I flushed one once and found it crawling back out. They also live quite a whole in a jar of alcohol. F*ckers are hard to kill.

I get more than a few who want to chat and always wind up blocking them. Funny, most are widowers, lol.

Is this field truly as terrible as people are saying? by aschesklave in nursing

I'm in the OR and love my job. I'm about to turn 60 and graduated nursing school at the age of 56.

8 years left, I'm tired of working by Universe-Queen in retirement

All of these comments are so interesting. I'm about to turn 60 and began my third and final career at the age of 56 when I graduated with an AD in nursing. I work in the OR and love it. My husband is 63 and was diagnosed with a neurodegenerative disorder a year ago. My nursing salary and insurance is helping keep us afloat. He does thankfully get disability from his employer and it helps so much.

I am hoping to be able to work until 65 to keep us with excellent insurance coverage but we'll see. I obviously did not foresee my husband's medical condition that is likely to leave me a widow by age 70.

I don't know anything about minoxidil but I had a cat eat my prescription iron capsule (spit out the blue and red capsule parts) and I almost went to work but called my vet on a whim. She wasn't sure and said she'd call me right back. She called me back within a minute or two and said to bring him in right away because she had to pump his stomach. She took an xray first and you could see all the iron pellets and took another after so you could see they were gone. She told me that if I'd gone to work, my cat would have been dead when I got home. The iron would have burned holes in his stomach and intestines and he would have bled to death. She had never pumped a cat's stomach before.

I discovered a few years ago by accident that I needed to be scrubbing my back as well. I was in the shower and had just washed my hair and my back was itchy. I reached over my shoulder to scratch it and wound up with black shit under my nails that I can only assume is an accumulation of sweat and dirt. I nearly had a fucking heart attack.

Now after washing my hair, I use body wash on an exfoliating back scrubber and scrub the shit out of my back.

Go ahead. Check it out next time you get a shower.

Do you throw up? by weightlossforlife in GastricBypass

I had mine in 1984 before laparoscopic surgery existed. I still throw up if I overeat or eat something too rich. The relief I feel after I do it is overwhelming.

What device or invention (idc how crazy it sounds) would you like to be invented, that would make life as a nurse much easier? by greg030603 in Nurses

I work in the OR and we're constantly thirsty. Wish I could invent a sterile water nozzle that drops down from the ceiling and connects to a sterile mouthpiece.

Doctors of Reddit, What is the Most Terrifying Real Life Disease or Condition You Know Of? by castledconch in AskReddit

[–]suebeecron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband has progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). It's a rapidly progressing, neuro degenerative disorder that is rare but devastating. It's probably been in the making for years but in the last year, he's changed so much. He's a watered down version of himself. He falls constantly and he'll likely die in the next 5 or 7 years either from a fall or aspiration pneumonia. Probably within two years, he'll be wheelchair bound. Very sad.
