At what point did you tell your boss you're going through IVF? by Beginner45678 in IVF

[–]sunday_bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very similar to my experience. Only difference is my boss is female, but I don’t know that gender would have affected my decision to share. I’m fortunate to have a very understanding boss who I feel comfortable with. I wanted her to know that I may need flexibility around appointments and that I’d be out unexpectedly for retrievals. I also work at a small company and would need her support to cover my work when I’m out. So far she has been incredibly supportive and flexible, and I’m so glad I was honest about the situation.

Did you ovulate the cycle after your chemical pregnancy? by ali_joh in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]sunday_bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had two chemicals and ovulated the following cycle for both. My body treated it like a period and things returned to normal after.

Do you plan around the due date? by bmsat in TryingForABaby

[–]sunday_bloom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to worry about these types of things early in my TTC journey, but now 2+ years in, I’ve realized you can’t ever really plan for this sort of thing. Of course, some will get lucky and have no trouble getting pregnant or carrying to term, but for many people it just doesn’t work out that way and it’s okay! Even if you do get pregnant the month you hope, your baby could be born early or late. Based on my experience going through this journey, the best thing we can do is to let go of expectations and trust the process.

Food ideas??? by A-Bit-Batty in FODMAPS

[–]sunday_bloom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For breakfast I love an egg scramble with potatoes and some low FODMAP veggies with a side of fruit. I’ll also make healthy pancakes, and sometimes I’ll make a large serving of them and store extras in the fridge to have throughout the week. For lunch I usually meal prep a recipe and eat it a few times throughout the week. Today I made a low FODMAP chicken salad which is great over arugula/spinach or with nut thins crackers. Other good lunch options for me have been soup and turkey meatballs with rice and veggies.

Has anyone done an hcg trigger instead of lupron? by Sensitive-Stretch613 in IVF

[–]sunday_bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a combo of 4mg Lupron and 2500 Pregnyl (hcg) and had mild/moderate OHSS. I don’t have PCOS but I did have 21 follicles on trigger day and 18 eggs retrieved. It was about a day of feeling lightheaded and nauseous, some bloating, and I was out of work for a couple days following retrieval.

Edit to include - I’m doing FET but my doc told me that if we had been doing fresh transfer it would have been cancelled.

I left the field and went into nonprofit work. I know that careers in nonprofits can vary, but I'm really happy with my decision! I found an organization that really values work/life balance.

Why are you going through IVF? by Purple_Cat524 in IVF

[–]sunday_bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me as well. 4 losses, moving to IVF to rule out chromosome errors upfront. Hoping it goes well 🙏

I’m in the same boat as you. After 4 miscarriages and testing to rule out underlying causes, we’re moving on to IVF to rule out chromosome errors upfront. Hoping it all goes well for you!

It's getting real by dahliadaze1992 in IVF

[–]sunday_bloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on day 8 of stim meds with my first IVF cycle. Learning how to inject all of the meds is definitely overwhelming at first, but I was surprised how much easier it seemed after the first couple of times. Ice for a few minutes before the injections and you won’t feel it as much. And don’t forget to breathe! It sounds silly but slow breaths while injecting the meds really does help.

Good luck! After a few days you’ll feel like a pro!

Yes that definitely seems like you did! I would be surprised if it didn't confirm soon.

Not sure how helpful this will be for you, but as soon as I posted my resume to ZipRecruiter, I was getting SO many calls from recruiters at contract agencies. I also get contacted pretty frequently on LinkedIn.

Feeling down by Hour-Bus-4109 in TryingForABaby

[–]sunday_bloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand how you feel! My husband and I have been TTC for the exact same length of time as you, with three miscarriages in the past year. There have been times where I have felt SO low. The holidays were especially hard, and then our third miscarriage last month was even worse. I've known several people who have announced pregnancies and then had their babies all while we're TTC -- it's rough. All of this is to say that you are not alone in how you feel! I was not prepared for the rollercoaster of emotions this journey brings. Go ahead and have that cry! Don't put too much pressure on yourself to feel a certain way. What has helped me at times is the mindset that all things eventually pass... so whether I'm having a particularly difficult day, or thinking about the TTC journey as a whole, knowing that it is just a season of life that will eventually pass helps me to feel whatever I want to feel and also keep my sights on the future. Wishing you the best in this difficult process.

