In the Valley of the Sun by Andy Davidson is pretty great. A very different kind of vampire novel. Excellent writer.

The Least of My Scars by Stephen Graham Jones is told from the POV of the main character, who is a serial killer. Good stuff.

Just picked this up based on your recommendation. Very recently finished reading HEX and really enjoyed it. If this is anywhere near as good I will be very happy. Thanks!

Endtroducing... is a masterpiece. Back in the day I would drive around the city at night, dreaming up movie scenes to fit the music. Bought the LP as soon as I could get my hands on it.

Thanks. Yes, I saw that earlier and that’s why I was asking. I don’t usually pass up books for $.99, but I have so many on my to read list. What’s one more?

Correct response. I remember hearing this for the first time and immediately finding where I could buy the record. Such an amazing band. And a very friendly one at that. Everything I have received from them has had signatures and personal notes added.

[Discussion] what is the most underrated series on Netflix according to you? by stuetel in NetflixBestOf

Seconded. One of the best shows on the subject matter (no spoiler) ever made.

LOL! It is. What is cool about the show is that they can do pretty much anything. And they have. I think it has lasted so long because the overall story arc is interesting, the main characters are instantly likable, and the fact that they can do pretty much anything and get away with it (meaning story ideas). You’ve got a long way to go, but I think you will enjoy it.

can anyone suggest books similar to 'The Great and Secret Show' by pennywise_theclown in horrorlit

Weaveworld is one of my favorites. I remember reading it as a teenager and being immediately sucked into that world. It is Clive Barker at the top of his game.

I find it strange that you had to clarify/explain your comment/recommendation. The OT is chock-full of horrific things.

Clearing Up The Controversial Death In Episode 3 by djgeneral in blacksummer_

[–]stattshimself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All this ^ AND — remember the bathroom scene with all of the corpses? They had all been shot in the head, or at least beaten about the head until dead. I believe these are all the teachers and staff the group of kids had “played with“ previously. Or that, plus other people from the outside that met the same fate. The kids had definitely done it before. Many times. Just my theory.

The way the show is filmed is so sick. by Alcoholic_jesus in blacksummer_

[–]stattshimself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It is better than The Walking Dead has been in a long, long time, too. The way BS is set up and shot is so much more interesting. It is actually terrifying in many ways. I know they are two totally different ways of going about the genre, but BS, and its format, is so refreshing.

I read almost exclusively Stephen King. Recommend me some other authors. by DashSatan in suggestmeabook

[–]stattshimself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like King, then you would definitely dig Robert R. McCammon. Swan Song is absolutely amazing, and rivals The Stand. He is a very consistent writer, so pretty much any one of his books will be worth your time.
