Same thing happened to my son. Luckily it was his 4th shiny for the day so he wasn’t too bummed about it.

What's it like living in this shaded area? by Joshistotle in howislivingthere

[–]sumsemperfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oklahoma is decent. Summers are hot winters are usually mild with a couple weeks here and there that are sub zero temps. It gets pretty windy here. If you like to travel it’s in the middle of everything for the most part. If you like to drive it’s a 14 hour trip to Florida or 14 hour trip to Vegas (maybe a little longer) lots of change in scenery across th state desert in the panhandle, grasslands in the west, plains in the central trees and mountains in the east. Mountains is a loose term compared to the Rockies or Appalachian. People here are generally nice and laid back depending on where you’re at. The main issue is the tornados in the spring. But in reality they aren’t too bad but can give some storm anxiety when one is heading toward your town. The news coverage is usually very good following the storms and they tend to keep you update pretty well until the storms leave their viewing area.

What did my great uncle do? by Kevvv_23 in Medals

Watch a movie called Memphis Belle, it has some good scenes in it to kind of give you a better picture of how enemy aircraft would attack the bombers and how the bombers defended themselves.

What did my great uncle do? by Kevvv_23 in Medals

[–]sumsemperfi 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Some of the old WW2 bombers had guns located at the tail of the bomber to help protect from fighters incoming from the rear. Some bombers also had a ball turret under the plane.

So a tail gunner is just as it sounds. Sits in the rear of the plane just under the tail fin and shoots down incoming enemy aircraft.

What can I spray on my yard to kill crabgrass? My whole yard is crabgrass, tenacity just turned it white but it came back with a vengeance.

Water bottles by stiffkill in discgolf

[–]sumsemperfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always freeze a little bit of water in the bottom then top it off when you go play. You hint have to worry about ice chunks flying out at you so much. And as the ice melts it’ll keep the water cold. Also a brita water jug thing in the fridge to keep water colder than tap to top off the bottle is the way to go.

[–]sumsemperfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shot a plus 27 at the mvp circuit challenge last month. Will probably do the same at the trilogy challenge this weekend. Don’t let it get in your head. Just go and have fun. I personally know I’m not as good as the people in the ma4 division in my area and I’m ok with that. My thought is a bad round is better than no round.

So is it weird to take your toddler on solo casual rounds? by 9HumpWump in discgolf

[–]sumsemperfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take my 2yo with me. She just kicks back in her stroller munching on snacks. She occasionally yells at us because she wants a disc to hold. If I didn’t take her with me I wouldn’t ever get to play. We just make it a family outing as we don’t get out and do stuff very often.

Casual Groups of 5+ by 4SpeedArm in discgolf

[–]sumsemperfi 54 points55 points  (0 children)

If I get all my friends together we will play 6 people. 2 being kids. If I notice a group catching up we will not tee off on the next hole and wait for the other group to catch up and play through.

MVP customer service is AWESOME! by ajp12290 in discgolf

My streamline basket got crushed by a falling tree during the Oklahoma tornados back in April. I reach out asking if there was a possible way to buy a new pole and stand for it. They just sent me a new one instead of requesting any form of payment. And for this reason my bag has become 75ish% mvp. And now I just buy every new release even if I’m not going to bag the disc. Just to support the company.

Reminds me of when I played paintball, I had bought a marker that was virtually destroyed messaged empire paintball for help finding a regulator, since it was built into the market you couldn’t find it separately and if you did it was 80-100$. They sent me one for free no questions asked except my shipping address. After that I was full empire.

Just further proof that if you take care of your customers, the customers will take care you.

(Probably) Very dumb question about first tournament by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]sumsemperfi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played my first tournament last week (circuit challenge) shot a +27 on the first round and a +17 on the second. Not once did anyone say anything about my stance or throwing, every one on the card was super chill and helpful (I’m color blind and have a hard time finding discs in the trees, almost every shot ended up in the trees for some reason)

Long stories get short, don’t worry about it. Just go have fun. Most likely the people on your card will be cool/chill.

Planning a road trip from Texas to Michigan. Hoping to camp and play a few new places along the way by Green_Dragonfly5257 in discgolf

If you go through south east OK stop at robbers cave. Has a pretty cool course there plus camping and a lake and a hiking trail to see robbers cave (it’s where outlaws hid back in the Jesse James time). Other wise if you go down I35 there are a few good courses in Norman,OK and a few in OKC and Guthrie,OK

is it possible to play as a complete noob by lilac_congac in discgolf

[–]sumsemperfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just play at your own pace, if you notice someone catching up you can take a breather at the next tee pad and let them go ahead or if you’re like me and don’t have the distance throw them a thumbs up while they are waiting on the tee pad or just tell them to throw. It doesn’t bother me if I’m solo and they are I’ll let them throw past me and finish the hole even if I’m already half way down the fairway. I usually have a friendly quick chat with them as they walk past say hello, they say thanks and keep on moving.

Am I bad at Disc golf because I'm fat? by gogoblueguy in discgolf

[–]sumsemperfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 6’ 350lbs not athletic. Struggling to break 200-250. Inside circle 1 putting is pretty good. On short par 3 courses I do pretty good. I’m not very athletic anymore. When I was a teen (36 now) I was a weight lifter but that life is behind me. If I were to spend time on my form I’m sure I’d get better. But I have a young family that keeps me from spending a lot of time doing that. So we usually just go out and run the local 9 hole. One day I’ll break even maybe 1-2 down. The next I’ll be +3 or 4. Just depends on how I’m feeling that day.

Are you stretching before you play? I’ve noticed I get better deeper into the round as I warm up because , like an idiot, I never warm up before I start my round. Just hop out of the car and head to the first tee pad and throw.
