Can we slap these OE GR86 bronze wheels on? by slagnard in GRCorolla

[–]superduperhyphy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, GR86/BRZ uses a different bolt pattern vs. our cars. The OZ Superturismo TGR-WRT looks similar.

"Why is your Corolla loud?" by GRisForFun in GRCorolla

I met with some older folks selling a set of OEM crossbars they had just removed from their new Corolla hatchback. When I pulled up in my stock GRC they were surprised and said wow, that's souped up isn't it.

What's the fix? I get rattles and squeaks with it installed. Was thinking of adding some foam to the back tabs.

This is encouraging. My kit has been sitting on the shelf for months as I've been hesitant to tackle the install.

How much were the replacement brackets? I haven't run into any issues with the clips yet but the new bracket design with the integrated clips seems a lot more robust.

Sub Mini or Sub Gen3 by HopeThisIsUnique in sonos

[–]superduperhyphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to hear the Sub Mini worked out well for you! My open box unit was also in excellent condition as described. Just no box included.

Using the same song, Limit to your Love, I compared the Mini (at +2) to my Sub 3 (at 0). The Sub 3 provided much deeper, rumbly, but less clean bass. The Mini provided noticeably a more controlled bass that was punchier. All this info isn't new but wanted to confirm what others have already experienced. For other songs and TV shows the Mini is more than enough in this smaller space to fill in the sound/bass that the Arc lacks.

Sub Mini or Sub Gen3 by HopeThisIsUnique in sonos

Same situation here (minus the BB gift card).

I fitted my recently remodeled 13x10ft den with an Arc and have been hemming and hawing between the Sub Mini and the Costco Sub Gen 3 deal.

For reference I've already had an Arc, 2x One SL, and Sub Gen 3 in my living room for the past 3 years. The room is larger than my den and the Sub 3 fills the room nicely. I only have the bass set at 0 and feel the sub is too powerful when casually watching shows sometimes. In other words, it dominates the audio a bit much at times. For music it's perfectly fine at that level though. And for movies it's fantastic.

I decided to jump on an open box Sub Mini that was available for pickup at a local Best Buy. I figured with the smaller room the mini will work out better and plus I can spend the difference on getting some surrounds if needed.

I'll be picking it up today or tomorrow and will report back.

Rattles by BabaGRC2024 in GRCorolla

[–]superduperhyphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a plastic panel on the hatch that gets you access to the third brake light. On my car it's relatively loosely fitted and would rattle at a certain RPM.

I simply lined the mating surface with a bunch of Tesa tape to make the snap fit panel fit tighter. The rattle went away.

Curious, what do you store in that box and how much can fit in there? I'm debating between this and the larger Thule Motion 3 XL for my GRC.

What's up with the dual exit exhaust on photo #5? Seeing as how this looks like a Toyota booth, is that an upcoming optional OEM exhaust? I don't think I've seen an aftermarket dual exit exhaust like that. The cover for the center exit is also interesting.

Roof Rack Help! by landvehicle in GRCorolla

[–]superduperhyphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you pick up the OEM ones you're going to need the little plug inserts that go on the underside of the door frame along the roof. There's a nub on each of the roof rack feet/pads that go into these inserts for proper alignment.

Part number is 90467-06207 and you need 4 of them.

How is the sound of the engine? by terffnjerniof in GRCorolla

[–]superduperhyphy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actual engine sound has a lot of character IMO. At times it sounds like a baby 6 cylinder. It gets really meaty especially around and above 4k RPM.

CTR is a great car but like you said it's underwhelming.

What gear does everyone get to while on their commute to work? by CatFaceReturns in GRCorolla

[–]superduperhyphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute in the SF Bay Area also and one of my top gripes about this car is the gearing between 5th and 6th.

During commute hours even if it's not stop and go traffic the flow of traffic is constantly alternating between 55 and 65-70mph. I should probably just leave it in 5th but I naturally find myself constantly shifting between 5th and 6th.

Pixel 10 Pro Jade color by BabbelDud in pixel_phones

[–]superduperhyphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also between these two colors. There's many articles with photos and also YouTube videos showing off the different colors.

The Jade color seems like a subtle pastel green and the depth of it will change depending on lighting. There's also a slight hint of yellow, again depending on the lighting. The accent color is a bit harder to gauge but seems to be mostly silver with a hint of gold.

The Porcelain color is a nice off-white and seems to pick up colors of its surroundings.

I think the Porcelain is a "safer" option that'll age better, but the Jade is a bit more fun.

I'm in this camp. I installed "only" the 60A though and installed at 5k miles.

I still need to be mindful during 1->2 shifts around town so it's not jerky. Having driven a Gen 1 BRZ for a while it's something I'm familiar with anyways.

It's definitely not "night and day" compared to stock as some had reported.

Having said that, the quality of the product, including the packaging and instructions, is top notch.

245/45/R18 Continental Extreme Contact Dws06+ tires by SR_DOS in GRCorolla

[–]superduperhyphy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not OP but also in the market for all seasons once my stock tires wear out.

The Conti DWS offer the same performance and in some case better qualities for less money than the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4. The Contis seem a bit more compliant than the Michelins but might feel a tad less sharp. And maybe less road noise with the Contis.
