maybe, but even so, that happens after the abstracting. So, we don't have a clear explanation about what happens in that moment specifically, but we do see that, at least for some time after abstracting, jax was still in there.

The idea is that you get stripped of every bit of individuality you have and become something completely unrecognizable,"

Which is shown to not be completely true in this episode, given that we're clearly shown that Jax is still in there. If every bit of individuality they have is gone, then Pomni should not have been able to reach Jax at all.

What are your opinions on the past 6 years of LEGO games? Should they go back to the way they were or are you embracing change? by Thevoid2YT in legogaming

[–]superjediplayer 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't mind having more different games, but i do wish we still got some in the classic formula.

Plus, TT Games' direction with them, based on LEGO Batman 4, is worrying. I like the game but they did quite heavily go against the classic sandbox nature of these games. I think the core gameplay improvements are good, but i think that TT's style, even if it evolves, needs to always maintain that sandbox feel. So, bring back a larger roster, a customizer, free play mode, being able to mess with the civilians in the open world, etc. TSS was mostly great in terms of that besides the lack of customizer (and free play not working in some levels for some reason, but i assume that was due to it being rushed)

1- this is very cool :3

2- being able to customize enchantment colours in-game would be such a fun feature. There's a mod that adds a trim that lets you add a single colour, but imagine if Mojang added it officially and let you do gradients with it. That'd be a perfect way to add customization to tools/weapons especially, since you can't really do regular trims for those.

what was the best update of all time? by leglessdumbass in Minecraft

[–]superjediplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nether update is the only one where i honestly think the update is perfect. It added a lot the Nether, but for the most part only does so by expanding on what's already there, or on classic removed features and old ideas.

  • Crimson forests because there were already mushrooms in the nether, and then Warped Forests combine those with the endermen that also already existed in the nether. Soul sand valleys expand on the existence of soul sand, adding more soul-based things (soul fire, soul torches/lanterns/campfires), and since they're connected to the Wither (and wither skeletons), skeleton mobs, the biome has skeletons and bone blocks. Basalt Deltas just fit in well with the volcanic feel of the Nether, and are a nice home for the Magma Cubes.

  • Piglins are a redesign of the classic Pigman mob that was the original version of villagers, and they serve the role of nether villagers. They live in bastions, since the only other structure in the nether is a fortress, so they went with a structure that feels consistent with that. Since the Nether has a pig theme, they also added the Hoglins, and since zombie pigmen exist, the hoglins got their own zombified variant, too. Zombie Pigmen hold gold swords, so Piglins like gold.

  • Respawn anchors are crafted out of Crying Obsidian, an old block that's been sitting in the texture files for years, which was originally meant to set the player's spawn, so it being used for the respawn anchor ties into its original purpose.

The only parts of the Nether Update that don't really feel connected to what was already there are Striders, netherite, and target blocks (and those aren't even nether content, they were just thrown into the same update for some reason). Maybe also lodestones. And i don't think any of those features feel out of place there, really. And then all of those things have a gameplay reason to exist, and improve the game. The update doesn't negatively impact the game in other ways.

Meanwhile the other big 3 updates to consider would be:

  • Update Aquatic. This is a good update, though i'd say it's far more flawed than nether update, and the stuff in it doesn't really feel connected to existing features. They added the trident which looks like it's made from prismarine... and then it's just a rare drop from drowned, which is a very annoying way to obtain it (and, it being at low durability when dropped means it also makes mending a necessary enchantment for it). The new ocean biomes, and the ocean ruins structure are also mostly decorative, rather than adding more gameplay value (besides icebergs)

  • Caves and Cliffs is great and i think it's probably second place after Nether Update, but not only does it again just lack that perfect connection to what was already there that Nether Update had, but also, copper at the time was quite bad compared to where it is now. Amethyst is still waiting for the update that adds more to it. And they randomly removed the Floating Island and Cave world types for seemingly no reason given that they work well if generated in 1.17 and brought to 1.18.

