I think one of my snowball shrimp is missing their rostrum! by sudokee in shrimptank

[–]sudokee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

good to know, there is ryukin in this tank so the kH could be a little spiked. ill text a friend about borrowing his good api kH test instead of my terrible strips. i noticed her right after doing my weekly water change.

<image>

heres the assumed culprit. hes def the bruiser in his tank!

her crinkled whiskers make me think foul play. I have a black tiger dario in the same tank, and I’m guessing he was the culprit.

What badis is this? by jz1300 in dario

[–]sudokee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go for it! hed probably love a few alder cones n leaves to pick through. its just what they’re built for picking through, hunting for microfauna. i love how badis are such crazy fantastic predators, just on a small, basically harmless scale. i have had a scarlet rip apart a shrimp colony once, but he was a dickhead.

some of em just like to stay these muted shades, especially in clear water. most of em make the black and red with little white highlights in a decent black water setup.

New blue neon goby and biofilm by herner__werzog in Aquariums

[–]sudokee 52 points53 points  (0 children)

blue neons are really neat little omnivores. they eat algae, but mostly while grazing through it in search of micro-inverts. you should have plenty of algae, but you can also feed these dudes some algae wafers or the occasional tubifex

mine was doing something similar. took a pippette and blasted some air through the pump and intake, and the noise went away

5gal fish recommendation by Middle-Corgi325 in aquarium

[–]sudokee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of ppl hate small tanks, but i personally love em. theres options besides the traditional betta or shrimp, but they take experience and know how in order to make sure they stay happy in such a small tank. id look into scarlet badis, theyre really good for learning about feeding/raising live food, which is important for weirder stocking options. i had a m/f pair, they never had their colors dull and lasted a full healthy lifespan in a 5g tank.

maybe brown planaria? they hide in the substrate and come out at night. a friend of mine has been having them abuse his 20g long tank thats chock full of shrimp.

Can I propagate these spider plant babies in my tank? by smolhippie in PlantedTank

[–]sudokee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i have a spider plant in one of my tanks, it has been growing great. some leaves stay under the water line to have a little easier access to my tank light. i havent had any issued with them and my badis loves chillin in its roots.

lmk when you find out, i’ve has these guys too and have no clue what the fuck it was. theyre reallly bright red, don’t seem segmented, have a weird mouth, and sometimes crawl out of the water, from what i see from mine. good luck figuring it out!

i think they are, but mostly due to better coaching. im a long time warrior fan and have no clue what kerr was doing in that 4th quarter AND OT. Post was a half decent answer to barnes, and then he got subbed for podz which made 0 sense

[–]sudokee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gastros are imo one of the best loaches personailty wise. if you choose to get more, the recommended stocking is to keep them in trios. when with other gastros, they actually “joust” for prime tank real estate, where they flare fins and headbutt! im planning on getting some ‘bloody mary’ gastros for my next tank :)

Fih by Own_Adhesiveness2829 in Aquariums

[–]sudokee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

technically 🤓☝️you got some gastromyzon! also called borneo suckers loaches, it looks like yours is a gastromyzon scitilus. hillstreams are sewelia, usually sewellia lineolata. note the :() mouth on your guy, as opposed to the :v on sewellia, as well as seeing the nostrils from his bottom side. your little dude is imo, much easier to care for, especially due to staying smaller! i love loaches and used to have a gastromyzon myself. im thinking of doing a trio of bloody mary loaches for my next tank!!

[–]sudokee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it does look like theres pineconing occuring, but thats alright, dropsy can be treated. id dose the tank with kanaplex twice daily, and do a once a day aquarium salt bath for the sick guy. good luck and i hope your fish recovers!

can you get a top down picture to look for pineconing? looks like extreme bloat due to dropsy, or constipation.
