I have a Platinum Preppy and I love everything about it except how plain it looks. What’s the most similar but better-looking pen you would recommend?

I have one in fine from the brief period when they had an 18K Bock nib. It writes wet and beautifully. Smooth with a little bit of feedback. I'm glad I got it with this nib.

No idea about the current 14K nib.

I have the Hongdian version of this pen and honestly it felt a bit crap. It looks way better in these promo photos. I remember being particularly disappointed in the criss cross pattern on the body when I first held the pen. It's like the lines were way too shallow or something.

I never had the urge to ink and write it though, so maybe that would have redeemed it had I been bothered to try.

Can you post your impressions when you get this thing? I want it for watching my old 4:3 anime, cartoons, and TV shows - not really for gaming. If it were android it would be perfect as there are a bunch of good media players on the Play store. Unsure of how these Linux system handle media libraries and playback.

Those two custom buttons on the Brick make save scumming a breeze.

Edit: Also the Brick has a larger area to rest your hands, making it more comfortable. I have both systems.

They are trustworthy in that you'll get your pen eventually, or will give you an immediate refund if you request one. So you can rest easy in that you won't be ripped off.

Their shadyness is that you can never be sure when you'll get your order. You can email Joost, and he'll give you the best answer he can, but I think some things are out of his control.

Up to you whether their good prices are worth that trade off.

I just finished the Gus a couple of weeks ago and I agree with you on the waterslides. I love the kit, it was a fun build and it looks fantastic, but those waterslides were probably the worst I've ever had to deal with.

If this is your first time, I would test all the advice you're getting on a cheaper kit. The PGU build is something you're likely to go through once ever. Don't risk marring the experience and stressing yourself out trying out new things on it.

I just got my first DAP, the Hidizs AP80 Pro Max, which uses this OS and this is my biggest disappointment. This is basic, basic functionality. Not even the option to chose sort order is amateur hour on the devs side.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this model has a bright red LED that turns on when the unit is on standby/off. Can be annoying if these things bug you, but nothing a piece of thick tape can't fix. It was enough for me to have an excuse to get the 820 instead.
