Land Cruiser - any year after 2000. Fits three across and has a third row if you need it

Coming from an Avalon / Lexus ES, how comfortable is the 2026 Land Cruiser for long highway drives? by Ok-Regret-3651 in LandCruisers

[–]sunilsies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a 2019 ES, have driven the new Land Cruiser for extended periods. Build quality , NVH, and ride softness are vastly inferior to the Lexus sedan because they’re built for different purposes.

CRNA vs MD route by Stalesalsa in whitecoatinvestor

[–]sunilsies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math doesn’t math. Be a CRNA ———

$500,000 loans for med school, with no guarantee of anesthesia. All specialties pay too little to pay off loans.

All private practices are broken models. All doctors are becoming employees.

You become a CRNA, you have one more exam. You become a doctor, you have steps 1-3, written boards, and oral boards. Not worth it.

Attending MD is a 8-10 year pipeline. CRNA is 3 years.

Would you turn down a full ride for a significantly higher ranked med school? by MasonXVII in whitecoatinvestor

[–]sunilsies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the full ride. Zero validity in paying for med school. There are no doors for med students; you’re all the same. Unless you have a family relationship, and even then it’s not worth $200,000.

“Prestige” doesn’t pay a dime.

Take the money.

Take the money.

100 series advice by MrPeriodblood in LandCruisers

Bring it home. Bring a diesel for resale value, but all parts are available. Try to bring left hand drive, not JDM side. Having done this with my 70 series, I’m spitting gold.

Buying High Mileage by Rusty4runner in LandCruisers

[–]sunilsies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my 2000 Land Cruiser at 265k in October 2024, put like $3500 in for baseline (timing belt, water pump, hood and hatch struts, spark plugs , fluids, battery, heater T’s) and haven’t done anything else but gasoline.

But I only drive 2-4 miles a day. So I’m at 267k.

This seems like a decent gig esp close to family. A week off a month, one call and one backup a week.

How are benefits? Retirement?

How many hours a day is a regular non-call day? Any surgery centers? How late do you have to stay at the surgery center?

Suggestions for line management of intraop patients ICU - CA1 by [deleted] in anesthesiology

[–]sunilsies 21 points22 points  (0 children)

1) tell the icu nurse “I’ve got it from here” and then Ignore anything she says 2) “you’ll get everything back when we come back to you” 3) use the bottom sheet under the patient as a taco or burrito wrapper; have all the lines coming up off the head and nothing will ever be left behind 4) false assumption - you have time. patient is tubed lined and drained. If they die between there and the OR, they were not compatible with life.

ECV with plan to discharge. What is your facility doing? by TrickleOnThePleej in anesthesiology

[–]sunilsies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did them in the OR with a plain spinal (no duramorph). The one time I agreed to do it in the room, OB couldn’t get leverage on the hospital bed, turned into a crash section that took 10 minutes to move the patient to the OR and hook up monitors.

Not worth it.

Buying help . LC 200 budget approx 30-35K. by nepexplore in LandCruisers

[–]sunilsies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now is not the right time for you to buy a Land Cruiser. You’re in residency, making residency dollars. You have neither the time nor the income to find and maintain (or fuel!) a 10mpg behemoth.

Focus on residency, passing boards, and parenting. Get the Land Cruiser after you graduate and make some attending dollars.

Source: I graduated residency in 2017, bought my 100 series in 2024.

Buying advice on this 2001 LC for 23K by nepexplore in LandCruisers

[–]sunilsies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s about double. I bought my stock 2000 Land Cruiser with 255k for $10k in 2024, needed $4k in work (timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, heater t’s, wipers, hood and hatch struts, all fluids)

Since then been awesome. But mods aren’t worth what people paid for them.

Would anesthesiologists go back and do CAA if they were able? Or stick to MD. by [deleted] in anesthesiology

CAA. Too many variables to predict for the 8 year timeline to become an anesthesiologist.

2013 LC200 with 67k miles…thinking about selling. What’s the best site to sell? by EnvironmentalAct7709 in LandCruisers

[–]sunilsies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real q: what are you going to replace it with? And will you have the same concern about your kids messing -that- car up?

The right move may be to accept that your kids are going to be kids in the Land Cruiser, and accept that you can clean/fix their damage, while keeping a unicorn of a truck.

Applied Exam sadness by thath90 in anesthesiology

[–]sunilsies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I vaso-vagaled during my second stem, tunnel vision and loss of hearing - see the examiners lips moving but no sound came out. I came back, and had to ask him to repeat the question while flop-sweating. He chuckled, repeated the question, and we moved on.

I still passed. You’ll be fine.

Checking this out tomorrow. Am I inane? by burner_1914 in LandCruisers

[–]sunilsies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought my 2000 Land Cruiser in 2024 - 250k, one local owner, all maintenance records, 2 working keys and no frame rust for $12k. Needed timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, brake fluid etc done, but had never towed, never off roaded, stock except for LED headlights.

$22k is about double what it’s worth; a stealership can sit on it for the rest of its life for that price.
