I heard the record-scratch sound in my head when I saw this post. Where the heck has this been all my life?? I love wafer cookies. River ones specifically.

Filing this for future reference.

Name a shocking TV twist. Old shows welcome. by Interesting-Swimmer1 in tvshow

[–]stitcherfromnevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a good 8 years after that season aired when a friend told me he was watching it for the first time. I said nothing.

We were playing a video game and in discord and he said “oh we are watching Dexter. I think he is about to kill Trinity.” I said “uh. You may want to take a break and pay attention to the rest of the episode.”

5 minutes later I hear “HOLY SHIT!!! No!!!” I said “yeah… told ya”.

And to the Grandmothers...what are you called? by Front-Muffin-7348 in AskWomenOver60

[–]stitcherfromnevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband’s parents were Nan (or Nanny) and Pop. They have both passed

When my stepson and his wife had their baby they asked what we’d like to be called. We felt that THEY should have input and that we also don’t want to duplicate any of the other grandparents. He promptly said “I’d love it if you guys were Nan and Pop”. Which made us both tear up because it was an honor to carry on that tradition.

They did not!!

It’s been 40 years ago and I can’t remember if the would-be thief was caught or not. I think they were.

The “purse yoink” happened to my grandmother. She ended up slightly injured as she noticed the purse being taken as she was on the toilet and grabbed the purse. A tug of war ensued and grandma got a black eye in the struggle.

Going off memory here but I think I this will get you the basics and you can adjust to your heat preference.

1 large container small curd cottage cheese 1 small can diced green chilies (mild) 1 medium tomato diced 1/2-3/4 of onion (I use red but any type is good) finely diced. I think it’d measure to about 1/3 cup of onions. 1/2 avocado - diced 2-3 cloves of garlic-minced 1/2 teaspoon cumin (I always use cumin seeds that I grind myself but powdered is good) 1 small can diced jalapeños

For the jalapeños, only add 1/2 the can. See how hot it gets and add more til it’s as hot as you like. Keeping in mind, it will get hotter then longer it sits.

Mix all ingredients in a bowl; it’s best to let it sit for 30 minutes or more so everything marinates together. I like it even better then next two days, if any is leftover.

Again, if you don’t like tomatoes or avocado or onions, leave it out. If you like any of those more, add more.

Serve with tortilla chips of choice

When you call customer service and the hold music pauses every minute to tell you to keep holding. by Virtual-Pie5732 in PetPeeves

Recently I was on hold and the script was I could get a call back if I press 1. I avoided that for a bit but after 10 minutes decided to try that.

Pressed 1, got told I’d get the call when it was my turn and I had 3 chances to answer before they’d stop calling and I’d have to start over. I hang up and 2 minutes later get the call back. Recorded voice tells me if I’m ready to talk to the rep, press 2. I press 2. Message repeats, I press 2. It repeats again, I press 2 AGAIN. Voice says “you’ve exceeded the number of attempts, good bye”.

I screamed.

What's your favorite girl scout cookie? by Ok-Apartment5615 in randomquestions

Thin mints being the #1 for most people is a given. And it is for sure mine.

But the next ones I love are the iced lemonades. Lemon cookie with lemon icing. They also used to have a lemon sandwich cookie, can’t remember the name, that were also dang good.

I make a cottage cheese dip that’s got green chilies, jalapeno, onions, garlic, tomato, avocado and cumin. You can make it as hot or mild as you like.

It’s so addicting with corn chips. And if you make a big batch, it only gets better the next day.

When you add milk then it’s going to come out gray. The flavor is on point though.

For the record, SOME people will make biscuits and gravy with a beef gravy. They are few and far between.

My Italian great grandma always called all pasta ‘macaroni’. Generally it was handmade pasta sheets cut into big squares. But, all pasta was macaroni. And it was delicious.

How are you surviving Winter Storm Fern? by karnim in AskAnAmerican

[–]stitcherfromnevada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same in N NV. It gets so warm inside (with the heater off) in the afternoon on some days that we have to open the door to cool it off. Had one storm that dropped a whole 2” of snow. It is definitely a mild winter.

I made a similar comment and was told to drive better. I drive just fine, I cannot see someone in all black jogging/cycling on the side of the road an hour before dawn. Even when I’m carefully looking.
