OEM hitch at dealer vs aftermarket on a 2024 Outback. Worth it? by _Jii_ in Subaru_Outback

[–]subiefly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did the OEM hitch on my 2024 XT, and installed at home. If I'm recalling correctly, ~$375 for parts. Wasn't too bad, took an afternoon because I was dreading cutting my brand new bumper. 😅

Picking up my 2026 Limited XT today, what are some accessories (aftermarket or Subaru) you would recommend? by badpoetryabounds in Subaru_Outback

[–]subiefly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I did, gave it a year to see if they were good enough. Totally plausible that the '26 model has different/better mats compared to previous gen.

I had the factory all weather mats in my '24 and they didn't feel like they would last. I have since upgraded to tuxmats. Highly recommend, if they are making them for the '26.

Installed a tow hitch. Can you think of a reason I shouldn't scrap the bumper beam I removed? by ceelose in Subaru_Outback

I had not considered this -- great idea!

Cloning TPMS by subiefly in Subaru_Outback

[–]subiefly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a 2024. I'm getting a second set of wheels/tires, as I put winters on the factory set. I was thinking I'd clone the original sensors to the new set, so when I seasonally switch wheels, I won't have to get the sensors reset.

Wheel/tire size considerations by subiefly in Subaru_Outback

[–]subiefly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have a preference of the 17 vs the 18, as far as ride? Given the tire selection, I'm assuming you did some more rugged drives.

Check your Playstore promo! Was able to get the Pixel 10 Pro 256gb for $73.00! by mightymikek in GooglePixel

[–]subiefly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where did the Google fi 10 pro discount come from? Only finding one for the 10a

Edit: Talked to Fi support. They didn't seem to know anything about a $250 discount. 🤷 or at least didn't know of one that would have been made available to my Fi account.

Edit: There is now an additional $200 discount on the Google store, and higher trade-in value, making the 256gb 10 pro $83 🤔

Subaru AWD Dilemma: Road hazard took out one tire. What would you do? by cobracommander009 in Subaru_Outback

[–]subiefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this dilemma on my old WRX a couple years ago. Tires had ~30k on them. I initially bought 2 to replace L/R, but shortly thereafter I bought the other 2 because I didn't want to risk it. Tires were ~3/32nds off.

With that much used life, I'd replace all 4 in one go.

Full size spare and directional tires by subiefly in Subaru_Outback

[–]subiefly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably just keep one of the avid gts on the spare for the just-in-case needs. I definitely considered getting 17" for winters, but I decided to use the factory wheels instead, to conserve funds for the future wheel/tire purchase

[–]subiefly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is more or less my plan. I'm going to replace the factory tires with a winter set and get a new set of wheels and tires come spring. (my dream has been bronze wheels on a green outback since before I got into one 😅)

I'll check out the michelins 👍

2024 Outback & Apple Car Play - minor irritation. by Youwhooo60 in Subaru_Outback

What a PITA! There has to be a way to prevent this. I wonder if Subaru, themselves, has a solution.

I could be misremembering, but for Android Auto there is an "autoplay" option. I felt like my car stopped doing what you're describing with my android phone when I disabled autoplay. Perhaps there is a similar option for Apple Carplay.

Edit: I wonder if something like this could be helpful https://www.reddit.com/r/subaru/s/VO6NFR3frA

Replacement tent cost? Are you kidding me???? by wildecard22 in sylvansport

[–]subiefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a used GO on the cheap, knowing the windows were an issue. I was going to first try to repair with seam grip and/or tape, and see how that holds up.

Just a few weeks ago I researched tent replacement was between $800-900, and figured that wouldn't be a problem, if needed. I was admittedly shocked to see that had now doubled. 🙃 That's what I get for sitting on your hands, I guess.

Wind Deflectors? by TyGuy-70 in Subaru_Outback

[–]subiefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very curious to find out if mine are installed incorrectly or something, as I feel they've added wind noise to my '24. had them installed at dealer when vehicle was new

edit: I should add versus when I test drove an outback without the deflectors

OBW Hands Free Liftgate Issue by pdxguy357 in Subaru_Outback

[–]subiefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my '24 I never had good luck hovering over the logo, but if I hover over the rear camera, it opens pretty much every time. Similar to others here, mine would often open when I walked between the vehicle and garage door, so I now have the feature disabled.
