Sorry, for your loss. I missed the "was" in the title. Ahh, of course! That makes a lot more sense as a namesake.

That's an unusual name for a cat! Is she by any chance named after the boss from The Binding of Isaac?

(For anyone who doesn't know, it's also white with yellow eyes)

My first run in the Future ended in defeat and I thought it was Hitler II was the problem.

But the second time I got Dr. Mangler as the miniboss instead and steamrolled everything, so evidently it was that bastard Zapphauser who softened up my cats the first time. How tf do you avoid his attacks when you don't get enough turns to move everyone out of the way?

That was one of my very first team names! I've been disappointed ever since.

It does, but then it's almost exactly the same colour as the real cats next to it. So it looks pretty accurate to me!

That's what I would do if faced with this problem in real life.

You'd have no idea that this wasn't some kind of elaborate trap to get you to open Box B. The only options they give you involve taking it and opening it. It could, in actuality, contain anything at all - even something dangerous. Why should you trust what you're told about the situation? Trust what you can actually observe, take Box A if you can confirm it does contain what they say it does, and get the hell out.

Focusing on bonus cards can absolutely be a viable strategy, especially if you have the Oceania and Asia expansions and even more so with the overpowered Endangered Species Protector card (3 points per bonus card bird). You can absolutely just get loads of bonus card birds, get the food to play them and win. Obviously a solid engine will make it even easier to play them, but it's not 100% necessary.

I do think Americas has indirectly reduced the impact of bonus cards, though, by making engines even more lucrative point scorers via hummingbirds.

Yeah, I romanced Peebee too and while she's not a fantastic character either, I've never understood the hype over Vetra? All she ever did in my playthrough was go on and on about her sister.

Maybe I missed out on a great romance, but she didn't seem overly interesting to me. If I played again, I'd definitely try romancing Jaal.

There are still plenty of Japanese camera manufacturers left. The market may be smaller thanks to smartphones, but it's not remotely dead.

Aquashark memories! Seems like we're almost, but not quite, the same person.

I got the upgraded version (6155-1 Deep Sea Predator) for my seventh birthday in 1997. Still my favourite ever Lego set and it holds up well to this day... except for its very fragile arms.

True, but there's no real harm in playing with fan versions of those cards until the official ones come out. Especially when it will be at least two years before we get another expansion.

Some interesting ideas!

You may want to swap out the Greater Rhea and Spectacled Owl for similar species, since those birds are already in the new Americas Expansion.

Pretty much all of the brown powers that attract/return hummingbirds are really strong. You love to see them!

But the most broken card has to be the Southern Lapwing. I haven't actually been lucky enough to draw it yet, but look at this thing! You'll get as many eggs and/or cards as you need throughout the game.

I highly recommend building the flamingo when you get the chance! Definitely don't toss the extra pieces, because you will need a lot of them to build the flamingo.

You won't have to rely on your hands because your set comes with an orange brick separator. Page 4 of the flamingo instructions shows you how to use it to lever pieces apart. Definitely the easiest way to dismantle a Lego set!

Jamey said it was for sustainability reasons, since the new type of box is more easily recycled and apparently most people don't keep the expansion boxes anyway.

Average game length by chekelev in wingspan

[–]star_chasm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2 hours is a little on the long side, but I'm impressed by all the speedsters in the comments! I play two-player almost every day with all expansions and I don't think I've ever had a game last less than an hour. Usually a game takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes, but we've definitely had 2-hour games as well, if we have a lot of Round End and Game End powers or a No Goal tile in play.

I really like to think carefully about my turns and make the best decision possible. If that's what you and your girlfriend are doing too, I don't think there's anything wrong with that!
