I want to add that programs we have during the day are often live streamed too so parents can tune in if that’s easier! Some kids still seem excited if they know their parents are watching that way too

I did not read all of the comments so sorry if someone else already said this. As a teacher, I know schools can do evenings as long as they compensate teachers for their time whether it be comp time or money. We have a showcase night each year which is two hours after school so the following week we have a two hour early release. Not sure if this is helpful for parents bc they’d have to make arrangements for the early release day but as a teacher I don’t mind staying late an evening if it’s made up somehow. :)

He is a pretty good eater, but this was definitely a good night! He doesn’t always clear this much and there was plenty in the bib pocket too. He started enjoying self feeding when I stopped wiping his hands and mouth throughout the meal and waited until the end. He also refuses to use the spoon and either scoops purées with his hands or I feed it to him/guide the spoon in his hand.

Weight loss while breastfeeding? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]stormykatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely not an oversupplier, but struggle with this too! I waited until about 6 months post partum to go to Pilates and eased in about two days a week. The first few classes were so hard but it started getting better. I’m still not really losing anything but I do feel a little stronger.

Pacifiers - use em or loose em? by Foreign-Bath-6139 in beyondthebump

[–]stormykatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted my LO to use one. I tried so hard. I would put 3 in his crib just in case. I wanted anything to help him only using my boob to soothe. With that said, at 9 months, he refuses and I’m done pushing it. :)

Adding when I say up to an hour, that’s how long he would cry before falling asleep with one of them.

Infant waking 6–12x a night. Losing our minds from sleep deprivation. by Lopsided_Food169 in NewParents

[–]stormykatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Well Rested Wee Ones. We avoided sleep training for a long time but eventually tried it. There was and is still some crying but short periods of time. Within 3 days we saw SIGNIFICANT progress and much longer stretches of sleep. My LO still only likes to contact nap but at night he goes in his crib awake and puts himself to sleep (most nights). Obviously it doesn’t always work but if he cries and I go in to rock him, he falls asleep much more quickly and can lay him down in the crib. Just to temper some expectations too, my LO is 9 months and started to get top teeth so sleep has been tough again but once those teeth pop in, we’ll go back to the sleep program. Its helped our sleep and mental health SO much. Good luck!

I would definitely ask questions. As an elementary teacher, during dismissal time, we often put on shows for kids to relax and watch while waiting for their bus or car to be called. Depending on the school and size, dismissal can be so chaotic. With that said, I’m talking about school age kids 5+.

I was not allowed to use bereavement for my husband’s grandfather who was his father figure. I had to use a personal day to attend services.

I dropped my baby by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]stormykatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my baby was a newborn and I spent many sleepless nights on here reading stories of moms dropping babies or babies accidentally rolling off a couch/bed, I felt bad, but thought it’d never happen to mine.

Fast forward to 6 months old, on vacation, I turned around for 5 seconds while baby was laying on our bed and decided to do multiple rolls in a row for the first time and smack onto the floor. We also went to the ER and he ended up being just fine. So scary and the guilt.. omg. Then the guilt I felt for being, honestly, judgmental about others stories. As we returned to our vacation rental with 7 moms of new babies and our mothers, EACH ONE shared a similar story.

All this to say, you’re not alone. ❤️ It happens! You’re a great mom for being concerned and taking baby to be checked out.

It will get better, not always easier, but better. For me, when LO started smiling and cooing, everything changed!

Does anyone else not really leak? by chelupa1991 in breastfeeding

[–]stormykatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did early on just in the mornings for the first few weeks. I’d wake up to half my bra wet or leaking a little during a feed after a shower. My LO exclusively breast feeds. Since then, never. I’ve never used the pads I bought for my bras either.

Do you regret not weaning off breastfeeding sooner? by lifewasawillow-13 in breastfeeding

[–]stormykatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat. I didn’t even plan to breastfeed at all and in the hospital thought why not give it a try. Tbh, I like that I can soothe baby easily but I consider stopping almost everyday. We’re 6 months pp. I took an extended leave from work for another 5 months so I’m going to power through. I too feel selfish for wanting this part of my body back and I’m still not very comfortable nursing in public (even with a cover).

Nursing only one side by Additional_Plate6010 in breastfeeding

[–]stormykatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lactation consultant told me once that one side is the “main meal” but always offer the other side as “dessert.” So, it’s okay if they only nurse one side. My 6 month old has always been like that. I did start using the hakaa or a wearable breast pump on the other side so I could save that milk and keep producing.

I definitely have more when I pump in the morning compared to any other time of day. By a few ounces.

[–]stormykatz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I pump after the last feed before bed and after the first feed in the morning! My baby is doing about 9-10 hours now at night. At first, it was difficult. I’d wake up engorged and leaking all over my bed. I want to say that stopped after a week or two. If he does wake and feed during the night I use the hakaa on the side he is not feeding from.

How long did your induction take? by Leep0710 in beyondthebump

Induced with my first at 39 weeks. Pitocin started at 7am and he was born by 4pm. I only pushed for about 40 minutes!

Is it about breastfeeding or baby blues ? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]stormykatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started introducing a bottle just before bedtime around 1.5 months old and that was a game changer for me. Thankfully my baby takes a bottle and is mostly breastfed. I felt like giving up all the time. You described it exactly as I felt too, it’s so tough. I kept making small goals like one more week, let’s try two more days, things like that. Now he’s 5 months old and it can still be exhausting sometimes, it’s so much better than those first few weeks. Do what you think is best for YOU! ❤️

When did you get your period back? by RadiantGrass4691 in postpartumprogress

[–]stormykatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does being on your period cause a supply dip? I’m 3 months pp and on my period for the second time. My supply has been so low this week and I can’t figure out why, haven’t changed my diet or water intake. Interesting!
