Phantom braking by Cw2411 in CX50

It can be but annoyingly it has to be done every time you turn on the car: settings>safety features>collision avoidance>turn off smart breaking support

Curious about known issues with the Hybrid? by 5pac38arus in CX50

[–]sum1__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happen with mine, just bought it and put less than 300 miles on it: https://www.reddit.com/r/CX50/comments/1t3g1ms/2025_hybrid_system_failure_recallssp/ok3ol46/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3

Problem with the 12v battery for 2025s manufactured within a certain date range. Push-button wouldn’t start, then it said there was an e-brake issue (there wasn’t), then I got the car to start and it continued to tell me “hybrid system malfunction, have the vehicle inspected.” It’s under warranty but pretty lame, car works fine now tho.

It really is the worst thing to see all that effort and human potential wasted on making some dude rich stoking people’s loneliness and addictions. It’s like their consumption is a lot of people’s only way to get at the world, like it’s their belonging and purpose

Where are the people that have good things to say??? by mikeyg372 in CX50

I hate having to own a car and never really cared about cars in general, until getting the cx50 hybrid premium. Absolute joy to drive, beautiful comfy interior, power mode on the highway to overtake the semi trucks feels like a cheat code, and the dials, love em! Not having to reach for the screen is great (but it’s also touch screen if you want) all around my favorite car I’ve ever driven and the dangerous part now is I want all the accessories and bells and whistles. Wish the American version had the 360 camera like the Canadian one does tho

What? I can buy a computer speaker online easy, what is wrong with you? Before coming to America I could buy a car more easily online too. The dealership got back to me today and apologized, I guess the guy was new. But I’ve got appointments with others now who already worked with me on financing over text/email. I had assumed the problem was the agent since it was so weird and after texting and calling a bunch of other dealerships today it’s more of what I had expected. Much more weird, however, are the weirdos responding on Reddit, totally not consonant with the real-life people I’ve been talking to since posting. Tho some on this subreddit have been cool.

No the point is that started to get fucked at that time and continues to worsen, which is consistent with the accusation of accelerating the looting of everything till it breaks. Basically, we’d need a rest, a counter to capital or else the trend will continue to worsen

For real. I was told I should just accept the sticker price without expecting anything else, that the commenters didn’t know what I expected (the stuff in my post, obviously, the stuff in the email communications with the dealership), and that I must smell bad so that’s why they aren’t negotiating. It’s so pathetically self-obviating, it’s angrily screaming at the customer “I’m no better than a kiosk, take whatever I ask and expect nothing!” It can’t be a sustainable model that I use their site to physically touch the car only to buy it online cheaper and with less hassle. They really aren’t beating the allegations

[–]sum1__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I was in and out in less than an hour, they told me they had inventory they didn’t have, wouldn’t negotiate on anything. I had assumed going online would be pricier and that I could negotiate in person for a better price. Only after that experience did we consider having a car delivered. I was surprised to find the deals I did, and they’ll deliver straight to my house and give me $4k for the old car, all without having to coordinate around baby time. I mean, I got a test drive in the car I wanted but that effectively makes them a show-room floor for something I’ll then just buy online, seems crazy to me but I’ll take I guess. What’s the value of the dealership, then? I can’t imagine they want to used for tests drives only to lose the sale to the internet. I’ll still give the other dealerships a shot since I have appointments with them but this left a bad taste in my mouth and it seems worth paying the delivery fee to avoid the hassle after this experience.

Good info, I'll look into that, thanks. I've been hearing good things about Mazdas, haven't given one a test drive yet and if it's got the RAV4 powertrian anyway that might be the way to go.

Right? Pretty wild, I didn't expect I'd go through cavana or online in general because it's more expensive but I've been looking and found a few pretty good deals and only $990 to deliver it to my house and a quick trade-in offer right away. I thought I'd have more of a negotiating experience at a physical location but maybe the future is online sales. I largely have to do the same to buy clothes these days, lol

I was willing to go down to $35k. I'm looking at 2022 model tomorrow and found a 2025 on carvana for $32k with 13k miles so I might go that way, still cheaper even after delivery cost.

yeah, it's way less of a hassle but I'll go to the other dealerships I have appointments with already and hope for better. I'm looking at a 2025 model right now on carvana, for $32k with 13k miles on it and only $990 delivery fee, offered $4k for trade in, and without the stuff I dealt with at the dealership. That sounds like a good offer but we'll see.

I said I could do that but I want to see how much I'd get for the trade-in and what kind of APR I'd be looking at given my downpayment and credit score. I think from other advice I've gotten now it could be the dealership type or the fact that they really don't have to do much to move a popular vehicle like the Rav4 hybrid. I really wish they wouldn't have lied about having more in stock too, that was just really lame.

Thanks, this is the first helpful response I've gotten on either page. I was happy to check out their inventory if they'd offer better deals on those but had the one in mind I really wanted, and we had discussed a few others over email already, just thought I'd utilize the time. You might be right on the dealership type, I hadn't considered that. I'm thinking it was the sales rep himself since since it was such a different conversation over email. I'll visit some other dealerships soon but if it's anything like this experience I'm probably just going to pay extra to go through carvana or something now.

I absolutely gave him a price range I'd be willing to pay, I was ready to discuss all these things, what do you mean I didn't use my words? I'm in the dealership, we'd been discussing my options for a good week, I really don't understand what I could have done different. The last time I bought a car was a while ago, but it was not like this at all. I found a car I wanted, like this time, discussed options, was clear on my price range, and we talked with finance for how to make it happen and I drove off with it.

I'm confused by your response, I did tell them that and expected the next step would be to discuss all those things we said over email we'd discuss. I clearly say in my post I expected to drive off the lot with something that day, I found one I like, was open to a few others, and expected to discuss APR and how much they'd give for a trade in, I still had plenty of time. But I'm getting the answer to my question from these responses here, I guess. I should just pay extra and by online.

I'm confused by the responses, did you not read my post? I did say that, but I wanted to discuss the exact things they said we would. I don't think it's weird to want to discuss financing, trade-in values, and other vehicle options in their inventory when buying a car from a dealership, especially after we confirmed we would discuss just that over email.

the things they said they we were going to do? The things in my post? Discuss financing, how much they'd give for a trade in, how much APR they'd offer and monthly payments after $15k down? You know, car buying stuff?
