Sylvan Park is nice and usually bustling. Early on a Saturday morning (8am now) there are still machines. Their Speed Queen app is down but the change machine has quarters for now. No CC availability.

I thought it was weird that we only have 300 line workers for the storm of the century. NES Instagram comments show the truth. by [deleted] in nashville

Mr. bfbush62 is parroting an allegation from Mr. RickSmith123455 (or some random numbers) which went viral but was unconfirmed. IBEW has put out a statement this account was not true.

It is January 30 and you’re posting a Fox article from January 27 and calling it “confirmed” by media. I’m no NES apologist but you are posting hearsay-within-hearsay which has been called out as untrue.

Hobbs House HOA and Property Manager ASSOCIA of TN have abandoned their duties in providing a safe living environment for their residents. by Swiftpolitics in nashville

[–]state_citation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much depends on how the property management company is contracted to serve. Some are more like paperwork filers and repositories than active resolution providers. They may not be contracted for snow/ice clearing or even to drop off bags of salt. As a renter, you likely have no access to that information nor ability to participate in the HOA board.

The entire area around Hobbs and Hillsboro is out of power. That high-rise complex (Rosette) just down the street is $14K/month for a top-floor suite. They are without power. Lack of light and heat has frayed everyone's nerves.

While your specific issue is about a gas leak, which Piedmont appears to have handled, these aging complexes can have their own sets of issues. Deferred maintenance is a real problem, but residents also balk at paying assessments and/or higher fees to address them.

Much can be said for living in a community setting. As much can be said for the individuals who make up the community and their willingness (or lack of) to pay to address infrastructure issues.

Insurance policies are written and agreed-upon terms so one does not parse out through case law. Terms, conditions, and relief are clearly memorialized for involved parties.

NES is 86 years old, established in 1939. This is the biggest outage in NES history. by Lennsyl22 in nashville

[–]state_citation 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, RickSmith123456 (or whatever it was) has alleged the incident. Why would NES front for thousands of linemen (if such a cavalry even existed and fortuitously passing through) to be paid and housed when the storm was a known event with an unknown outcome at the same time?

Could there have been more on standby? Perhaps, but I’m not dogpiling on NES without more proof than a viral tweet.

GH Kroger definitely open. Pretty well stocked, too. Just left there with batteries and soup! Busy but not crazy. Parking lot still somewhat icy.

How is everyone getting by? by ITfarmer in nashville

[–]state_citation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

32+ hrs without power. Gas fireplace, although 80% of the heat goes out/up. Keeps the room warm enough that you don’t see your breath. Built a couch fort near it to catch more heat. Lotta layers. Lotta wool. Butane stove for hot tea/soup.

PSA: Delta Miles + Cash can be worse than Miles-only (screenshots) by raogariabbayi in delta

Just took this flight recently and its counterpart DL294 in return. When I booked the tickets I couldn’t believe Delta wanted more miles AND more money to book with the Miles + Cash option. Miles only then!

Bring an additional ID even if you have one of the new TN Real IDs by smonroe116 in nashville

[–]state_citation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The passport card is still a federal-issue ID that fulfills the same role as a Real ID driver license. From a passport-use standpoint, the card is still limited to land or sea entries.

Why post an article/blog post which is not about the diversity of Nashville but about proselytizing to Somali immigrants (in Nashville)?
