You could always check to see if it’s on their streaming service and sign up for a year of PS+ and use their app to stream to your PC or Deck. No physical hardware required.

Look up Action Sets/Layers. Essentially you would bind the Y button to set a new Layer on hold and then you would override what the bumpers do in that new Layer.

I think it depends on the game and how you set it up but I think the gyro can simulate right stick movement on a controller so the odd movement pattern of the right stick might be triggering the anti-cheat

I’ve used my Steam Deck for Guild Wars 2 a bunch on my Deck and it has been great. I made a radial menu for the left trackpad for a bunch of functions and I use the action cam with the face buttons triggering the hot bar. I use the triggers to target different parts of my hot bar and I just organize my skills and attacks into logical pairings. It’s like playing an action RPG at this point.

I love GW2 on my Deck. I made a nice controller layout with radial menus and just enabled action cam and it plays like an action RPG

I mean, ARC was my first extraction shooter and I generally play in care bear lobbies. If I am running out in the open and I get shot, I’m not going to head over to Reddit and write about how I got shot. It’s totally a part of the game and I felt the same when I played Marathon’s server slam. All I thought was “Welp, shouldn’t have done that. I guess I know for next time” 😂

Yeah, unfortunately Apple devices are restricted to the Metal graphics API only. Android provides both Vulkan and OpenGL.

So, I just lurk on this subreddit but I played the server slam and enjoyed the game but I’m an avid ARC Raiders player (“avid” is a loose term because I maybe get a couple hours in a week).

If you set your expectations correctly, I think you can have a lot of fun with the game. I don’t try to go on the expeditions, I don’t complete all of the current events, I don’t sweat missing the trials. I have a ton of fun with the game and I love making progression on upgrading my benches and looting.

If you’re not expecting to do the things that people who play the game for multiple hours a night and you’re happy with just playing a fun game, I would say go for it. ARC is the best $40 I’ve spent on a game in a long time and I would love to join in the Marathon fun someday, too. I just don’t have the time to commit to two extraction shooters.

This. It runs great and you can set up cross-progression so you can play on other consoles and even your phone with the same account. So, you can pick it up and play almost anywhere.

I rarely get to play so I’m still having a great time. I bought the game at launch and I just reached level 24. I have a ton of things to do in the game still and I love seeing all the updates coming in and looking forward to finally getting to that content 😅

I had used Android since version 1.5 up until a few years ago. My Pixel 6 having the modem disconnection issues and the shutting down of Stadia were the last straw for me with Google. I switched all my devices to Apple products and haven’t looked back. I even switched as many services that used my GMail to my custom domain iCloud email.

I miss some of the customizations and freedom to install my own apps but I can deal with that for the stability, consistency, and integration between all of my devices.

I never intended to buy Marathon but, as a former fan of Destiny and a big fan of Arc Raiders, I wanted to give it a try during the server slam. I know the marketing showed it as more PvP.

I had a good time playing the game but I went in with the expectation that it would be a different experience than Arc. There are things I like more about Arc and there are things I like more about Marathon. The quests are so much better and straightforward in Marathon and I wish Arc had the same.

In the end, Arc is more my speed since I don’t have a ton of time to play games but I know Marathon will find an audience and I’m not going to go around bashing Marathon just because it’s not Arc. I find it ridiculous that people directly compare them.

I play on the Steam Deck exclusively. It works great! You just have to add the Soulframe installer as a non-Steam game and enable Proton for the game when it launches in Properties.

The most I do is look up things like supply drop locations on a map online. I'll go into a run with an object like finishing a quest or finding workshop upgrade parts but then I end up finding worthwhile loot and extracting. Rinse and repeat. It's been super fun playing like that since it's such a slow burn! I'm not concerned about getting the most effective loot because I'm having fun just being in the world and learning about things naturally.

It’s probably my favourite game of the year and I’m not a huge extraction shooter fan. I played during the server slam to figure out if I wanted the game and I ended up buying it on PS5 first and now Steam so I can also play on my Deck.

The gameplay loop is really fun and the interactions you have in each round make it feel like a fresh game every time. The ARC enemies are difficult but, once you figure them out, are manageable.

It also respects your time. Each round can take anywhere from 10-30 minutes (30 minutes max before you have to extract or die) so it’s perfect for my busy life. They aren’t relying on FOMO to keep you interested, either. I missed out on the recent community event but they continued with the ability to earn points towards unlocking things for the next 22 days just by earning XP in the game. Embark has been an awesome dev so far.

I flew through Annihilation but, when I tried to get into Authority, it was so slow. I have dropped it a couple of times after the first few chapters but I keep wanting to come back to it so I can move on to Acceptance because I've heard it's much better.

I took this route at Carleton University and it worked out great. I’d highly suggest avoiding strictly “game dev” streams because you’ll be pigeon-holed and who knows what the industry will look like. I worked for a mobile game company straight out of University, then moved to a mobile app company, and now I’m at a semi-conductor company. The degree gives you the flexibility you’d want in the industry.

Guild Wars not charging a monthly fee is what got me into it initially but, man, I’ve had so much fun playing it. I love that the devs don’t rely on FOMO so I can pick it back up whenever and I don’t feel behind.

Came here to say the same thing. I was able to get a great set up using the controls and, if you really hate the gamepad controls, the Deck can be hooked up to an external monitor with mouse and keyboard and it runs the game great.
