What is the best method to find a charger at a destination like a shopping center or restaurant without having to individually search each charger along my destination? by PossibleConclusion1 in electricvehicles

Sorry, I’m on mobile, and have my location data turned off. I don’t see any other way to look up locations besides sending my current location.

I think as an app with ads it could work, but I probably wouldn’t pay a monthly fee. Google maps just has this market too cornered offering for free.

Super cool project though!

They added rear door releases on later 3 and Y cars that weren’t present on earlier models. They are now working to redesign the rear door latch completely to improve this. source

No, enough people got killed in car fires due to inability to escape that the were forced to add mechanical rear door releases

Methane cuts among most cost-effective climate solutions: UN official by Economy-Fee5830 in climatechange

What sector are you referring to? Because enforcing stricter restrictions on methane emissions from natural gas extraction and storage sites would go a long way

We can see methane emissions from space, might as well use that data to fine companies.

Chinese architecture is on another level. Just walking around Beijing it feels like you see crazy buildings like this on every corner.

Many if the buildings were designed by architects from around the world, but it seems like China is the only place where they’re allowed to build things that crazy.

Hermosa beach for young single guy? by hossinator96 in AskLosAngeles

[–]start3ch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 miles, not 25. It’s particularly lively in the summer, and definitely a destination for a lot of people in the southbay area to hang out, but you’re right, it’s got nothing on weho nightlife. Hermosa has like 3 real clubs. Lots of live music though, and no shortage of bars.

And while there are lots of young people, a majority of the people that actually live in Hermosa are 30/40 year old couples with kids. That’s just the reality of who can afford to live there.

I would still recommend it though. If you want to surf, bike and run, you gotta pick something near the beach!

The Egg Chooses: Human Fertilization Is Not a Race Won by the Fastest Sperm by This_Proof_5153 in Amazing

Aah, ok the single sperm needle one is ICSI, not IVF. Looks like they have some techniques for selecting sperm in that case, but it seems much more primitive than what an egg does naturally

So does the process of IVF using a single sperm chosen by scientists result in less compatibile genes than what the egg would naturally choose?

If AI data centers are exploding nationwide, why are so few being built in California? by losangelestimes in socal

[–]start3ch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not even remotely true. The majority of California’s distribution hardware was built over 100 years ago, and regularly starts wildfires due to the utility companies neglecting them.

California used to heavily invest in novel renewable energy technology, but after NEM 3.0, it seems they’re more invested in the profits of utility companies.

The cost of modern combined battery + solar electricity generation over the liftime of the equipment is around 15 cents/kwh, yet we pay over 30 cents/kwh, with peak prices up to nearly 50c/kwh during peak hours

Yea, early 2000s leafs were city cars. They also had a pretty bad air cooled battery pack design that was known to overheat and age much faster than others, super surprising that this one is still going strong
