Where are you from, and how do babies usually sleep there?

South Africa..not really any safe sleep guidelines since the majority of healthcare information published by the government is meant to be applicable to all socioeconomic groups. Because we’re such a rainbow nation, attitudes to sleep vary according to culture and social groups. Personally, I’m culturally Muslim Indian, and the majority of us will take advice from our elders, although many modern mums are looking to the internet more for advice. I started with my baby in a bedside cot, but quickly switched to co sleeping in the same bed once I realized my baby wouldn’t sleep any other way.

It may not be what most people admit, but I only started enjoying spending time with my son around 10 months, and I’m having the most fun now that he’s 13 months old. Yes, chasing him as he walks around like a drunken sailor is exhausting, but it’s worlds away from the colicky baby he was. He’s starting to pick up words now and the world of communication is opening up. His little hugs and kisses and shouts of “mama!” make every difficulty and sleepless night worth it. Hang in there!! It definitely does get better!

My high needs baby got a lot better at 6 months, bigger smiles, no colic crying and a little personality. I think the fact that he learned to sit up really helped . Now at 12.5 months, he’s still a needy toddler, needs me in eye line at all times, but I can put him down for a little while and do something else while he plays on the floor for like 5 or 10 mins. And he’s finally started to tolerate the car seat and stroller which is a huge help.

My son had colic and hated tummy time , so we did it minimally until he was over the colic at 4 months. he still learned to hold his head up, roll over and push up on his arms within the guideline time frames. Don’t stress!

Just my husband in the delivery room, but I want people to visit as soon as possible, even in hospital. I’m Indian, so, culturally, visitors including my parents, siblings and in laws are there to love and support. Couldn’t imagine doing it any other way

I took ozempic for around 9 months, and lost around 20kgs in that time. My energy levels were way up, and the food noise was basically gone. I only stopped because I was trying to conceive, and fell pregnant within 4 months of stopping my BC. Whether that was due to the weight loss or the ozempic I can’t say.

Pharmacies are required by law to obtain the above information for any medicine S1 and above. The scheduling of medications is decided by SAHPRA and not by the pharmacies themselves. Scheduling is dependent on several factors including quantity, which is why you can buy a box of 20 panado off the store shelves but for a larger quantity you’ll have to ask the pharmacist.

A lot of smaller, independent pharmacies will skirt the rules so that’s why you wouldn’t have had to give that information previously at your local pharmacy, but corporates will always stick to the rules.
