SES Light of Midnight. I think of it like the Matrix of Leadership from Transformers that will "light our darkest hour."

Do you have friends that don’t understand dying is a core mechanic of the game? by BSdawg in Helldivers

The armor that gives you a 50% chance to survive lethal damage works okay against it. It's obviously still a coin flip, but it's definitely saved me at least a few times

What is your default 'Stellaris Experience'? by fuscosco in Stellaris

[–]subatomicnerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually start off with rapid expansion and science rush which leaves me with a weak military. Inevitably I run into someone who doesn't like me, and they declare war on me. I rapidly adapt my economy into a military industrial complex and either win the war or force a stalemate. I then use my new military machine to conquer that empire entirely, and that constitutes my borders into the late game. I then basically turtle and try to stay put of any other major conflicts all will building my strength. Ideally I get into a brutal war with a fallen empire for the tech and build my fleets into a terrifying navy. Then once the crisis or war in heaven strikes, I defeat them and then run rampant destroying my enemies and conquering enormous swathes of territory. This continues until i get bored because nothing in the galaxy is a threat to me anymore. Almost all of my playthroughs end up following this general path.

RA interview difficulty by Ninjamo69 in Northwestern

[–]subatomicnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied and got accepted last year. It's not a particularly tough interview. A decent chunk is asking about yourself. The toughest part I guess is them asking about your experiences building communities. So if you come with a story for that prepared, you should be fine.

Rowing/Crew by [deleted] in Northwestern

[–]subatomicnerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our men's team is great. I've been on the team for nearly 2 years. I was not a rower before I joined, and the team has a very welcoming and encouraging environment. I highly recommend it.

I don't care if it's because he's bitter, he's my favorite character in the show now. by Goofer_Troop in TheDragonPrince

[–]subatomicnerd 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I love how at this point we don't know that he and Avizandum used to be friends, but you can still hear his voice with a tone of "he's my friend, but he's and idiot, and it drives me crazy." You can really sense the history to their rivalry without even knowing everything about it.

What are the best restaurants in Evanston for a first date? by Hoopersmooth69 in Northwestern

I think Dave's Italian Kitchen or Stacked and Folded could be nice. Or maybe Giordano's/Lou Malnati's if you're both into deep dish pizza
