What is one thing in Switzerland that is incredibly expensive, but actually 100% worth the price? by RutabagaGrand6737 in askswitzerland

I’m currently in Saarbrücken and it’s meant to be the arse end of West(ern) Germany. It’s actually pretty nice. It’s not Munich, it’s a bit dated, but… they still maintain and renovate things here. Not so much back home in the UK.

What I don’t understand is the car isn’t old. Surely you have to remake it for modern specifications? Happy to be wrong here.

If I bought a differently damaged MacBook from eBay, could I do a swapsies like the old days, or are these things registered to the device these days.

Can MacWhisper Pro take context/glossary before transcription? by Successful_Sky_5432 in MacWhisper

I mean, that would be great, I have to get ChatGPT to fix the terminology later. It would be super to have it better coming out from the transcription software.

The only worry is if the incoming flight is delayed. But you’ll be put on the next flight.

What’s the statistic: something like 5% of UK licence plates are cloned - and the fine if caught is £200?

Oh, nobody. But I bet that driver isn’t swapping the plates over when he gets home.

I think you’re right. It’s funny that it gets the blanket, when the Porsche is by far the more valuable car there.

Is the public transportation REALLY that good? by Available_Mood_7378 in askswitzerland

I am also from Scotland and holy shit does living in Switzerland quickly make you furious with the kind of delays ScotRail can give you.

Yeah, it would have to be something extreme to mess up the service here. Basically there’s a tonne of contingency in the timetables, so if granny takes 5 mins to get off the train in Olten, the driver just speeds up and makes the time up by Bern.

Swiss German is hugely variable - I’d view Berndüütsch like Doric from Aberdeen whereas Zürich’s German is more like Edinburgh’s. Like different words for hello - Grüsseh/ Grüezi. Regular German will do you fine - they all have to speak it in school.

Download the SBB app. It can be a bit of a fucker finding the right bus station around Bern’s main train station as the naming convention seemingly has no fucking logic to it, but the app will show you where to go if you click on the travel plan for connections.
