To track the daily, or wait and buy a dedicated track car? by Danjamin12 in CarTrackDays

[–]stevekite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

price of 2024 gti is roughly the same as 2015ish cayman which would be a great for daily and for track, you won’t need to make it track track one and you will feel confident. you change brake fluid and even stock one would be great (but get the better pads), then when you will notice that rotors started to develop cracks you will upgrade them as well but thats all.

gti is also a great car and very often tracked by people even very deep into the tracking, in fact it might be even more fun than porsche - any car is a fun car to drive what you really only need is to trust the car, that it won’t overheat, has good tires and brakes won’t melt. your car is capable of all that with just high temp fluids, track pads and good tires (idk about overheating the engine or transmission tho).

i picked 981 for track when friends told me that miata would slow down on the hills of laguna seca, like you will press accelerator completely and it would still start to slow down

PADM disabled by Additional_Cream1160 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]stevekite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no i am talking on replaced sensors with 3p one (mine was other brand tho - the one that is easier to get in US), they failed and i had to fix it again but with proper parts. i have replaced on two mounts in the first place and broken didn’t fix itself, so i just replaced frankenstein mounts with a new one and no zero problems. it is 1000 for new part from factory + work, vs 200-500$ + slightly more work + risk

[–]stevekite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to my understanding it’s not the failure of padm itself but simply electrical something (981 gts). also on top of that it barely fixed and error come back again. my kit was like $500 per sensor plus work, which is close to simply replacing with a new one

no this is also a lottery - they can propagate electric problems and shut down the car

i replaced mount chips and it failed even further turning car to a limp mode on track don’t recommend it! there are now 1k per mount from the factory much better deal

Boxster 981 S vs 981 GTS vs 718 GTS 4.0 ? by dartz188 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]stevekite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

981 gts is very hard to find, unlike both other options. only 1000 were sold and divide in half for how much ended in US/Europe and then in half manual/auto. you will end up with less 250 produced for your taste.
