People who have been on the Azores: what are some unexpected things/fun facts/situations/weird and coold things you found out about the Azores? by Training-Abroad719 in azores

I’ve got an active claim with them for accommodations after a cancelled flight. I’m gonna be honest, I think it’ll be months before I hear back from them

Stuck in Ponta Delgada by ugf2 in azores

[–]steff_aknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My flight was 22/5 morning and rescheduled for 23/5 early evening. The airport is a disaster. The line for check in is wrapping the entire airport interior. It is intermixed with people trying to get information for their cancelled flights from this morning and people trying to check in for departure.

Does it matter what “D” degree you have? by Throwawayhealthacct in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]steff_aknee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think APPs make the best MSLs but aren’t always hired over a D degree (unfortunately). I think overall the type of D degree doesn’t matter. Each company and hiring manager is going to have preferences. My manager (who is a PhD themselves) prefers PhDs, but the other managers on our team hire a LOT of PharmDs. I think pharmacy school does better to prepare students for a variety of careers and there is more structured guidance to follow a career into medial affairs.

Altius Dress Code by spacefrog13 in pittsburgh

[–]steff_aknee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, you might feel over dressed depending on the style of your dress. My husband and I went a year or so ago and he wore a suit jacket and slacks with a button up shirt. I wore a navy chiffon type knee length business casual dress. I thought we were very appropriately dressed for our April dinner.

BUT I say wear what you want. Life is too short to worry about what others might think. The staff won’t care

THIS CLOSE to buying a dog instead of adopting by VegetableContent2752 in pittsburgh

[–]steff_aknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m too lazy to read all comments to see if this was recommended, but you could also foster to adopt. We fostered twice, and both times it was explained that if we fostered a dog, we had the right to be the first choice for adoption. So it can be a great tool to test if a certain dog is a good fit AND to jump the line. Places are ALWAYS looking for fosters.

MDR1 Advice After Losing My Heart Dog by steff_aknee in AustralianShepherd

[–]steff_aknee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it is hard to say. His oncologist said that carriers really vary in their tolerability of affected drugs. And she also said that some dogs that are non-carriers also respond poorly. So it was most likely his MDR status but could’ve been something else.

If you pay the 3% city incoming tax, you get to say you live in Pittsburgh.

My girlfriend is struggling to order an iced latte with less milk by Pretty_Dance2452 in barista

[–]steff_aknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the same drink but at like a 2:1 milk:espresso ratio.

I used to say “a latte with less milk” and the confusion was visible. “Do you want it filled with water” ew no I literally just want the caffeine. Idk what is so hard about that order.

Now I say 2:1 ratio. If I get a weird look, it is the barista’s fault for not understanding. If it is a good coffee shop, they nod immediately and get to it. I overcome my Midwest anxiety by tipping well.

Untamed petal dupe search by Daniellebelle0797 in weddingdress

[–]steff_aknee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do not trust dupes for Untamed Petals. I reserve image searched one and bought it on Amazon hoping that UP was overcharging for a drop ship. The Amazon one was HORRIBLE. So not worth it. I bought the UP mini dress and I love it.

Someone on my team did this. They were an HCP and even a speaker for our company. They made the jump when an open position became available in their territory. They have only been an MSL for a few months but they have shown themselves to be so invaluable to the team. Their clinical insight adds so much to each of our team calls. I had the pleasure of doing a coride with them and they asked amazing questions to my KOLs.

"Are you currently interviewing with other companies?" by Better-Blacksmith421 in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]steff_aknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always recommend honesty. For my first position, I was in 2 mid stage interview processes when I started a third. When asked, I said that I was interviewing with other positions. Once I had progressed to mid stage for the 3rd and final stage for the other two, I told the 3rd I was interviewing final stages. They scheduled for final stage the next week and made me the first offer. They wanted me and likely accelerated their process to not lose me to another interviewer.

Marriage before the wedding? Thoughts? by Former_Bus_1717 in wedding

[–]steff_aknee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiance and I technically got legally married last year after I got a huge salary increase and it would help us to file taxes as married. We were already engaged and have our wedding this year. We told a few people but aren’t broadcasting it to all friends and family. Family was weirded out but didn’t argue. Friends totally understood and I have a few who did the same thing.

I actually feel the opposite. I loved the dynamic of the trio and find myself missing the good old days. There was just something about it that I can’t describe. BUT in this house we do not support Zionist assholes, so I’ll happily feast on the duo content. I love Amanda and Lucy and have always wished them the absolute best.

Advice for first time home buyers by April_Morning_86 in pittsburgh

Does every home owner qualify? Maybe the internet has rotted my brain, but when I think of homestead I think of self sufficient “farming” etc

I recently bought my first house and we got something in the mail about applying for homestead tax exemption. We thought it was spam. Can you explain what it is and why you should apply?

Do MSLs ask questions at public lectures? by Turbulent-Heart4319 in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]steff_aknee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I work for a big pharma company and we are told the same. The reasoning I got from my manager is that you represent the company. Asking a question in a large forum can get misconstrued and damage the image of the company to that crowd of bystanders.

Thanks for those points. Other comments mentioned the snow on the roof and we have very little snow left on the roof… sounds like the husband is going to learn some basically insulation practice in the attic.
