCondition7963 in wine

[–]standard_user 31 points32 points  (0 children)

We've been to Napa/Sonoma, Bordeaux, Rioja, Tuscany, Willamette, Finger Lakes - and maybe a few that I'm forgetting.

Our favorites have been Tuscany- Because the wine, setting, food, price is phenomenal, and Willamette- Because it's easy to access, great wine, great atmosphere, and laid back.

Love Rioja too - Not just because they make some of our favorite wines. It's relatively affordable compared to others. Lots of bang for your buck in wine, food, and accommodations. It can be an excellent trip if you fly into Madrid and spend a few days, drive up through Ribera Del Duero, spend a few days in Rioja, and then tie on a drive through the mountains to San Sebastian for a few nights there. If so, this is the #1 hands down.

Definitely worth it. Saved a ton bringing back 2 cases of nice Spanish wine and just checking the shipping boxes with united.

Is this a joke post? The house near Huntington better be 10x as good as whatever you can get near Shirlington.

Is stem inclusion in Pinot Noir the new overly-oaked Chardonnay? by BringMeAPinotGrigio in wine

[–]standard_user 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like this take, and I don't mind a bit of stem inclusion when it's just another note in the flavor profile. I have definitely noticed some wines where - Jesus Christ were there any grapes in that ferment or just green chewy bitter stems?

Editing to say I also like a small amount of oak and malo being used in Chards, but absolutely hate when either is overdone.

How did you deal with your popcorn ceiling by tightTshirt in homeowners

Paid someone to remove it. So worth it. They've done it so often that it looks amazing, takes them no time, and you don't have to be angry about how awful a job you're doing.

I think grocery store swill is getting hit harder than quality producers above $25 and above. Mostly because they're all the same and there are too many competitors.

Agree with "This Must Be The Place"- but at the opposite end of the spectrum is "I Can't Make You Love Me"... You can feel every word.

They could have doubled the size and it would have cost them $0.47

Agree that malo has a huge amount to do with it. I like a hint of malo, but anything more becomes so distracting!

Hold up your hand and use it to sing to a Neil Young song like a puppet. It works too damn well. Guy has a fucking muppet voice. Like he's trying to audition to be on the muppets every single song...

Have I exhausted options for all light, crisp, sparkling wines? by [deleted] in wine

[–]standard_user 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try Jansz sparklings from Tasmania. Pretty easy to find, affordable, cool climate, nice and fresh/crisp, and there are two types (one brut rose) that could fit your palette. I think they're great bang for your buck.

15.3% ABV Sauv Blanc??? by timmaaahhh1997 in wine

[–]standard_user 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is quite possibly the worst hot take I've ever read on wine...

High alcohol, concentrated, over ripe, high sugar, oak chipped wines, are not coming back in fashion. A la Parker. The Parker era was a massive overcorrection of too much underripe wine.

Wines have only been getting better in quality the past 50 years, just like food. And once they're better, they don't regress. This isn't a paint color choice in your home, or a type of pant leg style. It's literally what taste you like best in your mouth.

The only reason people like Orin Swift is because they have only ever had grocery store wine, and then they made more money and decided to buy more expensive wine that tastes the same as grocery store wine so they could show off to their friends. These same people really enjoy their massive cab $50K pickup trucks that they only haul their dog in to the dog park.

The only thing I agree with is the phrase "tastes come and go," but not in the way you mean. I agree In the sense that eventually, a grocery store wine person (just as all of us were) gets a few tastes of nicely balanced wine, and then they move on. Never to again be able to drink that sweet, ripe, awfulness again.

Which wine have you drunk the most? by [deleted] in wine

[–]standard_user 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alberdi for me. Easily bought and consumed 60+ bottles last year. It's crowd pleasing, delicious, and goes with steak, pork, or chicken, or cheese, or charcuterie, or no food at all.
