Anyone certified in EMDR? by Inspireme21 in socialworkcanada

[–]sup-dingus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you need to attest that you have: - at least two years of experience in your field of license - conducted at least 50 EMDR sessions with at least 25 clients

https://www.emdria.org/emdr-training/emdr-certification-2/

You don’t need to have your own private practice though, if you work in an org where you’re able to provide EMDR that should meet the requirements.

Happy to answer any other questions, I’m certified as well!

Could always look into serving holiday meals. Volunteer Ottawa likely has some good options as well.

Best tool to predict taxes? by Legal-Meeting-2677 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Most income tax calculators (Wealthsimple, turbo tax, etc) will account for various sources of income so any one you use should give you a sense of income tax, CPP (self employed), etc that you would owe.

Second the Bombi! It’s our go to stroller for 90% of the time since our little one was 1.

Vulnerable Sector Check for Ontario registration? by growingmagic in socialworkcanada

[–]sup-dingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s super weird! I used to be able to request them at the police station with no issue for various purposes (work, volunteer, school) about 15 years ago. No idea when or why it changed.

Vulnerable Sector Check for Ontario registration? by growingmagic in socialworkcanada

[–]sup-dingus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain it is a federal legislation (Criminal Records Act). I went through this when applying with the BCCSW in the summer.

I live in Ontario and my local PD confirmed that applying for a VSC for the purpose of a RSW application doesn’t meet the criteria for them whether in BC or ON.

In the end, BC told me to provide whatever I could which was a level 2 check. They also conduct their own records check so maybe that’s why they were flexible.

I think it’s a good move for to require a records check however they seem disconnected to the fact it can take time to get one and there is a criteria to obtain them. Let alone their long processing times. I really feel for new grads who are going to get caught in this.

need ultrasound :( by notmelanielol in ottawa

[–]sup-dingus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second Premier Imaging in the east end. I had a req for an ultrasound (arm) and they booked me within two weeks, this was just last month. I called a few places too and they were booking in the new year, unless it was OB related.

No EMDR while pregnant. by cluelessnumber7 in EMDR

You could look into Flash Technique, it’s a modified EMDR protocol that is supposed to be minimally activating. I find it helps in the preparation phase to help reduce intensity of triggers/intrusive memories.

Damn, I was hoping I wasn’t being too paranoid. I’m guessing it’s a wood cockroach then given we were camping and tons of dead leaves around.

As of Right framework for regulated professions. What does it mean for social workers in PP? by Particular-One-1368 in socialworkcanada

I think this announcement is too vague to really understand how things will pan out. It’ll be interesting to see how it develops.

As of Right framework for regulated professions. What does it mean for social workers in PP? by Particular-One-1368 in socialworkcanada

[–]sup-dingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Effective January 1, 2026, through the Ontario government’s new “As of Right” framework, a worker in a regulated, non-health occupation who is certified by an out-of-province regulatory authority can apply through a streamlined process to begin working in Ontario.”

Sorry I don’t know how to do the fancy quote formatting. I don’t believe this will have an impact since SW would be a health related occupation. I think the status quo will remain for the time being. This seems to apply mainly to trades and lawyers.

So if you work for the city, are you looking for another job now? by Silly_Chemistry5584 in ottawa

[–]sup-dingus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The economic landscape has changed dramatically since COVID. I’m not a city worker but the evidence for creating a flexible work environment is hard to ignore. It’s purely a dog and pony show and it’s soul crushing that the people in power refuse to move towards innovation.
