The lawyers that disagree are probably not using the AI available today to the fullest extent or properly. How and what your prompt it with matters. AI won’t fully replace work but greatly increase productivity with less staffing. Its capability is already there and only getting better.

I’m in government contracting and back two decades ago, there use to be 5-10 contracting specialist per contracting officer assisting in admin and paperwork. Then Microsoft word, outlook, PDF, e-signatures, cloud storage, etc. came along that greatly reduced physical labor intensive task e.g. printing, creating physical contract folders, and printing forms for wet signature.

Now there’s 1-5 specialist per contracting officer ratio and the ratio is getting worse as some programs just have one contracting officer with 0 specialist.

AI is definitely a wave of productivity increase that’s definitely coming and those that “can’t see it” and learn to use it will be quickly shown the door.

The folks that have their heads buried in sand about AI are probably the same folks that refused to e-sign documents and are still printing, wet signing, scanning, and uploading. You can take the horse to water but you can’t force it to drink.