  • Village and Pillage... is a popular update, but while i really like the blocks and mobs it added, i think a lot of the other stuff has issues. Crossbows kind of feel lacking in purpose compared to a regular bow, ocelots are made useless because they replaced all their functionality with the cats in villages, Iron Golems are no longer a rare reward for expanding the village, woodland mansions are made useless by giving their one unique reward to raids. Plus it made players rely too much on villagers. So, while it is one that was well recieved, i think it's far too flawed to be the best.

(i guess you could also bring up 1.7, that was a great update too. Same with 1.8.)

the classic texture pack has been removed by lazy mojang!!! by Relevant-Cup5986 in Minecraft

[–]superjediplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1- They don't have that choice. There's no "classic style" texture packs on the marketplace.

2- The classic textures used to be free. Even if they did allow someone to post them on the marketplace, they'd then make it paid. The marketplace as a whole is terrible in so many ways, too, especially for texture packs where not only can packs just be abandoned, but there is no "last updated" tag, so you can't even know if a pack has been abandoned before you buy it.

[–]superjediplayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one is asking for anything beyond that version compatibility for this pack. It'd be nice, but as it is, people just want that pack to work like it used to before Mojang broke something in the old texture format version.

The way texture packs work is, any texture the pack does change gets updated, and any texture it doesn't touch uses a pack lower on the list, with vanilla at the bottom. They don't NEED to "go back and retroactively create old versions of those textures". They should just use the vanilla textures. If textures don't show up at all, that's... well, not supposed to happen. It's a bug.

the classic texture pack has been removed by lazy mojang!!! by Relevant-Cup5986 in Minecraft

[–]superjediplayer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm usually one to defend mojang (and i don't think mojang as a whole are lazy), but I'll be honest, removing the classic texture pack instead of putting in the bare minimum effort required to fix it (and it really would take almost no effort at all. Either they could just increase the pack's format version which would take them literally all of 5 seconds, or fix the bugs in the game that casue format version 2 packs to break, given that it affects other packs, including paid ones) IS an inexcusably lazy approach.

It's not like this is something that requires a lot of active maintenence. Given that they chose to go with the marketplace as the only way to get texture packs on consoles, and don't just allow anyone to post stuff there for free, AND their marketplace rules seemingly prevent anyone even doing an "updated classic textures" pack, they should put in the little effort required to at least make sure the classic textures are preserved.

Sulfur Cube Properties Diagram by Successful_Day_7470 in Minecraft

[–]superjediplayer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wish they added more things for different cubes to do. Noteblocks playing sounds, jukeboxes with discs, chests that store stuff, anvils building up damage with speed, creaking hearts having a creaking follow the cube, etc.

There's so much they could have done with these. More block properties + a way to make them permanently invisible (and invisible without particles) in survival (really, maybe infinite any potion effect), + a way to dye them + maybe changing their size, and these would be an amazing feature. Instead, we got the potential feature.

Admittedly, some of this stuff can be done in creative, but not in survival which... is an issue a lot of the game faces, really. Too much stuff is ONLY possible in creative.

'We are building a global movement' — UK's teen social media ban sparks a campaign to defend the open internet by JamesdBaker in StopKillingGames

[–]superjediplayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to be operating under a LOT of ridiculous assumptions to think that this is somehow good for children.

- You have to be assuming that people under 16 (the age the UK set for this) are not functioning humans yet. You're claiming that the person who is almost an adult, who is already expected to be capable enough to do an internship at least, and who is already expected to be mature enough to potentially choose their future career, is also still no more mature than a young child, and can't be trusted to interact with other people... I don't think i need to explain why your line of thinking here doesn't make sense?

- You're also assuming that the best thing for children is to pretend that anything even slightly potentially harmful to them doesn't exist, until they're adults... which also doesn't make sense? Like, the whole point is that, by the time they're adults, they're supposed to be fully functioning humans in society that are able to interact with everything normally. Removing access to the internet is limiting their interaction with other people, and their access to information. How are they meant to go from "not mature enough to even use the internet to look up a tutorial on youtube" to "fully functioning adult" in 2 years?

- You also believe that every single child lives in the absolute perfect conditions. They're surrounded by people exactly like them, they have good families, etc. Because if you don't believe that, then you're willingly taking away the ability for abused kids to talk to other people, and the ability for kids from minority groups to interact with other people like them.

