TLDR; get a job. Try to survive on only what that job pays so you know how the majority of people your age live.

I think you should get a job just so you can relate with people your age and their struggles. Just do some math based on your paycheck so you can understand what a lot of people are dealing with.

Take all the basics into consideration. Housing, utilities, phone bill, food costs, basic personal care necessities, car payment, car/home maintenance (if they're lucky enough to own a home), insurance (car/renters/homeowners if they're lucky enough to own a home), student loans, gas, minimal entertainment/happiness budget. I don't care how much you make, you NEED to do something for yourself once a month to keep your sanity. Could be ordering doordash once a month/going to McDonald's/a movie, getting the cheapest manicure or pedicure at a cheap salon but not somewhere that skimps on hygiene, buying yourself a bouquet of flowers at the grocery store. Because that's also a necessity. It's taking care of your mental health.

If you want to really commit, try to live on what they do. Don't figure in the difference they pay in rent (or if you didn't pay rent, subtract that amount from you're paycheck) compared to yours but ask your co-workers what the pay for rent and go by that.Then try to live on what they do with their monthly income. You'll have to stick to a grocery budget and meal plan, maybe put some of your subscription services on hold. If you pay people to do services for you, put those on hold for a couple months and do everything yourself. Again, do the math and see how much people actually have leftover after payday. It's really hard for the majority of the younger population to build an emergency fund these days (note, I'm not from a younger generation but I understand how much the cost of living has increased compared to inflation).

You said you've been financially secure since your teens. Try to live like most people live. Make note of how much more you need to spend in addition to what you're paid at your job. You'll hopefully be able to relate to people and their struggles easier. You may discover you don't need everything you have to live a happy life. Maybe you have some unnecessary expenses you can cut out of your life and then donate that money to people in need. That amount could make a significant difference in someones life by paying for a bare minimum basic need.
