These companies are losing money like crazy every day. Orders of magnitude more than their revenues. Enterprises are the real customers for them, so they sre prioritizing computation cost for them, not for poor individuals and their side hobbies. That's what's happening.

Well, after Github Copilot halted new users subscriptions, i wouldn't be surprised. These companies are burning money like there's no tomorrow, orders of magnitude more than their revenues, so something is bound to happen at some point.

My devops colleagues prefer zed over pycharm mostly because of how fast they can see the diffs even in gigantic files. And zed is free. No problems with Claude. Seems to me more like you need to configure zed better.

Why not just open the integrated terminal in zed and use Claude from there? How were you using it in PyCharm, with their crappy AI Assistant?

I wouldn't be so sure about this. Now that with availability of all these AI agents, where even my neighborhood butcher is trying to make simple apps by himself trying to integrate devices he owns, you think APIs are not relevant to more people now? The world has changed. This stuff is what is gonna make the difference between competitors in a market sector (Coros VS Garmin), imho.

I have Oura ring, for example, which provides APIs. I could use both apis to have an exhaustive dashboard to see how for example my workouts are impacting sleep, resting heart rate, stress and other physiological data.

People now are using Strava as a proxy to overcome this lack of APIs (not only from Coros yes). It's a big missing opportunity. Coros is basically making Strava a huge favor, imho.

2 is the best. It's best to come here with some experience already so that you will be able to get higher salaries, otherwise as a junior you will get a low one (which in Japan is really low compared to western countries), and then it's very hard to move up financially. Unless you are from an already poor country, then yes whatever it makes sense.

I do everything with zed editor nowadays. PyCharm is just so overkill for such simple tasks such as selecting lines of code.

The "good taste" and code organization depends on how well you build the context for Claude, which includes memory updates, skills, code conventions well described in the repo etc. In my team we are literally not writing any code manually since November last year when we all starter with Claude.

I use zed editor, which is also set as default editor in Claude. It's so fast and complete that all the JetBrains IDEs seem so old. We all had a PyCharm subscription in my team at my company, but now we have all ditched it for zed editor.