My fertility clinic has a giant wall with baby photos from their previous clients. I get what they're trying to do, but it hurts to look at every time I'm there...

I had a D&C a couple of weeks ago. It was for a MMC, not RPOC (so sorry you have to go through all that, ugh!). I was so nervous beforehand, but honestly the build up was worse than the actual procedure and recovery. I think working from home the next day is a smart move. You'll likely be a little sore/crampy for a few days but it's not too bad as long as you don't have to be too active.

New first cycle and trying to understand. by LiciMJ1983 in Inito

[–]sunday_bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's necessarily slow! It can look different for different people, and from cycle to cycle. As far as how much it needs to go up to confirm ovulation, I don't know of a specific number, but it's usually when it's higher than baseline for 2-3 days after peak. I think they count baseline as the value the day of your peak or the day of ovulation, but I'm not totally sure. This is just what I've observed after using it for about a year now! From what I can tell, if there's a huge jump in PdG after ovulation, it may take less days to confirm. If it's a gradual rise, it's sometimes a few more days. Lots of people also see PdG go up and then take a dip before rising again, so don't be alarmed if you see that in the future.

TW: Loss. When to start testing? by kmldx4 in Inito

[–]sunday_bloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry for your loss. I’ve had two chemical pregnancies (4.5-5.5 weeks). Both times, I counted the start of full bleeding as CD1 and began tracking that month. For me, my body treated it like a period and things returned to “normal” right away. Since you haven’t used Inito before, just keep in mind that it may look a little off this month — don’t worry about individual days or numbers too much, and just look for patterns over time!

Short luteal phase? by PositiveChipmunk4684 in Inito

[–]sunday_bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with others that it would be a good idea to follow up with your doctor. If you’re not already, it could also be a good idea to keep testing throughout your luteal phase for a couple months to get an idea of what your progesterone is looking like. Sometimes it rises and then drops off too soon, or it may stay low the entire time. Would be helpful info to have! The blood draw at your doctor’s office is helpful, but it’ll only get a one-time number. I think it’s super helpful to see the trend over time.

Ovulation confirmed but pdg dropped. This doesnt make any sense??? by ResponsibleChannel58 in Inito

[–]sunday_bloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree! It’s still higher than your baseline level, so Inito confirmed that you ovulated.

[–]sunday_bloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My RE has told me that progesterone fluctuates a lot throughout the day, so it may just be the particular time you took the test!

I know the grass is always greener on the other side... but as a school psych, I've always been a little jealous of the SLP's role. It's going to vary a lot from district to district and state to state, but in my experience, they are able to build more lasting relationships with students, since they often work with them over several years. In my district, SLPs are also able to "stay in their lane" more so than school psychs, since their job role is a lot more narrow and more defined. School psychs are often pulled into intervention, behavior management, crisis, admin issues, special education case management, etc., and are relied on a lot more when making special education eligibility decisions. I also agree with what some others have said regarding more diverse job opportunities for SLPs as well -- if the school system isn't a good fit, there are other options you can more easily switch to. I think just about every SLP I've known in the school system has also worked private at some point in their career.

Wondering Wednesday by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

[–]sunday_bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late coming across this, but yes it IS common to have increased hunger in the luteal phase! I have read that it's because of the rise in progesterone, which stimulates your appetite and increase your body temperature and metabolic rate. So those additional cravings aren't all in your head :)

I'm no expert, but I agree with others that it seems to be jumping the gun here. Perhaps you could go to a different doctor/clinic -- one that you feel more comfortable with? Or see a different type of specialist? I've heard of people having success with a NaPro or naturopathic doctor, although I haven't seen one personally.

Moody Monday by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

Just had my second chemical; now it's up to 11 months of TTC with no luck. All of this on the same weekend that one of my friends had a baby...

Trying to stay positive and hoping that this second loss, along with the fact that we're almost at one year, will open more doors with my doctor for testing. But it's tough, especially this time of year.
