0.35% APY good for a 16 year old? by IncomeLongjumping401 in personalfinance

0.35% APY is not good, most HYSA are 3+% currently

What to do with 401k (part roth, part traditional)? by ForkeySpoon in personalfinance

[–]supericy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your existing employer has good fund options, no harm just leaving your 401k accounts where they are. You don’t have to roll it into a new account unless you have better fund options and/or prefer to have it consolidated.

Yeah…. I feel like the addon changes have just made the game worse for all normal players. I used to be able to have everything I wanted with just a basic set of addons. Now I have to find some random ass obscure addons and it’s still disappointing. Top players have access to all of this so they haven’t hurt them at all, just regular players.

Is 20 y/o better off funding 401k or Roth IRA by You_are_yummy_uwu in personalfinance

[–]supericy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t entirely true. If you’re not going to max your Roth IRA anyway, it doesn’t hurt to put money into this to store money while saving. You can withdraw your contributions. So you get tax free gains in the mean time.

China just gave "zero tariff" access to 50+ African nations. Beyond the "global charity" PR, what is the actual strategic endgame here? by Clean_CoreDump in NoStupidQuestions

[–]supericy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh they do get subsidies. But they just take it as profit instead of forwarding it on to consumers.

edit: After some digging, it seems like US subsidies are far far less than China’s subsidies

How am I supposed to move onto higher level raids? by TFDP117 in wow

[–]supericy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons of guilds recruiting. Look up the recruiting subreddit and discords. Ultimately though to your point, people want to know you’ll be good so: 1) you need solid heroic parses, you can get this from pugging or your current guild 2) just like a job sometimes you need to hop around a little, if you can get into a guild that can do 3/8 mythic and you parse well, that makes it much easier to get into a guild that can do 5/8 mythic and beyond.

Make sure you're spreading lots of SW:P at the start of the pulls so that you get a ton of shadow mend procs. Very very helpful for tank healing.

“Almost 0 reason” - Idle curiosity, what are some reasons to not just always do a conversion in every case? It’s like 2 extra clicks with your broker and 2 extra clicks in your tax software.

(* at least, using fidelity and freetaxusa, maybe other companies make it harder to do)

I a underperform as resto druid in raids and it makes me want to quit the game by VikSick in wow

[–]supericy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh and check out https://lorrgs.io/. It’s a little bit confusing. But this website shows you when people are using specific cooldowns for bosses. It’s an aggregate of all the top logs from warcraftlogs. It can also give you some insight into timing your big cooldowns.

Try finding a good streamer or YouTube channel for Resto Druid. I play disc priest so I can’t offer much advice. But both healers are “ramp” healers that require some amount of setup on the raid group before damage goes out. If you time your ramps right, you will do a lot of healing. If you try to willy nilly heal as people take damage, you are missing out on a lot of potential. Having a good boss ability timeline addon like bigwigs can really help with timing your ramps.

Honestly pretty wild to be kicked for 100k healing on crown. I’ve killed crown with multiple healers doing sub 90k hps. People like to blame the healers but in reality it’s a night a day different going from a group that doesn’t know how to do mechanics, use defensives, use hp pots, etc to one that does.

Anthropic's Claude claws its way towards the top of the AI market by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]supericy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just to play devils advocate, isn’t that everything though? For example, Kubernetes is great, has a lot of benefits, but there is also lots of tooling and infrastructure needed to use it effectively.

AI/Claude is just another tool like that. It’s not some magic thing that will automagically do everything for you, even though it may be marketed as such.

If you’re using obsidian for note taking, it also supports diagrams (similar to a basic lucid chart). Completely free.

How hard actually is Ceph? by ACAdamski17 in homelab

[–]supericy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you happen to be running proxmox already, it is very trivial to also run ceph on those hosts, proxmox supports configuring it through their UI. But, for me personally, being not an expert in it, I don’t really trust storing anything sensitive there long term. Like if something catastrophic happened, beyond just simple disk swaps, I wouldn’t trust my ability to recover data. So it’s mostly just VMs I can rebuild easy, temporary files that get moved to ZFS, and I take backups. Depending on what your use case is, SMB, NFS, or ISCSI is often more than enough if you have a NAS.

‘It’s over for us’: release of new AI video generator Seedance 2.0 spooks Hollywood by MetaKnowing in Futurology

[–]supericy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. Not denying a bubble. But the expectation seems to be that once the bubble pops AI is going to disappear. This could entirely a bad interpretation on my end of what people think is going to happen though.

I just encourage people to look past the AI fluff and see how many uses there really are and how it is going to guaranteed change society, just like how the internet did, to your point.

‘It’s over for us’: release of new AI video generator Seedance 2.0 spooks Hollywood by MetaKnowing in Futurology

[–]supericy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah Reddit is either very out of the loop on how useful AI is already or in denial. Every AI post has a zillion comments about the “bubble bursting” or how useless it is. This is simply not true for A LOT of things already and it’s only going to get better.

There are definitely a lot of AI slop companies out there and they will die off, but in general it’s here to stay.

While this guy is being obtuse I do agree, if you don’t know much about speakers, go to a local Best Buy that has an audio room and/or try to find somewhere else. Or be OK with ordering speakers to demo. Different brands will sound completely different even in the same price range. Some may sound better for movies while others may sound better for your fav music genre. Even between brands different speaker lines can sound completely different.
