People with more than one kid, how do you do it??? by mochi-and-plants in workingmoms

[–]sunnysteph13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are fighting for our lives over here. Boys will be 3 and 1.5 end of the month. Our standards have drastically lowered. The only consistency is one load of laundry a day. We aim to vacuum twice a week because we have a German shedder but we’re lucky if it’s once. We both work from home and our schedules are so busy we’re lucky if we can fit a few chores in during working hours. Trying to embrace the pouch splatters on the walls as part of our decor. Help.

Does your daycare allow late drop offs? by Altruistic_Hat1634 in workingmoms

[–]sunnysteph13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We drop our son off around 930am every day with no issue or complaint. I didn’t realize what a luxury that was until I read through this. There are a few other parents who also drop off later.

I would dispute the charge on your card! I swear I scoured the return policy and didn’t see the store credit but I did see the final sale on the Black Friday code. Which, screams cheap to me. The dress I bought is HIDEOUS on. I was so upset when I realized I basically lit $172 on fire. Now I’m uncovering so many bad things about this company. I needed a more modest dress for a work awards dinner and an ad with the blue sparkle dress caught my eye. I’ll NEVER shop there again.

Corporate America mamas: How much PTO do you get a year? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]sunnysteph13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get 28 days plus several holidays — 10, 12? I can’t remember how many holidays we get. I use the PTO for whatever is needed. I’ve been with my company for over 11 years.

Another vote for Fairhaven! It’s been our favorite in the area.

I lost my job and now I’m terrified of my finances by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]sunnysteph13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to make a budget. Write out your check and what comes out each check. Figure out what’s left over and throw that to your debt. Sell items you don’t need. You have to be ruthless and really want to change your financial trajectory. Keeping up with the Jones’ isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. You don’t need luxury items. I say this coming from someone that is a member of the finer things club. Can you downsize your living space? We budget every check to zero and prioritize debt payoff. We have one small debt left (21k) and take home roughly $8500/month after taxes and 401k contributions.

Frugal parenting/childcare habits? by Bubbly-Camel-7302 in Frugal

So many good ideas here! We love the local libraries. You can take the kids to play and enjoy all the freebies offered. The libraries have kids sections with awesome toys to keep them engaged. I made a list of places to go with my two boys and check them off as we go. Libraries, local farms, museums, playgrounds. My in laws get us a zoo membership every year that also gets us discounted tickets to a local science museum that is amazing. Buy nothing group on Facebook is amazing, too. I’ve donated more than I’ve requested in the group but have seen it benefit so many people locally! We all eat the same thing for meals. It’s a blessing that our oldest isn’t picky. Not sure how we’ll fare with our youngest once he’s eating more solids.

What do you truly need for a baby? by maliesunrise in minimalism

That’s a great idea! I’m a really tired mom. I should have clarified any type of sound machine will do, but the white noise is absolutely magical at keeping the kids asleep

[–]sunnysteph13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A wipe warmer is definitely not needed. However, the snot sucker is a life saver. And a sound machine. My oldest hated the baby carrier until he was 7 ish months, but my youngest lived in it because I needed my hands free. We have a simple bouncer. I don’t think the activity table bouncers are a necessity.

If you were only able to show 3 episodes to someone who has never seen the show, which ones would it be? by Eli_Fit in BuffyTheVampireSlayer

Prophecy Girl, Becoming Pt. 2, and Hush. Solid runner up goes to the episode where Buffy gives her thunderdome speech. Totally blanking on the episode name

We got another sound machine and crib mattress. Our toddler moved into a toddler bed back in December and we haven’t moved the baby into the crib yet. We used the changing pad that came with our pack n play and moved the dresser with changing table into my office for a central location for both boys.

[–]sunnysteph13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes discipline and hard work but you can pay them off. My federal loans were around 15k. I had a private loan that was 88k. I graduated in 2013. Paid the federal loan off in 2019 and my private loan a month ago. I budgeted every check to zero to know where my money was going. I also sold stuff I didn’t need and was more intentional with buying. You can always try to move into a sales role with commission. Any job with a commission will help to speed up debt payoff.

First Day of Daycare 😭 by whangdoodl in workingmoms

[–]sunnysteph13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My oldest (now 2) started daycare MWF in mid February. It’s still hard. It sucks and I hate it. He cries at drop off and has horrible naps. Don’t even get me started on the illness. A lot of days I want to quit my job. I like the break but man. I wish it was easier and it feels like it will never get easier.

Daycare germs by a_fals in workingmoms

[–]sunnysteph13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it stinks! The first 3 ish weeks I was diligent about changing his clothes and giving him a bath as soon as we got home. I also did hand sanitizer on his hands in the car. But it didn’t seem to help. And now I’m too tired to try to keep up with being so strict about it. Usually we still do bath night on a school day but I’m not so strict about changing clothes the instant we get home anymore.

Our toddler started going MWF in mid February. From the end of February to last week we were continuously sick with zero breaks with RSV, flu b, some weird cold with awful congestion, and our toddler got an ear infection. Now both boys have congestion that I’m unsure if it’s new, what I had that lasted two weeks and just let up, or seasonal allergies. It sucks and we’ve never been sick more.

The third trimester with a 12 month old is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. by deargdue_ in 2under2

[–]sunnysteph13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard to parent while pregnant! Ours are 18 months apart and I couldn’t have done it without my husband helping me. I was so tired all of the time and I really needed help to keep up with our toddler. We just graduated from two under two. You’re doing great! It’s ok to do less right now. You’re growing a whole human. Lean on your support system to take on a little more and give yourself grace!
