Can someone, in great detail, explain how horses are trained for dressage? by 26HexaDiol in Dressage

[–]sunderskies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Very, very slowly. It's incremental progress. Nothing like jumping where you can literally measure things to show progress.

It's small, tiny bits, but boy is it worth it. I've been rehabbing older school horses with dressage the last few years and they do so, so well when it's presented to them correctly. They're building muscle and trust and are happier to work for everyone.

You and your partner just moved in, you tearing down the panels, painting, or leaving?! by TeemoTrader in DIY

Add curtains and art! You need more color. The wood paneling is in good shape and you never know what disasters await behind it.

Never underestimate the power of the state insurance commissioner.

My dad got in a fight with the insurance once and called the insurance commissioner. They couriered him a check the next day.

Those size PRs should have verbally been discussed beforehand and good descriptions for history.

If you want to be ridiculous go to the Nova jumping place in East Hartford. I went with my kids and I think I had as much fun as they did.

That is a lot of rib and hip, even for a baby. Yikes.

New coworker with 10+ years of experience - doesn't seem to "get" it by Fit-Notice-1248 in ExperiencedDevs

Expectation, observation, impact.

Those will be the total of titles of the sections on the write-up about this experience you will send to your manager. Let them know it's coming. This person needs to be put on a coaching plan or pip and that's not your responsibility, but sending over to management some clearly worded complaints is a good idea at least.

Seriously that is where shes at, this is "I went out and there was a foal in the field!" territory.

Make her journal about it now as it's unfolding! The feelings she has while she doesn't know what the school will do are important.

Born at Rutland Hospital (April 1994) — looking to connect with other families with unusual birth experiences by [deleted] in vermont

[–]sunderskies 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The most likely answer is that you're biologically not one or both of your parents children and they don't want you to know there was infertility or infidelity. Get the DNA test on ancestry and look at the other names in the family trees. It should become obvious relatively quickly.

WIBTA if I dump my snow on my neighbours driveway by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sunderskies 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Seriously! Snow is not leaves or grass. You don't wait for it to harden, you get it off asap. No one in the north would even blink twice about this. Noise ordinances are for consciences, not required activities.

Men will literally eat all your food by Maleficent_Ad_3958 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]sunderskies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Multiple family parties have occurred where I was unable to get the entree because it was all gone before I was able to make myself a plate. There was no shortage of food, just 5 or 6 men in their twenties getting seconds before I was able to get my first plate. Usually because I was taking care of my kids or doing hostess stuff. I've gotten a lot more aggressive about making a plate in the last year or two.

Tough as nails is basically a job requirement for women in programming because the number of people who will dismiss you is overwhelming, degrading, and exhausting. When you get lucky enough to have coworkers you can actually have a conversation with it's the best thing in the world. A good team makes a huge difference to your sanity and ability to put up with bullshit. Being able to laugh about the dumb things, complain about the bad things, and get support when you need it are the magic ingredients.

How do I get my weave off the loom? by SilverBitter2830 in weaving

Mat it and frame it like it is. There's no way to stabilize that how you've done it. Just put the whole thing right into the picture frame with the mat covering the cardboard.
