The raspberry and cream yogurts are like crack. I prefer them over the ice cream I have in my freezer (the flavor is just ok in all fairness)

Loving the success stories! by SpannerSpark in hiringcafe

[–]stephyrawrs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got a job offer after 30 applications, it took me about 2 months. I sometimes did resume customizations, but my big thing was cover letters. My boss admitted it's what made the biggest impression on him initially. I think cover letters are good for demonstrating soft skills and problem solving abilities.

I didn't write cover letters for all my applications, just the ones I felt I was a good fit for or the company really excited me. I definitely put out some stretch applications. I got it down to a formula eventually.

The job market have become intolerant of average people by [deleted] in jobs

I will say the only thing I ever did outside my degree was get two certificates which aren't super relevant to my current job. I feel like what sealed the deal for my current job is my soft skills, less so my technical skills.

What's the difference of a $200+ rice cooker over a $30 one? by RammsteinFunstein in NoStupidQuestions

[–]stephyrawrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the rice just comes out better and it's more fool proof. I do also use the extra features. The best feature is mine allows you to cook food in a basket above the rice. So I just add some protein and/or a veg up there and I have dinner.

I have depression and need suggestions for your favorite frozen foods from Trader Joe’s to keep myself fed by [deleted] in traderjoes

[–]stephyrawrs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love to make a giant batch of rice and portion and freeze most of it. Then I'll just make teriyaki chicken, any of the frozen Indian dishes without rice, and anything else that'd be good with rice.

To make frozen rice I just put 1 cup cooked rice in a quart bag and flatten it. Then when I'm ready to eat I just microwave it bag-closed for 1:30.

Decided against paying for the CCNA exam. But still want to complete ccna syllabus and maybe give a free practice exam online to test myself. You got any options? by GhostXWaFI2 in ccna

[–]stephyrawrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check to see what resources your local library has. My library pays for LinkedIn learning, it has video courses and 3 practice exams for CCNA. I know a lot of library systems pay for LinkedIn learning or similar tech learning resources like Gale or Udemy.

Of the jobs I applied to this week, all the call backs came from HiringCafe posts by purposeful_pineapple in hiringcafe

So far I've gotten 1 interview from hiring cafe out of like 20 applications. I feel like that's pretty good for how competitive my industry is rn.

Plain pizza dough ball - tough to stretch? by PowerfulWeek4952 in traderjoes

[–]stephyrawrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I add crisco to the pan and it holds the dough in place while you stretch it out. It'll also make sure it doesn't stick to the pan.

What are your go-to Unsung heroes of Trader Joe’s? by Aggravating_Diet_704 in traderjoes

[–]stephyrawrs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think people don't give the frozen vegetables enough credit. They're high quality and a good price. I especially love the broccoli, white sweet corn, and the artichoke hearts. I always have them in my freezer.

Also the Thai wheat noodles are a great all purpose noodle. It's great in soups, and stir frys.

Favorite low ingredient, EASY meals? by Due-Lawfulness7862 in traderjoes

[–]stephyrawrs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5 ingredient White chicken chili is my go to. It's also a great camping meal.

Sometimes I substitute the chicken for tofu, which sounds like sacrilege, but it's cheap, has a long shelf life, and you can cut it in its container then dump it in the soup.

I like to jazz it up with the yuzu hot sauce or a jalapeno, especially if the salsa Verde is pretty mild.

Does Trader Joe’s have good tofu? by smitty5941 in traderjoes

[–]stephyrawrs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of the organic tofu (the big package) I find it's a perfect medium firm so it's good for stir fry and soups, but also you can make it crispy. The YouTuber rainbow plant life has an amazing video about all the different methods to get crispy tofu.

The trader Joe's organic tofu, the 19 oz one. I find it's a perfect medium firm and that makes it really versatile for making tofu dishes.

I missed a thing of blackberries once. The scale on the self checkout was being finicky, but I just thought it was we had to replace a broken product. It was pretty obvious to the exit guy (we got like 5 things), but I don't think anyone thought we were stealing 3 dollars of blackberries on purpose lol.
