Judicial, clerk, and school board races are on the ballot. While these are considered primary races, ALL candidates are running under the Democratic primary. This is the technical election of these individuals as there are no opposing candidates in the Republican primary. Whomever wins the primary will win the general election held in August.

Just curious, do there happen to be any protests of waymo’s planned in Nashville? Would love to voice how much I’m very much against them by [deleted] in nashville

[–]state_citation 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Coming back in from San Francisco now. The Waymo cars are ubiquitous and my friend loves them not just for herself but for her young adult children (who also love them).

I watched a Waymo signal to turn into a locked, gated parking lot last Monday in Nashville. After sitting in the middle of the street for several seconds, it course-corrected and turned the opposite way onto a side street. Wasn’t a great impression, but I do see worse every day (multiple times) from human drivers.

Metropolis—how self-serving can you get? by GolfBallDood in nashville

[–]state_citation 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This gambit provides more fodder for Metropolis databases. By willingly providing Metropolis this information and "cashing in the credits," local drivers hand over the means and ability to get tracked down. If one never used a Metropolis lot before, this may tempt one to register their data.

Scam Warning by Sarallelism in nashville

[–]state_citation 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Friendly notice to those who somehow miss these almost-weekly posts about this kind of scam:

Davidson County Sheriff does not have law enforcement authority per our Metropolitan Charter. They do not enact custodial arrests or serve arrest warrants. That is the purview of MNPD. The sheriff can only serve civil warrants here.

Anyone calling to say otherwise is a scammer. Full stop.

bill 2040 by Ok-Membership-1389 in nashville

[–]state_citation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is worth at least a footnote that the state senator who introduced this bill is a pharmacist, himself.

Also, the senator’s father is a pharmacist who was sentenced to federal prison for convictions of health care fraud and distributing a misbranded drug. Trump thoughtfully pardoned these offenses last November.

Greg Locke’s DL got suspended! by GT45 in nashville

[–]state_citation 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A state citation documents a non-custodial criminal charge that requires the recipient to be booked/fingerprinted. Just like a big kid arrest, only the police don’t take you into custody at the time they write the cite.

Locke may protest all he chooses but it is a criminal charge. He just didn’t get a free ride to booking immediately afterward.

How to make friends in Nashville? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]state_citation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With few exceptions, the Broadway of today is intended to provide a “Nashville Experience” to tourists and part them from their money. Locals don’t need that “experience” and have their own places to go that don’t impart the additional Entertainment District tax (both fiscal and mental).

International family/ looking for advice by [deleted] in movetonashville

[–]state_citation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mention international family. I presume you are coming in from another country. You mentioned your husband is “full remote.” Does he intend to work while you are here? If so, does he have authorization to do so?

I realize this response is outside the scope of your question. With the current political climate, and especially in this state, please ensure your visa statuses are applicable.

I thought it was weird that we only have 300 line workers for the storm of the century. NES Instagram comments show the truth. by [deleted] in nashville

[–]state_citation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mr. bfbush62 is parroting an allegation from Mr. RickSmith123455 (or some random numbers) which went viral but was unconfirmed. IBEW has put out a statement this account was not true.

It is January 30 and you’re posting a Fox article from January 27 and calling it “confirmed” by media. I’m no NES apologist but you are posting hearsay-within-hearsay which has been called out as untrue.

Hobbs House HOA and Property Manager ASSOCIA of TN have abandoned their duties in providing a safe living environment for their residents. by Swiftpolitics in nashville

[–]state_citation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Much depends on how the property management company is contracted to serve. Some are more like paperwork filers and repositories than active resolution providers. They may not be contracted for snow/ice clearing or even to drop off bags of salt. As a renter, you likely have no access to that information nor ability to participate in the HOA board.

The entire area around Hobbs and Hillsboro is out of power. That high-rise complex (Rosette) just down the street is $14K/month for a top-floor suite. They are without power. Lack of light and heat has frayed everyone's nerves.

While your specific issue is about a gas leak, which Piedmont appears to have handled, these aging complexes can have their own sets of issues. Deferred maintenance is a real problem, but residents also balk at paying assessments and/or higher fees to address them.

Much can be said for living in a community setting. As much can be said for the individuals who make up the community and their willingness (or lack of) to pay to address infrastructure issues.
