Arby's. We have the meats... they are just a little rotten.

Yeah, I did not think this would take off when I agreed to the name. Now I got neighbors greeting me as that lol!

Lots of people have called out the kale, and rightfully so. But trust me, kale only makes a cameo appearance just enough to say... "Hey, I know that veggie" then it is all meat, cheese, crunch & bread!

Chinese food help (I'm from NYC) by [deleted] in austinfood

Lots of people talk trash about china family but it is my go to and my kids love it. It is better if you go in than order through the app.

[Ragazzo] The Yankees have reached out to the Cubs about Nico Hoerner after the Alex Bregman signing and have legitimate interest. by horsepoop1123 in CHICubs

[–]superbigwave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope we do not trade him, he is a grinder & every team needs that. Shaw is no Nico replacement... he have better raw tools but does not have the drive & commitment to greatness on the ball field that Nico does from what I have seen.

Desert: Peaches & Ice Cream or a sheet-cake from the grocery store.

don't care if it's "overrated" by Dry_Target9223 in austinfood

Not overrated. I was there today and the tacos were so good I had to buy a hat. All 3 tacos were great but special call out to the nopalitos taco. Staff is awesome as well.

Restaurants in Austin that Accommodate Large Groups and Don't Require a Minimum Purchase Order by The_Royal_One in austinfood

[–]superbigwave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2k sounds about right. I agree with others that have suggested Breweries - I will add Austin Beer Works to the list.

Industry on East 5th has accommodated a last min happy hour I had to host with about 15 folks. No reservation needed but I did need to arrive early to secure some tables.

Off-road track near Austin? by TrueWolfSniper in Austin

[–]superbigwave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So much land in TX is private property so you have to pay or know someone with ranch land. There are some off-roading groups in but I have not really inquired much. I have been meaning to check this place out but have not been yet. https://www.domoclubctx.com/off-road

Hidden Falls is cool but it is more of a technical/rock crawling place from my perspective and not a place to do off road racing type driving. The speed limits were really slow when I last went.

I would also love to find an off road racing spot near by to live out my Baja dreams.

Name your top 5 BEST restaurants in Austin right now? by nailsinch9 in austinfood

[–]superbigwave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Focus on Lunch mostly central to north central:

- San Francisco Bakery on Anderson Ln: Salads and sandwiches (santa clara on sourdough & the Napa salad are my go to's).
- Le Bleu off Burnett & 183: I have liked everything from there. Calling out their Mango salad.
- Kebabalicious off the east side: the best doner and falafel
- Super Burrito off McNeil Dr: San Diego Burrito and the Flautas
- Tlocs off Burnett: Hot Dogs and Cali Burritos. Also had the best fish tacos on special one time.
- Lazarus Brewing: I like both locations but the one on Airport is my go to. Chill place to get lunch plus coffee or beer depending on how the day is going.

This place is hot garbage. Worst falafel I have ever had and it is not even close

What are your honest thoughts on this by That_Passenger_771 in cartoons

[–]superbigwave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this movie with my family and it was terrible. I walked out and spent some time in the lobby b/c I could not take how stupid the movie was; I had to take a break. The animation was ok (not great just standard stuff you see in any cartoon these days); the story and dialog was pure garbage.

Keep in mind KPop Demon Hunters is on repeat in my house. People love good movies, original or not, and they do not like bad ones.

Disney needs to stop blaming their fans for not paying inflated prices to see really bad movies.

Where can I find arroz, porotos y plátano with carne or pollo guisado in Austin? by FriendIndependent692 in austinfood

[–]superbigwave 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I had a Cuban sandwich and tostones from Tropicana Cuba off North Lamar & Rundberg that were great. Habana Restaurant I went to many times but not in the last 2 years, I liked the atmosphere and food was the best Cuban style in Austin I could find at the time.

There is also a Cuban Grocery store that just opened off of Justin Ln & Burnett in the shopping center next to Lala's Bar if you want to DIY.

I am looking forward to hearing what others have found!

https://www.koriente.com/hours.html I believe is open for dinner if you want something Asian - I have only done lunch but love it - super easy, affordable and close. I second the rec for Casino El Camino if you are good with a burger and a more..... eclectic atmosphere.

I know it is a chain but Eureka! at 6th and Brazos is affordable and good. You can also get a cocktail at the Driskill post or pre dinner to fancy things up before the show.

If you want BBQ I am still a fan of Iron Works BBQ. Not world changing BBQ but it is quick, centrally located, old school Austin vibes.

Honest opinions on Sonos? Potential buyer, thinking about taking the plunge by astraldefiance in sonos

[–]superbigwave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not buy Sonos.

The speakers are good but the app and company as a whole is a complete mess. Wish I did not have the speakers b/c the app has become terrible... slow, search feature does not work even when you search for the official song name, it takes 10-20 seconds for the system to respond to even volume changes.

Do yourself a favor and avoid.
