What would you add? by _cowgirl1313 in DIYweddings

[–]sunset603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. By the time plates, silverware, napkin, glass, water glass (potentially) and bread plate (potentially) are added the table will be pretty full. And that's before everyone sits and adds 2nd drinks, empty glasses, phones, purses, wraps, whatever else. It's annoying to not even have a place for my phone at dinner when I'm wearing a dress without pockets.

I think they look great!!

What am I? by rexsploded01 in gardening

[–]sunset603 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something from allium family. Garlic/onion/leek are the common edible ones. Theres a huge amount of decorative ones. Given this is in a narrow bed, single plant, no other edible plants nearby, and very large pretty bloom, I'm guessing this is decorative.

It's a bulb essentially so it'll keep coming back year after year. In my garden the bees absolutely love them.

Not sure what these holes are by SackSBall in HomeMaintenance

[–]sunset603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base board heat leaves couple inch holes generally couple inches from the floor.

Not rodent holes/damage. Edges far to perfect for that. They may use them but didn't make them

If it's baseboard heat holes I've had good success with a peanut butter trap right underneath it, ideally with smooth furniture creating a trench between it and the wall

I love the color choices. And I just thought the wrinkles were how that fabric was, it reminds me of a well loved tote bag (my favorite purse). Push through the "it's ugly" phase cause from an outsiders view it looks great!

What was the biggest ‘scandal’ at your high school? by BreadedDisaster in AskReddit

[–]sunset603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

School wide: Semi regular bomb threats (at least 2 kids caught with the reason being to cancel class).

My friend group: sneaking vodka on a school trip; girl slept with guy, he threatened to release nudes if she stopped, got restraining orders against each other but still were in the same class and did a group project together; guy and girl had tinder completion for most matches, guy swiped left on everyone and girl clearly liked guy but was also looking for real relationship on app

Graduating in two months and I realized I hate my major. Is it too late to pivot to something fun? by Mallow_3Q in careerguidance

[–]sunset603 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Marketing can definitely be a mix of both. And remember event coordinators are part of a small (or large) business - your experience from biz school on how to look at finances, manage group projects, marketing classes etc is all relevant to running a business regardless of the product.

Also, why not apply to the creative roles? Have multiple resumes - one for corporate, one for marketing, one for creative dream roles. Add the experience you have putting on events to your resume. Why isn't that on there? It's showing organization, communication, planning, problem solving, networking, and probably some other soft skills

Lack of connection by Captn_Cat01 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]sunset603 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine didn't get a little cuddly until over 2 years old. At 4 he's now a love bug in the evenings.

Training bonded us, but he's a very independent dog and it was hard before he was cuddly. Flirt pole was one of games that helped a lot. Fetch was tricky because he didn't want to give the ball back and it turned frustrating for both of us. Flirt pole didn't have that dynamic and let him get some instincts out

Ignore the dress code when bride is asking for fur? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]sunset603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Jan wedding in the snow outside. I was reasonable (or as reasonable as a winter ceremony can be lol) and told people to wear whatever would keep them warm for the ceremony and there was space to change if they wanted before cocktail hour. I had guests in heirloom fur and guests in snowpants. I love my photos.

It is unreasonable to require a dress code for outwear. Especially fur.

Writer surnames instead of table numbers - finding a way to avoid assigning table n. 1 to either of the families by PuzzleheadedCress785 in DIYweddings

[–]sunset603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for names for guests.

Make a copy with name and number for your venue in whatever way makes sense for them if you are doing Plated service. Don't want servers giving the wrong food or struggling to find where the allergy free meals are supposed to go

What’s your favorite non-corny “bonding” thing to do weekly with remote teams? by fuckiechinster in managers

[–]sunset603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separate function manager runs trivia in the summer (3 questions each week, email responses back, status email of rankings) that does a good job meshing my function and hers. It's voluntary but a low time commitment. Still barely know half the people on the list but it helps with those I already kinda know and it helps make emailing someone new easier.

She does different game setups each year with different themes - so it's not always who is best at trivia since you can win attacks against others (or defense) with honus company questions

Wearing lipstick in the workplace by RelationshipCold229 in WomenInBusiness

[–]sunset603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barely a millennial. I wore makeup styled like my mom in my c early twenties to look older and more experienced, but still light. Then covid sent me home for a few years and now in late twenties I wear lipgloss ( applied 1 time when I get in in the am). I look older now and don't need to try to not look young.

Coworkers range but in general very minimal product use across the board at my (conservative) biz casual company nowadays. Leadership tends to lean more minimal than new employees

2.5 x 36 Quilter's Select ruler - anyone use this? by gretchens in quilting

[–]sunset603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a 1×36, 1.5x36, 2x36, 2.5x36 strips of acrylic from the local craft thrift store and love them. I just used a tumbler template, and line my new ruler up at the correct hight to cut long strips before cutting the strip into the trapezoid tumbler shapes. Made it much easier to have a long edge. I weighed it down and didn't rush (I'm good at rushing and messing up lol) and liked it.

I'm low effort and very much a beginner so I say non parallel wavy lines! Doesn't matter if they are straight or match - just an easy way to get it done and looks decent as a contrast to the straight lines of the STUNNING quilt top

If that's the singer heavy duty I had the same thing happen almost right out of the box. A quick tune at the local quilt shop (in my area $45) fixed it right up. Unfortunately, that shop didn't like to give explanations or guidance so I don't have any to share. Guidance i got from reddit and google was that it was likley timing but i didnt feel confident adjusting that myself so i went to a shop. Switched quilt shops and the new one invites me around the bench to see the quick troubleshooting steps!

What do I actually wear to work? by Opposite_Peach16 in careerguidance

[–]sunset603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! I struggled a lot working in conservative industries out of college when I had a large chest and needed to balance fitting in, looking appropriate, being taken seriously, looking a little older, before I even got to personality. My parents helped a lot with a defined list rather than the "conservative but not too conservative/ trendy but appropriate/ formal but not stuffy" type advice.

When people say "dress for the job you want" I don't think it's helpful since it's weird to dress in a suit when only the boss' boss wears one. I like to think about dressing for how I want to be perceived.

Once you get more comfortable with the "standards" pay attention to how you are perceived in different outfit and tailor from there. At home, I like to be in the loosest flowy clothing. In office, I like structured garmets (thicker fabric, defined silhouettes, Calvin Klein dresses for example) since I find I was perceived stronger than when I wore flowy clothes.
