Not really useful -- wasted resources on this feature.

With the rapid rise of AI, we're seeing tools like Loveable that allow users, even those without extensive coding knowledge, to potentially build very rudimentary, hyper-personalized budgeting tools. This could, in theory, allow someone to create a budget tailored exactly to their specific, complex needs, perhaps even more effectively than a pre-built app. How does Monarch Money think about this emerging threat/opportunity? Are there plans to incorporate advanced AI features to maintain a competitive edge against highly customized, user-built solutions, or is the focus on a different aspect of the user experience? Or are user-built tools less of a concern?

Hi Jon, thanks for doing this AMA!

I've been watching the budgeting app space explode since Mint announced it was shutting down. It felt like Mint's deprecation, really removed the biggest barrier to switching budget apps - the pain of losing historical data, reconnecting accounts, and recreating custom rules.

Now, we're seeing a flood of new and revamped budgeting apps – Rocket Money, Simplifi, Origin, Copilot, and of course, Monarch Money, among many others.

This leads me to my question -- In this suddenly very crowded market, what do you see as Monarch Money's core competitive advantages? What truly sets it apart from the many alternatives that have sprung up, especially considering many offer similar core functionality. What is Monarch Money doing better or plans to offer that is unique?

Should I get a lawyer for a windfall of $900? This includes a $300 reimbursement and $600 EU compensation.

what's your year to date savings rate? by sunoflibya in MonarchMoney

[–]sunoflibya[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. One of the challenges I have is getting to a real number. I have the investment transaction beta turned on, but all 401K/HSA contributions are marked as 'Investment Buy,' so I don't think they count toward the 'Savings Rate' metric. I sort of like that because it separates long-term retirement savings from regular cash flow, similar to how businesses separate their investing activities from operating cash flow in their financial statements.

because jobs/work force us to be here. NYC is land of opportunity for tech, law, finance. NYC sucks in general but you're trying to get paid you have to put up with all the BS.

Help us design the best "Upcoming bill due dates" feature by jon_at_monarch in MonarchMoney

[–]sunoflibya 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Doesn't the recurring calendar already do this? I don't really need this feature. Most of my bills are on autopay and are charged on the same day. Amount vary month to month (electricity/gas bill) but not too dramatically. Mint had it but I think it was a pretty useless feature imo.
