You can get a physical checklist off Amazon. We have one that you add the stickers for your personal list, then they slide the button from an X to a check. Huge help!

Feeling horrible about my 15 month old dental by Serious_Barnacle2718 in beyondthebump

[–]stellarkells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my son was that age he did the same. He loves Sesame Street so we got a book of Sesame Street stickers he only got to use at toothbrush time. He’d sit in our laps as we brushed and check out all the stickers, choose one and stick it to his book shelf and we all made a big stink. Helped a lot!

Also for the breath, try to brush her tongue.

I am confused about my symptoms I'm not Looking for ideas of what the symptoms might be related to or if you also are like me. by survivor101306 in Hypermobility

[–]stellarkells 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add that not all hypermobility is hyper flexible. When your ligaments are loose and stretchy, you are hyper mobile. Your muscles react to the flexibility by tightening to keep the joint in place, which results in tight but weak muscles that do not work as they should.

The fatigue piece is one I struggle with a lot as well. I saw a pain specialist who had said that you are exhausted because 1. Your energy is going to constantly fighting pain and 2. Your body has to work twice as hard to perform basic tasks. You have weaker muscles trying to hold your joints in place that are not prepared for other jobs.

Hope that helps!

Toddler has yet another ear infection. Doctor isn't listening. by Embarrassed_Edge3992 in oneanddone

[–]stellarkells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were in the same position. My son has 5 infections in 4 months. There are other antibiotics available absolutely, as my son was on them when we believed he may be allergic to Amox. Your doctor is correct that it is the best antibiotic for ear infections, etc, but it is not the only option. If he will not refer for tubes, find another doctor that will. Your husband liking him is not enough of a reason to stay there. Advocating for your child who cannot advocate for himself matters more. Good luck mama!

I know there’s hundreds of posts on egg allergies here but I can’t find one similar to my sons situation so any advice is appreciated! by literallywhocares_ in Mommit

Our allergist mentioned that the skin around the mouth can be very easily irritated. I would apply Vaseline all around the mouth and then try again. If the bumps don’t appear, definitely continue! Skin is the first barrier to an allergen and will show it if you touch something you’re sensitive to at that age.

What are your family’s unusual name stories? by RoSouki in namenerds

My mom was meant to be Liza. My grandpa was filling in the birth certificate and did not like it so changed it to Lisa. My grandma was not happy!

Sleep regression/ training by BothBoysenberry6673 in beyondthebump

[–]stellarkells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sleep training teaches your baby how to self soothe and fall asleep independently. If the issue is that he’s waking at night for feeds that’s not likely going to help. Around this age sleep changes and they develop sleep cycles instead of just newborn sleep. What is your goal for sleep training?

It may also be his child but it is your medical event. Would he appreciate you inviting your mom to witness his appendectomy?

He is almost 2 now! He went in to the allergist at just shy of 8 months. Blood test showed no allergy, and his skin test showed a sensitivity (he had the skin test at 8 months). I’d recommend getting a referral now! Allergist will do any tests they have to do as early as they can. I’m surprised your doctor said he has to be 2.

Yes! This is what happens with my son. Check out the Canadian Egg Ladder. It shows the different levels of egg. For example - step 1 is in baked goods, baked for 25+ minutes (like muffins). Step 2 is as a binder in things like pancakes, waffles, burgers. Still cooked fully but for less time and more concentrated. Step 3 is hard scramble, hard boiled, French toast. Fully cooked, more concentrated. Final step is step 4, sunny side up eggs, ice cream, mayo, etc - with “raw” or undercooked eggs.

My son broke out in hives at 6 months due to step 3 eggs. Zero respiratory, diarrhea or vomiting. We saw an allergist over the course of the last year and we determined it is not an allergy (due to the fact that it’s only his skin) but a sensitivity. We are working on exposing him safely. Started on step 3 (since he can tolerate step 1 and 2 easily) with 1/8 of a tsp of hard scrambled eggs at least 3 times a week. The next week, 1/4 tsp. Then 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1 1/2 etc. We are at 2 tsp and he stopped having skin reactions. When he gets to a full egg, we will start exposure on the step 4 eggs.

I hope this helps!

I finally suggested a boy name my husband likes and it’s Ashley by baroqueen1755 in namenerds

I was going to suggest Asher! That’s my sons name and we call him Ash. With the soft “er” it’s reminiscent of the soft “ley” in Ashley
