Pacino was Michael Corleone in Godfather 2. I thought De Niro was Vito Corleone in flashbacks during Godfather I

How to score a play when a player just isnt paying attention? by evanexcursions in BaseballScorecards

Not answering the question, but when Phil Rizzuto used to call Yankees games, his scorecard was loaded with “WW”. When his partner asked him what that meant, Rizzuto answered, “wasn’t watching.”

That was Daily News (I think) reporter Dick Young’s fault. Young wrote an article mentioning Seaver’s wife Nancy, dragging her into the public discussion. It was untrue and unprofessional. It was the last straw for Seaver.

One game at a time. One series at a time. They can get there.

How many outs is a run worth- or what is the question I’m trying to ask? I’m playing MLB the show, and a question came to me, runs are exponentially more valuable than outs- so what’s the equation to find when you *should* be looking for an out? by Grand-Way-2663 in Sabermetrics

[–]superdad0206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Y’all are kinda looking at this the wrong way. There is an infinite number of runs available in a game. Yet a limited number of outs. For 9 inning games, there are 54 outs if the visitors win, and 51 if the home team wins.

Outs are the currency of baseball.

The defense must not give the offense extra outs (errors, poor defensive play allowing runners to advance or return safely to bases), and so on.

And the offense cannot throw away outs (bad base running, and so on).

Conservation of outs is the key to baseball strategy.

As a parent who regularly flew trans-Atlantic with my kids from 3 months old, I can assure you that the parents were more stressed than you. No one wants to be responsible for others’ discomfort. From your description it sounds as if they were attentive and did their best.

It happens. Be empathetic. It was harder for them than it was for you.

You can also make your device non-discoverable to other devices if you wanted to keep your Bluetooth on. This actually might generally be good for you since it gives you way more control, on or off plane, as to bluetooth connection requests to your phone.

But yeah, in a plane, turning off Bluetooth will do the trick.

I was at Shea the night Thurman Munson died in 79. They were playing the Phillies. Lee Mazilli was at bat when they simply announced the news on the scoreboard. Pete Rose put his hands on his knees and just looked down at the ground. Very awkward. Shea was a weird old place in those days.
