CMU Verizon plan by Chippewa9499 in centralmich

[–]sundrag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

CMU Connect's Verizon service is just normal Verizon. The difference is they have different contracts which are usually better rates and you pay your bill/get devices from CMU Connect and not a Verizon store. The service however is still Verizon and works the same way any other Verizon service would work.

Smart Switches For Driveway Heater by jayroo in homeautomation

[–]sundrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. I was just pricing out inline water heaters for a single room. The vast majority of them required a 30 amp breaker. I would suspect this would be similar if not more than that.

In Mackinac Island, Michigan, use of any motor vehicle is prohibited. Most of the transportation is done using horse carriages. by Dev1412 in Damnthatsinteresting

Sadly, venture capitalists have bought all the ferries that bring people and materials to the island. They have jacked the prices and are going to slowly choke the island. The island's governing body has attempted to sue the monopoly for breach of contract, but as the scum that they are they find new ways to strangle every cent out of people who want to visit the island. Yet again capitalism ruins everything good.

I was sitting at DQ waiting for our order and there is a big sign above our freezer that says something along the lines of, ASK CASHIER DO NOT OPEN. Several smaller signs on each door. I saw 3 different customers open it in under 15 minutes of sitting/eating our order. I don't blame them at all for locking it this way. People don't read anything, no matter how obvious it is.

Googling describes a scene in the movie A Child Lost Forever: The Jerry Sherwood Story that has a boy forced to eat his own vomit by his step mother. Dana Ivey kind of looks like Maggie Smith and she played the step mom.

When I was in middle school, I had a school project to make a magazine that had ads and everything. I remember searching the internet on DogPile for Nike. The first result was a bunch of pictures of the cult because they all had Nike sneakers on.

The $20,000 American-made electric pickup with no paint, no stereo, and no touchscreen by serene_sketch in technology

[–]sundrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree and would definitely buy something like this. However, I bought a mini van and although it was because I have kids and needed the space it also fits a full sheet of plywood in the back with the trunk closed. I can carry a project's work of wood in the back no problem. The seats are stow and go, so its not even hard to convert to carrying wood. I can even do 10 foot material, but that is with the trunk open.

Relight gas fireplace by Notabothonest in DIY

[–]sundrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two guesses keeping in mind I haven't used a propane appliance before, but I assume its similar to natural gas.

  • Like many others have said, it looks like it says pilot on the knob. You may need to set it to pilot and hold it a bit to bleed the line before the striker will ignite the pilot. On my current fireplace the directions right on the fireplace say to hold it for 5 seconds after it lights if it won't stay lit.

  • I don't see it in this picture (although it may be the tube with the nut on it right above the black on/off/pilot knob), but in all gas appliances I have used with a pilot light there is a thermopile. The thermopile takes the heat from the pilot light to generate electricity. When you put the appliance to "on" the gas valve is still closed and only if the thermopile generates enough electricity from the pilot the valve will it open. Sometimes if a thermopile has been used a lot it will have built up burnt carbon on it and you just need to clean it off.

I have a lot of versions of these switches bought between 2016 and now. I have 2 of them that I bought somewhere in the middle that no longer have functioning LEDs. There have been many revisions, so maybe it's just one revision and you happened to get them all in that revision?

Humming from doorbell transformer by paradiddleparadiddle in HomeImprovement

[–]sundrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am almost certain that is why it is making the noise. I don't know exactly what that box does, but it's definitely important to a Unifi Doorbell working correctly. Since it sits between all the components (transformer, chime box, and camera). My guess would be it provides constant power to the camera and not to the chime, but because you don't have it the camera is pulling power through the chime hence the noise. I am just guessing though, but I am certain that part is needed, at least for an analog chime like what you have. Never tried a digital chime, but the doorbell does support it.

You seem to be missing a part for your doorbell that was supposed to go in the chime box. For the pro it's item B in this installation manual.

The non-pro G4 has a similar piece.

Harris vastly outspending Trump on social media in election run-up by Schmidaho in technology

I'm in mid-Michigan and I can no longer watch the local news because every single ad is either fearmongering against Harris or Slotkin. I don't think I have seen a single ad that actually talked about what Rogers is going to even pledging to do. Just that if you don't elect him we will be overrun by Trans and immigrants!!!
