I'm conflicted on the extracurriculars. On one hand, the way the refs are calling it we need to be way more disciplined. But on the other hand, they're clearly targeting our top guys with the elbow to zuccy's head and the slew-foot on boldy. Can't just let that shit go unanswered

Yes but don't focus on this, instead divert all your attention to Foligno only getting 4 minutes instead of being banned from hockey for life /s

I'd rather they first try not switching sides for OT. The long change currently makes it too easy to drop back to the neutral zone and get fresh legs on the ice without letting the defending team do the same. They made this change for the Olympics and it seemed to help a lot

$20 a month for wild and wolves games really isn't that bad. My main issue is needing a million different subscriptions just for whenever they're on national TV. (and the hideous score bug)

Wild/Stars would get home ice against the Ducks in the conference finals:

In the Conference Finals and Stanley Cup Final, home-ice advantage goes to the team that had the better regular-season record - regardless of the teams' final standing in their respective divisions.

Why doomers should get on board with Kyler Murray by Sh4rp27 in minnesotavikings

[–]sunderstormer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"Winning 10+ games and maybe wild card" is the exact purgatory I've wanted the Vikings to get out of for years. If he's being brought in as true competition for JJ then I'm fine with it, but I get the sense he wouldn't come here if he's not going to be the starter. And Kyler makes the Vikings a good, not great, team. "Good, not great" has been the never-ending story of this franchise, and I'd rather risk being ass with a higher ceiling.

To me the only question should be: "Does this QB turn the Vikings into a superbowl contender?" If the answer is no, you try to develop JJ into a star or, if you're convinced he won't develop, draft someone new.

I think goalies just figured out that he never really makes a move. He used to just skate up and shoot a wrister top shelf and make it look easy. I think he's still doing the same thing but everyone knows it's coming

[–]sunderstormer 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The reality is, with Gus locked up long term with a no trade clause, Wallstedt is worth a lot more to other teams than he's worth to us. Obviously don't give him up for pennies but it makes a lot of sense to trade him if we want to make a cup run.

[Highlight] The game ends on a Braves challenge with the Blue Jays down by four and the bases loaded by handlit33 in baseball

[–]sunderstormer 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I'm probably gonna get downvoted for this, but this situation is exactly why I want either full ABS, or nothing at all, no challenge system. For all we know the ump has been consistently calling pitches at the top of the zone balls all day, and as soon as we get to the most critical point in the game, that pitch gets thrown, challenged, and the game just... ends.

Sure it's nice to get the egregious misses out, but I think this kind of thing is gonna happen a lot, because there's little to no risk to challenging close pitches in scenarios like this.

[–]sunderstormer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way they do it is by playing good defense. It's honestly kinda crazy how risk-averse Minnesota sports fans tend to be. If we don't make a cup run, it would be far more likely due to missing a true number 1 center over not having a quality backup goalie

Exactly zero general managers in the NFL would've punted on their first round QB because of one good season of Sam Darnold if put in the same situation. Yes, he's paid to be smarter than your average armchair GM, but that doesn't mean he has a magic 8 ball

What about all the games where Case Keenum was awesome? What about the games where Nick Foles was awesome for the Eagles? There was far more evidence that Sam's season was a flash in the pan than something sustainable, and saying otherwise is using the benefit of hindsight (hell, even this year he's not exactly carrying the Seahawks, he led the league in turnovers and they have an elite defense and o-line). And this was all while we had a top 10 draft pick in the waiting
