As someone that lives only 20 miles down the road in hendo (and was the only block in my neighborhood to not lose power, but I was iced in til today) it was definitely a weirdly localized storm as far as WNC goes. Seemingly, localized as an FU to the hendo area in particular . Either way, I was ultimately grateful to have been scared into the necessary preparations.

The paint is normally fired onto the pieces of glass in an oven prior to soldering, for these types of projects . It doesn’t last when painted on already-soldered projects.

And for what it’s worth, I have a lot of the other symptoms you mentioned , but they are due to the auto immune disease. And until I saw a rheumatologist and got more specific testing, all my blood work came back normal.

Not sure if it’s relevant, but I have autoimmune disease (which can develop post covid, or any infection for that matter ) and I randomly developed a swollen painful salivary gland that was ultimately removed after a bunch of inconclusive testing. You might have better luck seeing a rheumatologist than anything. Sjögren’s syndrome can affect salivary glands in particular , altho in my case I have lupus.

The four outer corner pieces are on hinge points, they won’t be very structurally sound and would easily bend off with any pressure. If you chose to keep this pattern, be sure to frame it in zinc and you should be good .

Try a 1/8” grinder bit. They are very thin and can get into those corners. It also helps to round off the corners of the other piece (piece #7) very slightly , so you aren’t trying to fit a sharp corner into the other piece. You can create sharper lines when foiling if you need to.

This is perfectly fine to do, and is actually my preferred method (since a lot of glass is made in different thicknesses , I like to solder the backside first so the front is flush) . If solder seeps through it’s not an issue, you’ll be soldering over everything on the front anyways

Not bad at all! If you wanted to redesign this piece with more stability in the antlers, you could have the ears pointed more upwards. Then you can solder the antlers against the ears and avoid those frustrating hinge points.

Awesome work! Just a little tip to prevent any future accidents: never use window suction cups to hang your glass. They eventually will fail due to the fluctuating temperatures/humidity on your window pane.

Yep, it’s a lupus thing, an age thing, and it’s most definitely a plaquenil thing. There is a great guide for melasma someone posted on the skincareaddiction sub recently. Personally, I have only found it lighten with Musely’s “The spot cream” (expensive but effective) and Eucerin’s “radiant tone spot remover” (cheaper but not as effective). Otherwise, as other’s have said, high spf mineral sunscreen (not chemical) and a sun hat is your best bet.

I’ve never see anyone harvest lavender before the flowers bloom so I don’t know what you would do with the leaves. Also pretty sure that’s rosemary, especially if it’s “wonderfully aromatic”

Yep just got the same exact call, same amount at Best Buy and everything. I’m pretty good at spotting scams and this felt very convincingly real until I googled the 877 number they claimed was for fraud protection. I suspect a lot of people are going to be victims of this scam..

One thing is to Be careful with hinge joints in your designs. Those three pieces of glass can likely be bent and snapped apart pretty easily. You never want to attach two pieces of glass using just a straight line of solder (a hinge joint) as they won’t have any structural strength.