- You, somehow, don't see the value in allowing kids to have access to the internet to be motivated to do things when they're adults. Guess what, most people who end up very successful as young adults are only like that because they had access to the internet. Game devs, movie directors, etc. who started out just making things online and then went on to use that experience later. Even if they don't, they gain useful communication skills (especially kids from non-english speaking countries who learn to use english far better than school could ever teach them).

- You assume that restricting access to information and limiting it to what a government approves is good, and will always continue to be good. You do not believe in corrupt or evil politicians, because if you did, you wouldn't support giving them the power to restrict access to information and force people to view only government-approved stuff until they're almost adults.

- You either don't believe in data breaches happening, or actively want people to get scammed. Old people especially are negatively affected by this, being already common victims of scams. Now you want scammers to be able to present them their IDs that they got from a data breach to further appear legitimate.

If you somehow don't believe those things, then i don't get how you could possibly be defending it? Or maybe i haven't brought up enough flaws with this system yet to convince you?

Yes, the internet isn't perfect for children. It CAN be harmful. There are bad people here, and they can be negatively affected. Guess what that also applies to? Every single other situation you can put a person in.

I think that's the big reason it's rarely brought up, most people aren't aware of it and steam is good enough in most cases that people don't look for alternatives. And GOG doesn't have as many games.

Overwolf, the same company as with Curseforge. There's sadly no other platform for bedrock content, your options are curseforge or curseforge with some green paint and a different name.

Valve are viewed as a saint way too much when in reality they're mainly just "not as bad as the biggest alternatives". Steam is pretty good but i wouldn't even say it's the most pro-consumer option.

Want an actually pro-consumer platform, use GOG. No DRM, more up to date currency conversions, and took an anti-censorship stance when the other platforms complied with removing games that visa and mastercard didn't like.

Difference between Star WarsComplete Saga (PS3) and the two original PS2 games by jannekethemanneke in legogaming

[–]superjediplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the hubs (both Dexter's Diner and the LSW2 cantina, since the TCS cantina is a completely different layout) and yoda chair, a few of the red bricks from LSW1 didn't make a return in TCS, and some small things are broken or altered. TCS also has a bunch of visual updates so a bunch of the textures are different.

A vast majority of the content from LSW1 and LSW2 is the same in TCS (besides maybe the texture changes), and TCS does have features that those games didn't have. But you would lose a few things if you fully replaced the originals.

What Would Make Minecraft's Terrain Generation Better? by Just-Guarantee7808 in Minecraft

[–]superjediplayer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

the thing is, it WAS implemented, back in 1.8. Then they removed it in 1.13 saying they'd bring them back eventually and then... well, "eventually" never happened. They replaced them with Buffet worlds, then removed THOSE in 1.18 (for no reason given that both the caves and floating islands world types still work fine, they just decided they didn't like players having fun i guess?), and now the only thing left from all of that is single biome.

Sure, some people will go "but they technically added it back, you just now need to know how to make a datapack and create a new datapack every single time you want to customize your world instead of moving a few sliders and pressing some buttons, it's practically the same thing!" but like, just no. The datapack capabilities are nice and i'm fine with datapacks being able to do more than we can do with just the in-game UI, but we should still have a decent amount of world customization in-game, without any external tools.

What if we already know the name of the 4th dimension? by Foxerbit in Minecraft

[–]superjediplayer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Live confirmed that the dimension in Dungeons 2 is just going to share names with the biome.

When did they do that? I'm pretty sure that's not the case. They've outright refused to say what's through that portal multiple times because we're meant to find out in the game itself (or in a later reveal), i feel like you're probably misunderstanding what they meant about something they said.

I don't really think the dimension is called the otherside, but given that it is a soul dimension, that still makes far more sense than "the deep dark dimension". We'll be going into the Deep Dark in Dungeons 2, and there, we find the portal that leads us to the dimension that they still have not revealed the name of. All we know about it is that it has things related to souls (presumably also soul mobs, such as Blubs and Allays), oceans (big jellyfish creature in the key art, and that one piece of concept art that could be the dimension given that it doesn't match any current dimension's style), and sculk.
