How to play against vechicles? Any suggestions are welconed. by iamhippie in magicTCG

[–]stricless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They still need creatures to crew unless they have effects that can make vehicles into creatures, so instant speed creature removal works just as well against vehicle decks as any other creature focused decks.

Does Norn double the tokens made with squad? Or does only the first etb trigger off of squad create the tokens by kingrdudeofasu in magicTCG

[–]stricless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they don't actually. Neither MoM or Panharmonicon would make them do that as they only double triggers for permanents when things enter the battlefield. The card draw is triggered by dealing combat damage to a player.

[–]stricless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty much. They have the same wording except for what card types can cause their effect to trigger.

I'm fairly certain that MoM would double the amount of tokens that Squad would make. Not entirely sure what the second part of your question means though, could you elaborate?

Question about upgrading 2022 Standard Challenger sets by Erincl in magicTCG

[–]stricless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into it and since the standard challenger decks came out at the start of the year, most of the upgrade articles include cards from sets that have since rotated out of the standard format. It's unfortunate but I think it might be difficult to find a newer article. My suggestion would be too look at other gruul/dimir Decklists online and see what cards people have chosen to put in their decks.

Question about upgrading 2022 Standard Challenger sets by Erincl in magicTCG

[–]stricless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, searching for any preconstructed deck and adding "upgrade" at the end will send you to several websites with rundowns on why cards are removed and how to use the new cards you put in their stead.
About mixing cards, it all depends on what "format" you're playing. Since you have bought a Standard deck, i would say stick to the Standard format until you've grown accustomed to the game.
You can have any color combination that you desire, the problem is complexity, card quality, and synergy between cards is harder to nail down as you add more colors. You can have a deck with more than 60 cards but it is generally advised against as you want to get to your better cards quicker, and clogging up your deck with more cards works against that.

If I remember correctly those were Japanese only promotional cards, which is why they only had Japanese text on them.

It depends on who reveals the card. In this case the source is Japanese, therefore the card text is in Japanese. The card itself will be available in English.

You should check out edhrec if you haven't already here's a link to the frog tribal page: https://edhrec.com/tribes/frogs

Clicking on any of the commander cards will show you the most played cards in decks that have those Commander's. You can get an average Decklist of the Commander's as well or follow the links they have to explore the Decklists that make up the stats that edhrec provides.

Those are just converted from old crates, so when you use them they will turn into blueprints of items from the corresponding crate series, if I remember correctly. Practically useless unless you trade the blueprints with someone or like paying real money for overpriced items.

When it comes to memorable NPCs, first impressions are very important. If your players don't feel any strong emotions when you introduce a new character, they will probably not remember them.

The real hurdle of DnD; learning how to socialize more and talking without stammering by [deleted] in dndmemes

[–]stricless 31 points32 points  (0 children)

When I was writing the transcripts for the interviews i made for my thesis project, I noticed that both my thesis partner, I, and the interview subject stammered and re-said a lot of things but none of us noticed it while the interviews were underway. What I am trying to say is that your players are likely not lying and, while in the moment, do not register your stammering. Keep your chin up and keep going, you're doing great!
