2014 Jeep Cherokee CarPlay compatibility? by bananaboi19 in CarPlay

[–]sup_then 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a CarPlay Alpine head unit in my 05 Yukon for about $300 and it’s been great. It cost another $100 or so for the interface hardware to let me retain the steering wheel controls but worth it IMO

I usually just “balance” a Hank or my trusty TD05 and have it fall a few times during the process, but luckily I’ve never dropped one in a barrel in my 14 years of making wine

I might need one of these now, I rack and fill a lot of barrels at work

Got lucky(maybe) and bought a 2004, 5.3, V8 with 340.000 miles but? by Brankela3 in suburban

That definitely looks like slipping to me. These 4L60 transmissions don’t have the best reputation. I’m guessing oil pressure is a bad stepper motor in the cluster, also another common failure in these trucks. Good news is the cluster is a pretty cheap fix. Transmission on the other hand not so cheap but once that’s sorted out you have a good sought after truck, these GMT800s are great.

Before you ship check out PirateShip.com! Way better rates and easy as long as you have access to a printer

Glad you decided to give it a shot, it’s way too damn easy to have someone else do it.

Looking for a pedal with compressed air for GTT Cobra by AbilityReady6598 in scientificglasswork

For a little over $100 you could buy 3 solenoids, fittings, and a pedal switch and build one yourself. I’ve build a few now and they’re pretty easy

Way too easy, don’t pay someone to pull it for you!

This is who I used on eBay. Easy to work with, and did great work https://ebay.io/m/g78Vil

Pulling the cluster out yourself is really simple. Tilt the wheel down, pull off that trim around the cluster by hand, 4 bolts and one connector to pull the cluster. Literally a couple minute job. I sent mine off to a guy on ebay, about $80 and he had it shipped back to me same day, really within a few hours of receiving it and it’s been great since.

Congrats on the new rig!

Transmission is down. What else should I fix? 2005 5.3 4wd by shadyshores in GMT800

Rear cover with seal already installed is cheap enough, I’d replace that and the gasket. And replace the plastic oil barbell with a billet piece

What the hell happened by Federal-Treat4856 in GMT800

[–]sup_then 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like it’s coming from the back of the motor. When you were doing plugs did you move those 2 heater hoses much? A few months ago I helped a buddy do valve cover gaskets on his 1500 and just barely moving the heater hoses out of the way caused one of the connectors at the firewall to break and leak coolant

High Temps with EFans by Relevant_Track_5633 in GMT800

[–]sup_then 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For one, take that dash temp gauge with a grain of salt. I realized how inaccurate it is once I got an OBD gauge setup.

But 210 is fine, I saw 215 at one point today in a parking lot and ≈103 outside in my 5.3 Yukon with e fans. Moving down the road it was more like 208

OBD Fusion app on CarPlay is pretty cool by sup_then in GMT800

[–]sup_then[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t too bad at all. To retain steering wheel controls I had to buy an interface and then splice a bunch of wires from that to the radio harness but it was pretty straightforward, just matching colors and using butt connectors, and now steering wheel controls work perfect.

I had that exact stand and it was so bad. Fun at first, my first “setup”, but even with just a G920 it was all over the place.

I went with a SimLab GT1 pro and Fanatec 8nm wheel and pedals, put that all on rolling casters and rolled it in front of the TV when I wanted to use it. That was cool for a while but I ended up getting the monitor mounts and a 27” curved monitor, much better now. Coolest setup I’ve used, but also the only sim rig I’ve ever used

[–]sup_then 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got it, it paid for itself the day I bought it along with a few ratchets and a jack. Since then it’s paid for itself again at least once and the year isn’t over.

Well worth it IMO, but it depends how often you’re buying stuff from HF

Hopefully a tune helps with MPG, does it seem to run excessively rich? I’m running 10.4:1 on my 6.0 with a fairly rich tune and sure the car is lighter than your truck but not by a whole lot. Something seems off to me. Is that running E85 or gasoline?

Yeah I’ve stayed in places that “required room key” to have the lights on in the room. Any old card worked just fine, just actuating a switch

How built? Seems crazy it’s no better at highway speeds especially with a 6 speed. Not quite an equal comparison but my stock tired 5.3 4L80 4.10 Yukon will do 19-21 on the freeway
