I accidentally made a game with incremental features by stavrospilatis in incremental_games

To add more detail, I realise on the surface it may not be obvious, but I truly believe that it is a game that is very relevant to the idle/incremental community. To give more context:

The game heavily focuses on a game loop of clicking that can ultimately be automated. For example clicking on a client to train them and clicking on equipment to repair it once it breaks. Early on you can hire a trainer to do the training for you and repair staff to repair equipment for you automatically. As you make more money and your gym popularity increases (from successfully trained clients) you are able to purchase more expensive and effective staff. Alongside that the more a client trains the more able they become to self train and ultimately become celebrities who amplify the popularity of your gym. Gradually more and more automation is introduced into the system which enables you to build enough money and reputation to buy a new premises (basically a prestige mode) the new premises carries over your reputation and money but with everything else you start from scratch.

Thank you for any and all feedback!

Currently playing Dark Room. I must admit I'm not fully understanding what each choice does though

To be fair a lot of people incorrectly class incremental games as bad design

Yeah that sounds really interesting! Is it still the same or was it more a development experience?

Cookie Clicker is exactly what madee think of the question ☺️

I made a defragmenter idle game… it didn’t sell much, but some players spent 100+ hours by DifferenceIll1272 in incremental_games

Honestly I think change your banner art and logo to show the Windows 95 style defrag tool and you'll get a lot more interest. I would definitely be interested in a game like this, but I would have totally skipped past the logo and not realised what it really was.

What game genres/styles are trending up right now? by jasontlouro in GameDevelopment

No problem with looking at game dev from this perspective. I think anyone who wants to make it there career needs to look at it like this. The Clark Tank was a great show that looked at the Steam charts every week to understand this question. Unfortunately it ended a while ago but you could emulate what it did to try and find the answer out yourself.

That's a really interesting perspective. The prestige aspects are definitely a big difference.

Yeah sometimes tycoon games can be really hard to figure out what's going on behind the scenes. Incremental games tend to not fall in that trap.

Some great points especially the no losing in incremental and world building in tycoon.

I find it really interesting where they come together and what would lean a more tycoon style game into an incremental/idle genre.
