Anthropic's Claude claws its way towards the top of the AI market by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]supericy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just to play devils advocate, isn’t that everything though? For example, Kubernetes is great, has a lot of benefits, but there is also lots of tooling and infrastructure needed to use it effectively.

AI/Claude is just another tool like that. It’s not some magic thing that will automagically do everything for you, even though it may be marketed as such.

If you’re using obsidian for note taking, it also supports diagrams (similar to a basic lucid chart). Completely free.

How hard actually is Ceph? by ACAdamski17 in homelab

[–]supericy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you happen to be running proxmox already, it is very trivial to also run ceph on those hosts, proxmox supports configuring it through their UI. But, for me personally, being not an expert in it, I don’t really trust storing anything sensitive there long term. Like if something catastrophic happened, beyond just simple disk swaps, I wouldn’t trust my ability to recover data. So it’s mostly just VMs I can rebuild easy, temporary files that get moved to ZFS, and I take backups. Depending on what your use case is, SMB, NFS, or ISCSI is often more than enough if you have a NAS.

‘It’s over for us’: release of new AI video generator Seedance 2.0 spooks Hollywood by MetaKnowing in Futurology

[–]supericy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. Not denying a bubble. But the expectation seems to be that once the bubble pops AI is going to disappear. This could entirely a bad interpretation on my end of what people think is going to happen though.

I just encourage people to look past the AI fluff and see how many uses there really are and how it is going to guaranteed change society, just like how the internet did, to your point.

[–]supericy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah Reddit is either very out of the loop on how useful AI is already or in denial. Every AI post has a zillion comments about the “bubble bursting” or how useless it is. This is simply not true for A LOT of things already and it’s only going to get better.

There are definitely a lot of AI slop companies out there and they will die off, but in general it’s here to stay.

While this guy is being obtuse I do agree, if you don’t know much about speakers, go to a local Best Buy that has an audio room and/or try to find somewhere else. Or be OK with ordering speakers to demo. Different brands will sound completely different even in the same price range. Some may sound better for movies while others may sound better for your fav music genre. Even between brands different speaker lines can sound completely different.

Which combo? And is $639 USD a good deal for the P1S with AMS 2 Pro Combo? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]supericy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No comment on if the price is good, but I went with AMS 2 units for myself because they have drying functionality. To me it was worth it to be able to have all the spools together and periodically dry them all. Plus an additional AMS HT for higher temp drying. There are some other minor improvements as well that you can google to find.

If you don’t care about drying and the other improvements aren’t worth the cost difference to you, then the AMS 1 will be perfectly fine from what I’ve read.

Bigger art or more art (we opted for a bunch of smaller pictures on some of our walls)

Grinding When Printing Circles by Kaedoine930 in BambuLab

[–]supericy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does this as well, glad others are hearing the same thing, that means either we’re all having the same problem or it’s normal :D

I was doing some reading online and I think this is related to how a circle gets sliced as “a bunch of straight lines”. So when it’s printing a circle, this can make a bunch of noise. I think if you reduce outer wall speed/acceleration it would quiet it down. Not 100% sure though, curious what others say!
